Když vás zavalí potíže, vyrazte na pláž. A všechny trable skončí v moři.
Zatímco spolek plážového lehátka v Česku pořád hledá příznivce, na Zélandu podobný přístup vítězí. A tak si dáváme říct.
Odjíždíme totiž z farmy a naše plány vykazují nulu. Zase. Záchranný kruh nám hází Ráma a Xavi. A navíc jezdí a troubí!
A jedna velká kapitola skončí.
Rotorua and Hobitton
When trouble comes crashing down on you, head for the beach. Let the sea swallow all your worries. While the Czech Beach Lounger Association is still desperately looking for supporters, this approach seems to be winning in New Zealand. So we decide to give it a try.
We’re leaving the farm, and our plans are showing zero. Again.
Ráma and Xavi throw us a lifeline. An absolutely wonderful duo, so thoroughly awesome that they must surely have studied at the University of BeGreat. They park their bus on the farm — and they live in it! Suspicious, I know, but trust me. Their home meets the standards of a three-thousand-dollar studio apartment. And it drives and honks!
Ráma and Xavi take their house to the beach for the weekend, and drag us along. We chat, cook, have a few drinks… and have a great time. From the beach, we fly express straight into Zen!
Then we head towards Rotorua. A lakeside town that, let’s say… smells. And properly so! At first sniff, it feels as though the entire population eats nothing but eggs and is legally required to fart!
The omnipresent stench, however, comes from the local hot springs, bubbling up from some seriously eruptive earth. Volcanoes here tend to go BOOM roughly once a century. The last BIG BOOM happened a hundred years ago, carpeting the landscape back into the prehistoric era. The result is a landscape that looks completely unreal.
We round off the week with a visit to Hobbiton. A must for The Lord of the Rings fans, and a gold mine for its owners. Those 240 dollars could probably be spent better elsewhere. The organised tour through the movie set feels artificial, with us constantly waiting for the group ahead to finish taking their perfect photos.
The strongest moment comes only when we leave, as Hobbiton bids us farewell to the sound of the film score. That’s when we realise that we’re also hearing the swan song of our entire adventure.
In a few days, we’ll be gone. And one big chapter will come to an end.Read more
