  • Madinat Abu (Ramses 3rd temple)

    For the first stop we visited Madinat Abu a huge temple built by Ramses III. The site is amazing with many well conserved carvings representing scenes from the parahon life including battles and hunting moments. In some spots the original colours are still visible.   • Deir el-Medina (Constructors tombs)

    Our second stops was the valley of constructors tombs. In this area you can see remainings of a village built for the man working on the temples construction and many tombs for the most important engineers and workers. These tombs are less popular than those in the valley of kings but they are very well preserved with vivid colours and all the original paintings. Another amazing site to visit!Read more

  • Hatshepsut's temple

    We then stopped to the famous Hatshepsut's temple. Unfortunately, most of the original site was destroyed and what you can see now is mainly a modern reconstruction. Anyway, you can still feel the atmosphere in this place and how magnificent it would have been. It was no easy to climb to the temple in the hot morning bit definitely worth it!Read more

  • Temple of Horus in Edfu

    The second day was more relaxing, with a single visit on the morning. The ship stopped at Edfu for a tour to the Temple of Horus. This site is amazing with every single inch covered with sculptures and geroglifes telling to story of the god Horus and his battle against Seth. On of the rooms contains carvings with recipes and detailed instructions to prepare ancient Egyptian perfumes. The place is very well conserved even if the original colours are no longer visible. We then spent the afternoon relaxing on the boat.Read more

  • Temple of Philae

    We begin the 3rd day with a visit to the temple of Phile. Located on an island after relocation, this is considered the temple of love and lovers. We reached the temple on a small boat at took a nice tour inside and outside. The site is gorgeous with amazing views of the temple surrounded by blue water. Also many cute cats around!Read more

  • Put your feet in the Nile

    We then stopped briefly in a sandy beach to put our feet on the Nile. The water looked clear and transparent but we didn't dare to have a full bath. The sandy beach was colorful and lovely with locals selling stuff and having bath as well.Read more

  • Nubian Village

    After the sandy beach, we stopped at a local Nubian town. Here we enjoyed the local hospitality in a big house that is now open to tourists. The view on the river is stunning and you can enjoy a refreshing mint tea or karkade. The local town is full of life and colors and we also engaged in a local school to learn Arabic alphabet!Read more

  • When you see a crocodile...

    The local use to capture small crocodiles and breed them for a while before releasing them again in the Nasser lake. They have some big ones in their houses but also some little ones that you can handle. They seem small... But they can bite!Read more

  • Abu Simbel

    After 3.5h on a bus, we finally arrived at the Abu Simbel temple. The temple was moved to the current location after the construction of the Aswan Dig but it is still magnificent. The site also include the temple of Nefertari and has a stunning view on the lake. The iconic temple entrance is amazing, with all the charme of ancient Egypt.Read more

  • Kom Ombo temple

    This day is quite relaxing, with only a single visit planned in the morning to the Kom Ombo temple. This is a peculiar one, splitter between 2 different gods, the Eagle and the Crocodile. It hosts a well conserved Nile meter and a unique representation of ancient chirurgical tools. At the end, you can also see examples of mummified crocodiles. Unfortunately it is not as well conserved as others big temples but still a fascinating addition to the tour.Read more

  • Temple of Dendera

    We started our last day on the Nile visiting the temple of Dendera. It took 1.5h on the bus to reach the temple but the site is stunning. The temple was huge and expanded through different ages from old Egyptians to Romans. The inside is amazing, with very well conserved carvings and the original colors still preserved in many rooms. The columns area at the entrance is breathtaking and the temple contains many crypts and mysterious figures, like the rebirth chamber, or a representation that looks like a light bulb.Read more

  • Karnak temple

    After a couple of hours to recharge, we moved to the Karnak temple in the afternoon. This site is a huge temple, expanded by various pharaons and Roman emperors through ages. The entrance is guarded by sphinxes with Aries head, followed by the amazing room of columns with huge intact columns built by Ramses II. There are also many specular carvings. This temple is connected to the near Luxor temple by a 3 km alley with sphinxes on both sides. During the rituals the sacred boats were moved from the Karnak temple to the Luxor one for 2 weeks to celebrate the Sun god.Read more
