Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway

Today we're taking a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Narrow Gauge Railway from Ravenglass to Dalegarth. When they say narrow gauge they mean it, the carriages were very compact, we chose an open sided one as when we booked the weather looked okay but it was a bit cool.
Nice journey of about 40 minutes through the countryside, plenty of wildlife (and sheep of every variety) to look at and lots of beautiful bright gorse bushes to brighten up the otherwise dull and misty landscape.
On reaching Dalegarth we disembark and head straight to the pub, well why not there's nothing else to do here. Nice drop of Lakeland IPA was enjoyed during the 40 minute stopover then it's back to the train for our homeward journey. A quick look around the museum before heading off to the overnight stay outside Whitehaven, a lovely site with good views, until the fog descended.En savoir plus
