Zpátky na trať

Se smutkem v srdci oznamuji, že opouštíme Otago. Dáme sbohem Marylin, zamáváme Wanace. Trochu nás mrazí, což není pouze narážkou na počasí. Letní dobrodružství půl roku nazpět jsme totiž středně až více protrpěli.
Rozhodnuti poučit se z chyb, do podrobna rýsujeme plány. Detaily, jako kde leží obchody, kolik času berou přejezdy, výhledy počasí, polohy kempů. To vše nyní skládáme dohromady s německou samozřejmostí.
Taktéž vymezujem pevný cíl, tedy datum místo a čas, kdy naše obcování s cestou skončí. Přesně za dva týdny začínáme dobrovolničit na Severu. V mezičase pak opětovně protnem oba ostrovy a oslavíme příchod jara. Zjišťujeme, že hranice a jasná rozhodnutí platí ve světě nekonečných možností za nutnost. Jakmile už jednou roztančíme kola, znovu vymýšlet, přemýšlet a dokolečka měnit je hovadina.

Back on the Road

With a heavy heart, I announce that we are leaving Otago. We say goodbye to Marylin, wave farewell to Wanaka. Chills run through us—and not just because of the weather. Half a year ago, our summer adventure was something we endured more than enjoyed.
Determined to learn from our mistakes, now we draw our plans in detail. Things like where the shops are, how long the drives take, weather forecasts, campsite locations. We piece it all together with almost German precision. At the same time, we set a solid end—a specific date, place, and time when our life on the road will come to an end.
In exactly two weeks, we begin volunteering in the North Island. In the meantime, we’ll cross both islands once again and celebrate the arrival of spring. We’re realizing that boundaries and clear decisions are a necessity in a world of endless possibilities. Once the wheels are in motion, constantly rethinking, reconsidering, and changing everything over and over again is stupidity.
