We arrived here after a 25km of gravel road (which was very good no ruts from grader) which we were able to drive at around 60kph.

We decided to move on from Petal Point as the village green camping area was filling up, there were a few couples sleeping in swags, a couple of tents, 3 old caravans and 4 boats (1 was quite large)Baca lagi

We were originally meant to take the caravan to Bridport, but decided that we would leave the caravan here at Scottsdale and just explore in the car.

Low Head

We got back on the road this morning and moved about 80kms up the road to Low Head which is just past George Town on the estuary of the Tamar river as it enters the Bass Straits.

Next we had a drive around town before visiting the Bass & Flinders museum, the guy who guided us around was very good and as we were the only ones there it was a personal tour. As usual kay enjoyedBaca lagi

We had a lay in today not arising till 9am (a right lazy pair we are becoming) eggs on toast for breakfast then off sightseeing again (its a hard life).We set off for the lighthouse station as theyBaca lagi

Next we were off to the pilots station were we started off with coffee and cake (best way to start a visit to a museum) then we met the lady volunteer host who gave up a bit of history of the area andBaca lagi
Batman Bridge

On the way to Beaconsfield today we crossed the Batman bridge which spans the Tamar river and is named after John Batman of Launceston a co founder of Melbourne not Bruce Wayne of Gotham.

After the Batman bridge we continued on to see the Beaconsfield mine the site of the mining disaster where 3 guys were trapped underground after a small earthquake caused a mine collapse, 1 of the 3Baca lagi

Platypus House Beauty Point

Next we visited the Platypus House where they have 4 rescued Platypus and 3 Echidnas, here you are given a guided tour as they don’t want people especially the small versions hassling the animalsBaca lagi
Seahorse World

Next door to the Platypus house is Seahorse World so we had a coffee then went to check it out, this again is a guided tour where they explain how they rear the seahorses which they sell to pet shopsBaca lagi
Launceston

We are now in Launceston staying at Old Mac’s Farm which is an off grid low cost campsite $10 per night no power or amenities but you can refill your tanks for $2 so with power from the sunBaca lagi
Grindleward

We set off sightseeing early today.
We went to the Swiss village at Grindelwald (we were also checking out a kennels in case we want to check the pups in if we go on a boat trip). Turns out its notBaca lagi
Cataract Gorge

On the way back from Grindelwald we visited the Cataract Gorge reserve now this place is awesome the local must love it, during summer the place must be swarming with people and Rugrats.

Penny Royal is an adventure park located next to the entrance to the Cataract gorge, we stopped off to grab a coffee and cake so we had a look around. They have a zip line, wall climbs and cliff faceBaca lagi

We decided to go up to the Stonesthrow cafe(its on the farm site) for Devonshire scones and coffee. The scones cream and jam were lovely the coffee not the best.

We have travelled south stopping first in Ross to have a look see then passing through Epping Forest, Tunbridge and Perth (thats Tasmania’s Perth) and Campbell TownBaca lagi
