    Lewes Brews

    Right so them both up early this morning ready for a trip to historic Lewes on the train which involves a train connection at Eastbourne. Anyroad they get there ok and walk along the main High Street where the buildings are all olde worldly and interesting, and he does quite well keeping er out of the clothes shops. He then drags her round Lewes castle and museum to have a look around and climb up the ramparts for the views. She ay very keen but he seems to enjoy it anyway. Back down again they walk over the bridge to inspect Harveys historic Brewery. We'll that is a surprise! Harvey's have been brewing since 1757 and they've got a brewery tap so they sit themselves down to sample some various beers (all excellent) complete with a panini and chips. This is a recurring holiday theme if seems. Another wander round the town then back on the train changing again at Eastbourne with enough time for an ice cream Bostin.Okumaya devam et

    One of them grey drizzly days today so not much happening. They read a lot hunkered down on me sofas, till he had enough and they had a bike ride to the new Eastbourne Marina for a mooch and a coffee and teacake.     Beautiful Bexhill Before Beer

    Well we ave woke up to a crackin day here on the South Coast, clear blue sky and full on sun. I can feel me solar panels warming up a treat, luverley! After a bit of a debate they unload the bikes and pedal off in the direction of Bexhill about 5 mile away along the quiet coast road. Well by all accounts they loved it, very up market (so they must ave stood out then! ) with a cracking prom, lovely apartments and beach chalets fronting the pebble beach, and a small market behind art deco buildings. Having strolled along the prom as old gits do, he decides they need refreshment and wouldn't you adam and eve it , he knows there is a micro pub in the town. Great find e says, 12 cask gravity fed ales, of which they sampled 6, cheese onion cobs to nibble on, all followed by a rather wobbly pedal back home.Okumaya devam et

    Well muckers, wim on the road again. After Master Tom fitted me with new brakes and discs I'm feeling a little chipper, and looking forward to the trip. But what's this, ees talking bout the M25, gooing South and all, gonna be a long day.

    Well it wor bad to be fair, M5, M4, M329, M3, M25, M23 and just one mistake by Mrs Satnag, which caused a few heated words between em and a U turn up a cul-de-sac! Cracking site at Norman's Bay, Pevensey right opposite the beach, busy site but the sun is out, the chairs are out and the beer is out. Here for 7 nights an I am well happy, lots of company for me while they am out n about, not like the usual isolated farm sites they usually leave me on!    Okumaya devam et

    New Mills

    Today is our last full day so we have decided we're going on a bike ride whatever the weather, ha ha.

    It's dry when we set off but we're only just off the site when it starts to rain 🌧️.

    We bike to town and then join the Sett Valley Trail to New Mills, it's only about 2 and a half miles.

    We get there park up the bikes for a walk around and yes you've guessed it, it starts pouring with rain 🌧️

    There's not much to interest us so we decide to head back home. The bikes are great so much easier to ride than the others and going up hills is so much quicker.

    We arrive back at the site and would you believe it the sun 🌞 comes out, Martin is determined to make the most of it and gets the chairs out and sits outside for a while.

    We are making our way back home tomorrow, we've enjoyed our trip but could have done with better weather.    Okumaya devam et

    Hayfield

    Well yesterday, Saturday was a washout, quite literally, so not much to report. Martin did manage to get out for a walk later in the afternoon in between showers.

    Today we went for a walk in to the village walking alongside the stream running at the back of the campsite.

    The village is quite pretty full of tiny quaint cottages and narrow streets.

    We stopped for a drink at The Royal Hotel, sitting outside, thankfully it's a lot warmer today before heading back. Martin went for another explore this afternoon but yes you've guessed it, it started to rain 🌧️.    Okumaya devam et

    Snake Pass and Glossop

    Today is moving day and the weather is being kind to us we have some sunshine ☀️
    When we left the site we headed up Snake Pass towards Lady Bower Reservoir where the Dan Busters practiced with their bouncing bomb.
    We then stopped off in Glossop to stretch our legs and get some more supplies.
    Onwards then to Hayfield to our new site situated in an old quarry.    Okumaya devam et

    Woke to sunnier weather today but really cold. I'm not feeling up to doing much so this afternoon Martin went on a bike ride to Edale by himself brought back some shortbread for afternoon tea. He got back just before the rain 🌧️ started. Can you see a theme here.Okumaya devam et

    Castleton Take Two

    After a much better night we woke to sunshine ☀️ and slightly warmer temperatures. Lunchtime we got the new bikes out and prepared to set off for a ride, this was momentarily halted due to a hailstorm.
    Unpreturbed we set off towards Hope, where I took the first picture, yes that could be snow or at least the hail that had just passed over.
    We turn and head back towards Castleton on the back roads, flat according to Martin, then we encountered a hill, I must admit I am most impressed with the new bikes, I know it was on Turbo mode but I made it up the hill without stopping and not getting too out of breath. There's no way the old ones would have done that.
    It's not exactly warm so we head back to the van and what do you know, the sun decides to come out again but I've had enough, I'm sitting in the warm with my book while Martin goes out for another ride.    Okumaya devam et

    After a very disturbed nights sleep due to the hammering rain, wind rocking the van and the fact that I, Deb, have developed a terrible sore throat, sore skin and a headache that kept me awake for most of the night we woke to yet more rain.
    We are moving on to Castleton and the Camping and Motorhome Club site, a very popular site with not many vacancies at weekends.
    We take a walk into the town this afternoon, I'm sure if the sun had shone it would have been very pretty, plenty of nice pub's but today was certainly not the weather for sitting outside with a drink.    Okumaya devam et

    Off we go

    Off we go to The Peak District by way of an overnight stay at Sudbury just outside Uttoxeter. First stop is The Black Country Museum so Martin can have his second Covid jab, he is now feeling invincible. So far no ill effects.
    While waiting for Martin to be jabbed the rain started in earnest and continued until about 8pm when we did see a glimpse of sun 🌞and a double rainbow 🌈. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.    Okumaya devam et

    Wells next the Sea

    Nice sunny day so we are off via the bikes and the coast hopper bus to Wells. The bus driver does a fair impression of Lewis Hamilton along the narrow coast road splattering luxury 4x4 vehicles up against the flint walls in his wake. Wells is very nice with really only one main shopping street leading to the Quay and the river which links to the sea, again about a mile walk if you are inclined, and herselfs back is not. Noted in an estate agents window a beach hut on Wells distant beach can be had for the princely sum of £58,000! So we had a sedate saunter around the town and quay with cakes purchased from a very nice bakery, and the obligatory pint of Ghost Ship and then Lewis gets us back to Blakeney at speed.Okumaya devam et

    Blakeney by bike

    Bike day today to ease the walking with the dodgy back. Only a couple of miles down the road Blakeney is so like many places along this bit of the coast, with a lot of marshland and rivers seperating the village from the actual sea. Lots of crab catching here and boats go out for seal watching Lovely picturesque village with the coastal path just over a mile from the beach. So we content ourselves with a roundabout walk around the village. Back on the bikes and a ride along the coastal road to the neighbouring Cley next the Sea. This time a beach road is available so we pedal out to the pebbly beach. Cley is a one road village very narrow so we decide to pedal back to Blakeney for refreshments. Well what do you know a pub serving Ghost Ship.... lovely! Bit of shopping for provisions and back home. 10 mies in total so not bad. The sunset tonight was very colourful and sticking.Okumaya devam et

    Bye West Runton, Hi Blakeney

    Moving day. Around 12 miles to be precise. So we thought we would visit Holt a picturesque small town on the way. Holt has small narrow streets and very few and small car parks. Muttley is a bit bulky. Not a match made in heaven. The first go at a car park in the centre, no space and entailed a bit of precision reversing so we could exit the car park and town. Second attempt at car park two.... err no. Exit town. Third attempt at supermarket car park no...... supermarket closed. Exit town. Sod Holt let's crack on! Wrong road out via satnag - narrow Norfolk roads so no turning till the next village. So back to Holt we went. We are nothing if not persistent, and took a run down a long road to try to street park.... nothing to accommodate our bulk. Returned back down the road and blimey right in the town a 1 hour restricted space was secured for our endeavour. I rewarded myself with a shopping spree in Adnams beer shop and herself secured a blouse in a posh shop. Nice town with great independent shops. Now parked up 1 mile from Blakeney with a sea view from our farm site no less. Blackberry and apple crumble tonight from the posh food shop in Holt. Lovely....Okumaya devam et

    Tuesday and Wednesday

    Tuesday - Day at leisure to rest back as they say. Bit of sunshine filtering through so a day of reading until I persuade herself of the benefits of an afternoon stroll to West Runton beach, and a very nice beach it is too. Lovely sand and a few rock pools. Never seen so many dogs on this trip. People look at us strangely as we have no mutt on a lead. The smaller the caravan/motorhome the bigger and greater the amount of dogs within.
    Wenesday - awake to full sunshine (at last) so off on the train to nearest Sheringham. Pleasant amble around a small market and through the town to the promenade. Stroll east and west until back is aggravated so retire to pub for embrocation in this case Adnam Ghost Ship at its finest! Skilfully avoid the many fish and chip shops only to be forced into an ice cream shop.🍦🍦 This seems to one of these holidays where we are doing bugger all apart from eating and drinking.🍺🍷 😎    Okumaya devam et

    Cromer

    Well no rain today, but no sun either. Everything is grey, including me. Cromer would possibly have been walkable along the coast path, but back problems dictate the use of the train close to the site all of one stop. Plenty of people in Cromer, mainly old people just sauntering along the promenade getting in the way of us sauntering even slower along the promenade. Cromer still has an old fashioned pier with a theatre on it, closed at the moment obviously but being refurbished. Having ambled a little, sod me it was time for a pint! Very nice too in a converted car park nicely distanced with a collection of the biggest mismatched furniture straight out the local junk shops that you have ever seen. Onto the highlight of the day fish and chips in the famed No1 restaurant, again superbly managed for virus protection. Glad to see there are places taking it seriously for our protection. Back home on the train still grey clouds with a cool breeze. Oh well at least it hasn't rained. Oh hang on a moment...................Okumaya devam et

    Norfolk is the new Crete

    OK so not exactly the same, but we have wine, Feta Cheese and there is sea and sand and fingers crossed the sun may put in an appearance? So far so good, great journey arriving on site at West Runton between Sheringham and Cromer at 1.00pm. Herself has a dodgy back so settled in and then sauntered down (slowly) to the village for a distanced pint/gin. Forecast which looked good has now changed to cloudy for the next few days. Back to Muttley for a meat pie and veg meal, very Greek like! No TV signal so used a few giggly bites streaming the golf and Amazon Prime in the evening. Discovered Norfolk Steam Railway want £35 for an isolated compartment to travel the 6 miles to Holt and back, so another plan is dashed. It is now raining...........Okumaya devam et
