  • Tarsier Conservation Area, Bohol

    4. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

We were so happy to get to see these adorable creatures, they are nocturnal and hard to find usually as they are so small but the staff of the sanctuary find where they are sleeping before opening and then guide visitors to them. You have to remain very quiet around them, and be very careful not to startle them.

They were about the size of my fist!

  • Alona Beach, Panglao, Philippines

    6. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ 🌙 29 °C

A busy beach with shops, restaurants, and resorts. Nice vibe to the place, although we preferred spending the evening there. Always seems busy with tourists, and locals trying to sell tours, trinkets, and tuk tuk rides.

We enjoyed a 'night out' with some friends here, and I had a foot massage right on the beach while the sun was setting!

    7. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

More of a locals beach this was the island life we were expecting to find in the Philippines!

Serene atmosphere, with beautiful blue-green water stretching out from the beach. I enjoyed a swim (although you had to go quite far out to get deep water so it was more of a wade), while luke chilled with a local dog that enjoyed our company.

We ate lunch at a nearby vegan restaurant that was lovely!

  • Tubod Marine Sanctuary, Siquijor

    10. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

Absolutely stunning marine sanctuary that was just feet away from the beach. Loads of fish to see, including an inquisitive clown fish!

I've never snorkeled before, so a completely new experience which was lots of fun - hoping I get to do it a few more times on our trip.Lue lisää

  • Republika Beach Bar,Siquijor,Philippines

    10. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We saw three sunsets at this bar, as it was such a nice place to be.

Incredible views, and you could often see people either emerging from the water as they had just been diving, or wandering along the shoreline.

The bar had local dogs who enjoyed the beach, as well as a couple of Rhodisian Ridgebacks that were either sleeping, playing, or eating around the area!

  • Solangon Beach, Siquijor, Philippines

    11. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Beautiful beach to stroll along, and sit and admire. We sat here for a while watching the hermit crabs crawl along the sand leaving trails, and the white sand crabs either moving swiftly or stood stock still, all while the swifts swooped along the sand catching flies from the beach. A egret joined us for a few moments too as they made their way down the seashore catching food along the way.

Serene and peaceful there were a few other tourists and locals enjoying the beach too, or sat in cafes a bit further along.

  • Oslob Church, Oslob, Philippines

    13. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Beautiful colonial church, looking over the sea at the edge of Oslob.

It was interesting to see a building so familiar, yet so different. The church includes clothed statues, which we have seen in other Filipino churches too, and a colour scheme of beige, baby blue, and light pink.

The whole area was lovely to wander through, and still obviously very loved by the locals.

  • Cuartel Ruins, Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

    13. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A set of ruins close to the sea, made from coral stone giving it an unusual vibe. We originally visited in the morning but I couldn't get any good shots as there was many other photoshoots happening! A very popular place for locals and tourists alike.

We revisited as the sun set and I thought it looked better too, and after sunset they were lit up for another look!

  • Quartel Beach, Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

    13. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ 🌙 29 °C

Not a beach that you would expect to find in the Philippines, but no less beautiful!

The area is used by locals as a place to hang out during sunset, with local children practicing dance routines (or cheerleading routines?), and adults chatting away on the benches, there was lovely chill vibe in the evening.

We made the mistake of sitting on the sea wall, and not a bench, so all the local dogs seemed to think we had treats for them - and tried to butter us up for said treats! Unfortunately all we had was a drink each 🙁

Stunning views, lovely sunset, and some pretty lighting after the sun went down left us with fond memories of this place.

  • Sardine Run, Moalboal, Cebu, Philippines

    15. maaliskuuta 2024, Filippiinit ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

One of the main reasons to come to Moalboal as a tourist is to view the sardines just meters away from the beach, and to possibly see sea turtles too.

I did get to see many, MANY sardines, but sadly no sea turtles. It was fun to be snorkeling again though, and to see various other fish in the sea. I enjoyed seeing the mass of sardines as they moved in swathes along the drop off, getting disrupted by someone and then merging the group together a few metres along.

This site was far more popular than Siquijor marine sanctuary, so there was lots more tourists, in groups and on boats, either snorkeling or scuba diving too. Unfortunately the effect on the coral is obvious, which was sad to see so close.

There were many fish that blended in well with the coral though, so you might need to zoom into the photos to view some well camouflaged fish!

  • Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

    17. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We were able to view Marina Bay Sands from so many different points within the city, and its iconic structure made the Singaporean skyline.

We definitely thought it looked better in the evening, glowing to match the super trees within Gardens by the Bay.

One of MRT lines we used also brought you out right underneath the hotel, leading to the shopping mall, casino, and canal (!).

  • Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

    17. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

These gardens were STUNNING. We could have spent all day wandering around here, if it wasn't for the heat/humidity and the fact we had plenty more of Singapore to see.

We both had high expectations for Garden Rhapsody, the light and music show in the evening, and it exceeded them completely as a unique and surreal experience.

I thought the trees wouldn't look as good in the daylight, but boy was I wrong - they looked amazing and in keeping with the surroundings. The whole park was fantastic, and we got to see monitor lizards and birds enjoying it too. A wonderfully calm and beautiful place you could spend hours.

  • Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Singapore

    17. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

A HUGE Buddhist temple over 5 floors! I loved our visit to here as we started at the roof garden where we saw a monk turning a huge prayer wheel, which he explained for was world peace. The rooftop garden was a serene escape from the bustle of Singapore.

The next floor down held a musuem which had some amazing artifacts from China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia etc. It explained the story of Buddha, albeit a little confusingly, and also housed lots of Buddha relics.

The floor below had even more artifacts stored, and also donations and gifts that had been given to the temple.

The next floor was a mezzanine level, so as we were viewing the wax statues of honorable monks we were also able to view the ground floor which was the main temple area. As we wandered around the monks began to bang on gongs, and a ceremony started. Magical to witness!

  • Sri Mariammam Temple, Singapore

    17. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

I love these bright, intricate temples sitting against modern skylines! Very similar to a temple we saw in Malaysia too, unfortunately we weren't able to go inside as it shuts in the afternoon, but still happy we were able to see the outside and the 6 tiered tower called a gopuram over the gates.

The temple is situated in Chinatown, not nearby Little India, as it was one of the first Hindu temples built.

  • Fort Canning, Singapore

    17. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Fort Canning was a great mixture of a public park and musuem. The hill it self has so much history, and the park was lovely to wander around. In the peak heat of the day I was so happy to see escalators come into view though as it was a steep climb! Only in Singapore would it seem normal to get an escalator while watching squirrels run around.

The main reason to visit was for the musuem, which was informative, and we both really appreciated the aircon. We also went to view the possible tomb of Keramat Sultan Iskandar Shah, one of the last Kings of Singapore.

Having some time to relax we enjoyed a sit down on a swing for a few minutes - although the video doesn't make it look like Luke enjoyed this!

    18. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

A large historic mosque which was beautiful to view, the surrounding area had lots of tourist shops as well as some amazing smelling food vendors!

The black ring of the dome is made up of the bottom of soy sauce bottles, donated by poor families in the area when it was being built, to show that the whole Muslim population contributed to the magnificent building.Lue lisää

  • Jln Kubor Muslim Cemetery, Singapore

    18. maaliskuuta 2024, Singapore ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A really unusual cemetery which spanned a pretty large area within the busy Little India area of Singapore, it was calm and serene while only being feet from a busy road.

We didn't venture far though, for fear of snakes, but also as we weren't sure where the graves were marked.

An elderly Singaporean man stopped to tell Luke not to miss the other side of the road where the cemetery continued, although we had already seen it!
