    Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam

    Arrivati alla nostra prima tappa in Vietnam, nella grande e caotica città di Ho Chi Minh.
    La città è super trafficata, sembra una grande metropoli dell’occidente, anche se ci sono delle zone ancora un po’ tipiche.
    Abbiamo mangiato cibi che non vedevamo da mesi e ci siamo spostati a piedi e con grab per ammirare al meglio la città.
    Una cosa che ci ha molto divertito era fare shopping al mercato, dove devi giocare a tirare il prezzo che può essere ridotto oltre la metà del prezzo che ti dicono inizialmente 😂.

    Uno dei giorni che eravamo qui siamo andati a vedere i tunnel di Cu Chi, che sono i tunnel dove i vietnamiti vivevano durante le varie guerre che hanno toccato il paese.
    I tunnel che abbiamo visitato noi li hanno allargati per i turisti ed erano molto stretti - i tunnel che usavano i vietnamiti erano ancora più piccoli. È stata una gita molto interessante.
    Nel complesso è stata una bella tappa.

    We arrived at our first stop in Vietnam, the large and chaotic city of Ho Chi Minh.
    The city is super busy, it looks like a large Western city, even if there are some areas that are still a bit typical.
    We ate food we hadn't seen for months and moved around on foot and by grab to admire the city as best we could.
    One thing that we really liked, was shopping at the market, where you have to reduce the price, which can be reduced to more than half the price they initially tell you 😂.

    One of the days we were here we went to see the Cu Chi tunnels, which are the tunnels where the Vietnamese lived during the various wars that affected the country.
    The tunnels we visited were widened for tourists and were already very narrow - the tunnels the Vietnamese used were even smaller. It was a very interesting trip.

    Mekong’s delta

    Abbiamo fatto una scappata sul delta del Mekong, che ci hanno consigliato per il mercato galleggiante e per la zona.
    Siamo stati in una bellissima homestay che ci ha organizzato un tour di una mattina a vedere il mercato, a mangiare piatti locali nel mercato locale (pochi turisti, si incontra maggiormente la gente locale).
    È stato proprio una bella esperienza, corta (perchè abbiamo passato solo una notte li) ma molto bella.

    We took a trip to the Mekong Delta, which they recommended to us for the floating market and the area.
    We stayed in a beautiful homestay that organized a morning tour for us to see the market, eat local dishes in the local market (few tourists, you meet more local people).
    It was a really nice experience, short (because we only spent one night there) but very beautiful.    Les mer

    Da Nang and Hoi an

    Abbiamo passato 5 giorni nella regione di Da Nang e Hoi An, a metà Vietnam, saltando il
    Sud del Vietnam perchè volevamo evitare le grandi città lungo la costa, che sarebbero state sul nostro itinerario.
    Da Nang è anche una grande città, viene chiamata la Miami Beach del Vietnam. Per due giorni però vale la pena visitarla, è un buon posto per chi vuole avere un po di spiaggia e mare e per chi vuole visitare un po’.
    Qui siamo stati sulle Marble Mountains, delle montagne con diversi templi e un panorama sulla città. Abbiamo anche mangiato bene in alcuni locali molto carini e tipici, chiaramente sempre entrando dove ci sono pochi turisti e più gente del luogo.

    Dopo Da Nang siamo andati ad Hoi An, città famosa qui nella zona.
    In passato si trattava di un porto di scambio per il commercio - oggigiorno si tratta di una cittadina molto turistica, dove è possibile comperare di tutto e di più fatto su misura, come completi, vestiti, scarpe, bikini, eccetera. Vai dalle sarte con la tua idea e loro te la riproducono in pochissimo tempo e in ottima qualità, per prezzi stracciati se comparati a quelli europei.
    La città é anche famosa per le sue lanterne che illuminano bar, ristoranti, negozi e e vie della città. Così come per le sue coconut boats, dove è possibile fare un tour nelle foreste di cocco acquatico.
    La nostra permanenza è stata molto piacevole, anche se ogni tanto c’era troppa gente in giro es eravamo un po’ stufi di essere strapazzati dalla gente che voleva solo vendere.

    We spent 5 days in the Da Nang and Hoi An region, in mid-Vietnam, skipping the
    South of Vietnam because we wanted to avoid the big cities along the coast, which would have been on our itinerary.
    Da Nang is also a big city, it is called the Miami Beach of Vietnam. For two days, however, it is worth visiting, it is a good place for those who want to have a bit of beach and sea and for those who want to visit a bit.
    Here we were in the Marble Mountains, a place with different temples and a view of the city. We also ate well in some very nice and typical places, clearly always entering where there are few tourists and more locals.

    After Da Nang we went to Hoi An, a famous city here in the area.
    In the past it was a port of exchange for trade - nowadays it is a very touristy town, where it is possible to buy anything and everything made to measure, such as suits, dresses, shoes, bikinis, etc. You go to the taylor with your idea and they reproduce it for you in a very short time and in excellent quality, for very low prices compared to European ones.
    The city is also famous for its lanterns which illuminate bars, restaurants, shops and streets of the city. As well as for its coconut boats, where it is possible to take a tour of the aquatic coconut forests.
    Our stay was very pleasant, even if sometimes there were too many people around and we were a little tired of being bullied by people who just wanted to sell.    Les mer

    Hue

    Hue, famosa per la sua città imperiale, i suoi templi e il parco acquatico abbandonato è stata proprio una bella scoperta. Abbiamo visitato le varie vie della città a piedi e in bici.
    La città imperiale è parte del patrimonio dell UNESCO, costruita all’inizio del 1800, quando Hue venne definita la capitale imperiale. La cittadella ha vissuto diverse battaglie ed è stata in parte distrutta durante la guerra del Vietnam. È stata una bella visita.

    Una sera abbiamo fatto un FreeWalking Tour dove un ragazzo che ha studiato ad Hue ci ha portato in sette diversi ristorantini a provare le specialità della zona. Abbiamo mangiato tantissimo ed era tutto buonissimo.

    Io e Raffi da soli siamo anche stati in diversi posti a mangiare con la gente locale, posti dove io da sola probabile non sarei mai entrata vedendo l’igiene del posto - ma il cibo era straordinario e (tocchiamo ferro) la pancia ha retto 😊

    Ora siamo alla stazione ferroviaria di Hue dove aspettiamo il treno che in tre ore ci porterà a Dong Hoi, dove dormiremo una notte per poi partire domani mattina (20.12.2023) per il parco nazionale di Phong Nha.

    Hue, famous for its imperial city, its temples and the abandoned water park was a really nice discovery. We visited the various streets of the city on foot and by bike.
    The imperial city is part of the UNESCO heritage, built in the early 1800s, when Hue was defined as the imperial capital. The citadel experienced several battles and was partly destroyed during the Vietnam War. It was a nice visit.

    One evening we did a FreeWalking Tour where a boy who studied in Hue took us to seven different restaurants to try the specialties of the area. We ate a lot and it was all delicious.

    Raffi and I alone also went to several places to eat with the local people, places where I would probably never have entered on my own seeing the hygiene of the place - but the food was extraordinary and (fingercrossed) my stomach held up 😊

    Now we are at the Hue railway station where we are waiting for the train that will take us to Dong Hoi in three hours, where we will sleep one night and then leave tomorrow morning (20.12.2023) for Phong Nha national park.    Les mer

    Phong Nha - Ruc Mon Cave

    Che avventura oggi! Io e Raffi siamo andati ad esplorare la grotta di Ruc Mon nel parco nazionale di Phong Nha.
    Le condizioni meteo non erano per niente favorevoli (freddo e pioggia). Le scarpe ai piedi erano dei sandaletti senza profilo di plastica. Diciamo che non ero molto convinta, sapendo cosa mi attendeva.
    Siamo partiti a piedi in mezzo al fango, ai campi, attraversando i fiumi fino all’entrata della grotta, dove abbiamo fatto pranzo e ci siamo preparati per la scalata.
    Eh si propio una scalata nella melma, salendo con l’aiuto di corde.
    Arrivati in cima è iniziata la discesa nei meandri della grotta: assicurati con un’imbragatura siamo scesi per centinaia di metri nella grotta.
    In fondo ci aspettava un fiume, l’unica via d’uscita della grotta.
    Ci siamo tuffati nell’acqua e per 600m ci siamo fatti trasportare fuori dalla grotta. L’acqua era fresca, ma era sopportabile.
    La parte difficile era l’arrivo fuori dalla grotta, tutti bagnati. Ma ci siamo cambiati velocemente e siamo tornati in centro paese, dove ci aspettava una bella doccia calda alla nostra homestay.
    A parte un po’ di paura e il freddo è stata una bella avventura :)

    What an adventure today! Raffi and I went to explore Ruc Mon Cave in Phong Nha National Park.
    The weather conditions were not at all favorable (cold and rain). We wore plastic sandals without profile. Let's say I wasn't very convinced, knowing what awaited me.
    We started walking through the mud, across the fields, crossing the rivers to the entrance of the cave, where we had lunch and got ready for the climb.
    Oh yes, a climb in the mud, climbing with the help of ropes.
    Once we reached the top, the descent into the deep parts of the cave began: secured with a harness we descended for hundreds of meters into the cave.
    At the bottom, a river awaited us, the only way out of the cave.
    We dived into the water and let ourselves be carried out of the cave for 600m. The water was cold, but it was ok.
    The difficult part was arriving out of the cave, all wet. But we quickly changed and returned to the town center, where a nice hot shower awaited us at our homestay.
    Apart from a little fear and the cold it was a great adventure :)    Les mer

    Phong Nha - Paradise cave

    Altro giorno, altra grotta!
    Oggi abbiamo preso lo scooter e abbiamo fatto un viaggio di 45 minuti attraverso panorami scenici per raggiungere le grotte Paradise.
    Sono delle grotte lunghe 31km scoperte nel 2005, con splendide stalagmiti e stalagtiti di diverse forme.
    È stato bellissimo esplorare questa bellezza della natura.

    Al ritorno ci siamo fermati a mangiare qualcosina ed a scaldarci attorno ad un grill, mentre la sera ci siamo scaldati mangiando un hotpot, una specie di fondue chinoise vietnamita.

    Another day, another cave!
    Today we took the scooter and took a 45 minute ride through scenic views to reach the Paradise caves.
    They are 31km long caves discovered in 2005, with splendid stalagmites and stalagtites of different shapes.
    It was wonderful to explore this beauty of nature.

    On the way back we stopped to eat something and to heat around a grill, whereas to stay warm during dinner, we ate a hot pot, a vietnamise “fondue chinoise”.    Les mer

    Phong Nha Cave and Tien Son Cave

    Terzo giorno all’esplorazione delle grotte del Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.
    Oggi siamo saltati su una barca per raggiungere via fiume le grotte Phong Nha e Tien Son.

    Entrambe bellissime grotte, anche se la Tien Son è quella che mi è piaciuta di più, anche più della famosa Paradise Cave. A quanto pare era chiusa al pubblico da diverso tempo e l’hanno riaperta poco tempo fa.
    Per me era molto speciale perchè si poteva passare in spazi stretti e camminare in diverse parti della grotta, dove c’erano stalagmiti e stalattiti bellissime.

    Dopo aver passato 3 ore nelle grotte e assaggiato un bel pasto della cucina indiana, siamo andati a farci fare un bel massaggio prima di tornare a Dong Hoi per prendere il treno notturno in direzione Ninh Binh

    Third day exploring the caves of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.
    Today we hopped on a boat to reach Phong Nha and Tien Son caves via river.

    Both beautiful caves, although Tien Son is the one I liked the most, even more than the famous Paradise Cave. Apparently it had been closed to the public for some time and they reopened it a short time ago.
    For me it was very special because you could pass through narrow spaces and walk in different parts of the cave, where there were beautiful stalagmites and stalactites.

    After spending 3 hours in the caves and tasting a nice meal of indian cuisine, we went for a nice massage before returning to Dong Hoi to catch the night train towards Ninh Binh    Les mer

    Tam Coc - Day 1

    La mattina della vigilia di Natale siamo arrivati a Ninh Binh dopo una notte un po’ movimentata sul treno notturno. Siamo arrivati poi a Tam Coc (20 minuti di distanza dalla stazione), dove abbiamo approfittato della sveglia presto per visitare un paio di luoghi senza incontrare troppi turisti.
    La prima tappa è stata il Viewpoint della Mua Cave, che offre un bel panorama sulle zone circostanti.
    Dopodichè abbiamo preso lo scooter e ci siamo spostati a vedere un monumento e poi il magnifico tempio di Bai Dinh. Quest’ultimo è un tempio Buddista molto bello, dove abbiamo imparato qualcosa in più sul buddismo e sulle varie statue e Buddah presenti, grazie ad un’audioguida gratuita.

    Rientrati alla Homestay siamo stati invitati a cena dalla padrona di casa assieme agli altri ospiti per festeggiare il Natale tutti insieme.
    È stata una serata molto carina.

    On the morning of Christmas Eve we arrived in Ninh Binh after a not optimal night on the night train. We then went to Tam Coc (20 minutes away from the station), where we took advantage of the early wake-up call to visit a couple of places without meeting too many tourists.
    The first stop was the Mua Cave Viewpoint, which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding areas.
    Then we took the scooter and went to see a monument and then the magnificent Bai Dinh temple. The latter is a very beautiful Buddhist temple, where we learned something more about Buddhism and the various statues and Buddhas present, thanks to a free audio guide.

    Once back at the Homestay we were invited to dinner by the landlady together with the other guests to celebrate Christmas all together.

    Tam Coc - Day 2 and 3

    Tra ieri (25.12) ed oggi abbiamo visitato ancora e ancora i dintorni di Tam Coc, usufruendo di tour in barca oltre che allo scooter.
    Con il boat tour abbiamo visto bellissimi panorami, siamo passati dentro una caverna bassissima per 1km (dovevamo abbassare la testa quasi sempre per non picchiarla contro la grotta), e abbiamo visitato alcuni templi.

    Questi giri in barca sono stati molto belli perchè riesci ad immergerti nella natura del luogo. Peccato che a dicembre non ci siano i campi verdi o colorati, ma solo delle pozze di fango e acqua.

    Entrambe le sere siamo poi andati a bere una birra mentre ammiravamo il tramonto tra le colline.

    La sera di Natale abbiamo preso lo scooter e siamo andati a Ninh Binh, dove siamo andati a mangiare ad un piccolo night street market. Abbiamo provato un panino fatto di riso fritto. Era una cosa buonissima.
    Stasera invece abbiamo mangiato un’anatra grigliata al momento - era una bomba.
    Possiamo dire che abbiamo passato le feste superbamente qui in Vietnam 😁

    Between yesterday (25.12) and today we visited the surroundings of Tam Coc again and again, taking advantage of boat tours as well as the scooter.
    With the boat tour we saw beautiful views, we passed inside a very low cave for 1km (we had to lower our heads almost always so as not to hit it against the cave), and we visited some temples.

    These boat tours were very nice because you can immerse yourself in the nature of the place. It's a shame that in December there are no green or colorful fields, but only puddles of mud and water.

    Both evenings we then went for a beer while watching the sunset over the hills.

    On Christmas evening we took the scooter and went to Ninh Binh, where we went to eat at a small night street market. We tried a sandwich made of fried rice. It was a very good thing.
    This evening however we ate a freshly grilled duck - it was the bomb.
    We can say that we spent the holidays superbly here in Vietnam 😁    Les mer

    Hanoi

    Hanoi, la capitale del Vietnam!
    Abbiamo passato due giorni in questa bella e caotica città, mangiato diverse specialità del luogo, fatto acquisti e visitato alcune attrazioni turistiche, come la famosa Train Street. Qui ci si siede ai lati dei binari e si beve e mangia qualcosa aspettando che passino i treni, che vengono acclamati da tutti i presenti.

    Qui ad Hanoi abbiamo deciso di noleggiare una motocicletta per fare sei giorni nelle montagne, quindi ci siamo affidati a Style Motorbike, dove io ho preso uno scooter semiautomatico e Raffi una bella motocicletta manuale.
    Nei prossimi giorni vedrete le nostre tappe.

    Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam!

    We spent two days in this beautiful and chaotic city, ate different local specialties, shopped and visited some tourist attractions, such as the famous Train Street. Here people sit on the sides of the tracks and drink and eat something waiting for the trains to pass, which are acclaimed by all present.

    Here in Hanoi we decided to rent a motorcycle to do six days in the north mountains, so we relied on Style Motorbike, where I took a semi-automatic scooter and Raffi a nice manual motorcycle. In the next days you will see our trip.    Les mer

    Bao Lac

    31. desember 2023, Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

    L’ultimo giorno dell’anno abbiamo vissuto un’altra avventura e abbiamo guidato per 3 ore verso Bao Lac, un piccolo paesino nelle montagne.
    Abbiamo viaggiato su una strada di montagna, andando su e giù e facendo tante curve.
    È stato molto bello ed emozionante.
    Abbiamo però vissuto anche una parte piuttosto paurosa. Nella zona c’è un bellissimo passo (Khau Coc Cha) con tante curve (allego una foto di come dovrebbe essere in condizioni normali).
    Purtroppo stanno facendo diversi lavori di rinnovo e la strada è un casino: packer, trivelle e camion che rompono e muovono sassi, sabbia e polvere ovunque, e una strada tortuosa, sabbiosa e sassosa, dove bisogna fare attenzione a non scivolare o perdere l’equilibrio. In più c’e molta pendenza quindi rende il viaggio ancora più difficile.
    Però ce l’abbiamo fatta e siamo arrivato a Bao Lac sani e salvi.
    Ma eravamo così stanchi che abbiamo fatto cena e alle 20.00 siamo andati a dormire.
    È stata una bella fine 2023 😃

    On the last day of the year we had another adventure and drove for 3 hours to Bao Lac, a small village in the mountains.
    We traveled on a mountain road, going up and down and making lots of turns. It was very beautiful and exciting.
    However, we also experienced a rather fearful part. In the area there is a beautiful pass (Khau Coc Cha) with many curves (I am attaching a photo of how it should be in normal conditions). Unfortunately they are doing several renovations and the street is a mess: packers, drills and trucks that break and move stones, sand and dust everywhere, and a terrible, sandy and stony road, where you have to be careful not to slip or lose the balance. In addition, there is a lot of slope so it makes the journey even more difficult.
    But we did it and we arrived at Bao Lac safe and sound.
    We were so tired that we had dinner and at 20.00 we went to sleep.

    Dong Van

    Oggi abbiamo fatto la tratta Bao Lac - Dong Van, passando per paesaggi mozzafiato, a lato di montagne ripidissime che finivano in un lago: si tratta del Ma Pi Leng Pass. Bisognava fare molta attenzione a non sporgersi troppo per non finire di sotto.
    Arrivati a Dong Van abbiamo lasciato le nostre valigie ad una homestay bellissima, per salire al punto più a nord del Vietnam.
    Alla sera abbiamo fatto un giro nel paesino e poi cenato alla homestay con i due hosts, che ci hanno cucinato un hot pot molto buono.

    Today we did the Bao Lac - Dong Van route, passing through breathtaking landscapes, alongside very steep mountains that ended in a lake: this is the Ma Pi Leng Pass. You had to be very careful not to lean out too much so as not to end up downstairs.
    Once we arrived in Dong Van we left our suitcases at a beautiful homestay, to go up to the northernmost point of Vietnam.
    In the evening we took a tour of the village and then had dinner at the homestay with the two hosts, who cooked us a very good hot pot.    Les mer

    Ha Giang

    Ultima tappa del Ha Giang Loop: Dong Van - Ha Giang.
    È stata la tappa che mi è piaciuta di meno, le strade non sono sempre in buone condizioni e non ci sono punti super suggestivi da vedere.
    Ha Giang è una cittadina abbastanza grande dove abbiamo trovato la birra a 40cts!
    Dormiamo qui una notte per riposarci prima del nostro rientro (6 ore!!!) ad Hanoi, dove riconsegniamo dopo 6 giorni le nostre moto, ci prepariamo e partiamo per la prossima meta: le Filippine!

    Last track of the Ha Giang Loop: Dong Van - Ha Giang.
    It was the stage I liked least, the roads are not always in good condition and there are no super suggestive points to see.
    Ha Giang is a fairly large town where we found beer for 40cts!
    We sleep here one night to rest before our return (6 hours!!!) to Hanoi, where we return our motorbikes after 6 days, get ready and leave for the next destination: the Philippines!    Les mer

    Siargao

    Dopo un lungo viaggio, partiti il 4 gennaio al mattino prestissimo siamo arrivati a Cebu lo stesso giorno dopo pranzo, dove abbiamo passato una notte in un piccolo hotel vicino all’aereoporto, dato che il 5 avremmo avuto il volo interno per Siargao, anche quello presto, così da arrivare a Siargao in mattinata per goderci a pieno tutta la giornata.
    A Siargao abbiamo passato 5 giorni bellissimi - io ho imparato a surfare sulle belle onde di Santa Pe, abbiamo mangiato in tanti posti molto buoni e abbiamo fatto il giro in scooter dell’isola, scoprendo tantissimi posti molto belli!
    Durante il nostro giro dell’isola abbiamo visitato delle piscine naturali dentro a delle caverne, abbiamo visto il famoso lookout sulle palme di cocco, fatto tappa a Pacifico a bere un buono smoothie. Ci sono anche diverse belle spiaggie dove ci si può tuffare e rinfrescare.
    È stata una bella settimana su un’isola dalle buone vibes. Ci siamo rilassati e riposati dopo i vari viaggi per arrivare sull’isola e dopo i nostri 6 giorni in giro per il Vietnam in moto.

    After a long journey, we left on January 4th very early in the morning and arrived in Cebu the same day after lunch, where we spent a night in a small hotel near the airport, given that on the 5th we would have had a domestic flight to Siargao, that too early, so as to arrive in Siargao in the morning to fully enjoy the whole day.
    In Siargao we spent 5 wonderful days - I learned to surf on the beautiful waves of Santa Pe, we ate in many very good places and we toured the island on a scooter, discovering many very beautiful places!
    During our tour of the island we visited natural pools inside caves, we saw the famous lookout on the coconut palms, we stopped in Pacifico to drink a good smoothie. There are also several beautiful beaches where you can dive and cool off.
    It was a nice week on an island with good vibes. We relaxed and rested after the various trips to get to the island and after our 6 days around Vietnam by motorbike.    Les mer

    Malapascua

    Malapascua, piccola isoletta a nord dell’isola di Cebu, famosa per il diving con gli squali volpe, è stata la nostra casa per tre giorni.
    A Malapascua abbiamo prevalentemente fatto delle immersioni - il primo giorno siamo stati all’isola di Gato, dove ci siamo immersi in belle conformazioni rocciose, abbiamo visto i pigmey seahorses e l’eletric clamp! Il mare era però abbastanza mosso, per fortuna c’era almeno il sole.
    Il secondo giorno siamo salpati con la pioggia e il vento, delle condizioni abbastanza spaventose per affrontare il mare con le loro barche di legno, soprattutto calcolando che per raggiungere il dive site di Kimud con delle buone condizioni si naviga per un’ora…c’erano grandi onde, la visibilità era scarsa e ogni tanto dovevano rimettere in sesto la barca perchè i colpi delle onde facevano cadere uno o l’altro palo di legno che sosteneva il tetto della barca.
    Arrivati a Kimud ci siamo immersi e siamo andati alla ricerca degli squali volpe, che abbiamo incontrato in grandi quantità. È stata un’emozione vedere questi squali cosi da vicino, molto belli.
    L’avventura nelle onde ne è valsa la pena.

    Le onde e il mal tempo ci hanno accompagnato anche nel rientro a Port Maya, dove avremmo avuto il taxi per continuare verso Moalboal.
    Per via della bassa marea all’inizio non volevano farci partire. Dopo diverse discussioni abbiamo trovato una barca per partire, ma che per uscire dal porto ci ha messo quasi un’ora per via della bassa marea. Alla fine siamo arrivati sani e salvi (ma belli bagnati) a Port Maya, per proseguire con il nostro viaggio verso sud.

    Malapascua, a small island north of the island of Cebu, famous for diving with thresher sharks, was our home for three days.
    In Malapascua we mainly did diving - the first day we went to Gato Island, where we dived into beautiful rock formations, saw the pygmy seahorses and the electric clamp! However, the sea was quite rough, luckily there was at least the sun.
    The second day we sailed in the rain and wind, quite scary conditions to face the sea with their wooden boats, especially considering that to reach the Kimud dive site with good conditions you sail for an hour... there they were big waves, the visibility was poor and every now and then they had to put the boat back together because the blow of the waves caused one or the other wooden pole that supported the roof of the boat to fall.
    Once we arrived in Kimud we dived and went looking for the thresher sharks, which we encountered in large quantities. It was a thrill to see these sharks so close, very beautiful.
    The adventure in the waves was worth it.

    The waves and bad weather also accompanied us on our return to Port Maya, where we would have had a taxi to continue towards Moalboal.

    Moalboal

    Dopo essere stati in viaggio per 8 ore, condividendo un veicolo privato con i nostri nuovi amici Laurent dalla Norvegia e Leona dalla Svizzera, siamo arrivati a Moalboal.
    Moalboal è famoso per le sue coste colme di banchi di Sardine, che si possono ammirare facendo snorkeling o diving.
    Noi siamo scesi con le bombole per ammirarle dal sotto - le sardine erano molto belle da vedere, peccato invece che la barriera corallina sulle coste di Moalboal era molto rovinata, probabile dal tifone nel 2021.
    Purtroppo il maltempo ci ha seguito anche a Moalboal, quindi abbiamo passato il pranzo in un supermercato e poi abbiamo sfidato la pioggia e siamo andati a vedere la famosa White Beach. Mi immagino che col bel tempo sia veramente bella, purtroppo da noi pioveva.
    Alla sera ci siamo trovati a cena con Laurent e abbiamo passato proprio una bella e interessante serata.

    Il secondo giorno (15.1.2023) siamo stati risvegliati dai raggi del sole perciò ne abbiamo approfittato per fare un tuffo con la maschera per vedere le sardine dalla superficie.
    È stato bello, ma c’era tantissima gente, essendo un’attività molto richiesta da tutti i turisti.
    Il pomeriggio abbiamo nuovamente sfidato il brutto tempo e la nebbia per andare a fare due piccole hikes nelle montagne a sud di Moalboal.
    Siamo stati prima al Osmena Peak, e poi al Casino Peak. Entrambi si proclamano la vetta piú alta di Cebu, con i loro 1000m di altitudine.
    La vista era spettacolare, sembrava di trovarsi sulle Chocolate Hills di Bohol. Peccato per la nebbia, perchè con una giornata di bel tempo è possibile vedere anche l’isola di Negros, Moalboal e Bohol da queste vette.

    Tra l’andata e il ritorno abbiamo viaggiato con lo scooter su delle strade con dei panorami spettacolari, anche se in entrambe le direzioni, seguendo il GPS (Google maps) siamo finiti in delle strade paurosissime, una era come i sentieri di montagna, piena di buchi e di fango, molto scivolosa e soprattutto molto ripida, mentre l’altra era in costruzione ed era una strada ripidissima, fatta di sabbietta e con tanti canali probabilmente formati dalle pioggie.
    Per fortuna siamo arrivati sani e salvi, per poterci godere un massaggio rilassante.
    Quello che abbiamo imparato oggi: non fidarsi mai ciecamente di google maps.

    After being on the road for 8 hours, sharing a private vehicle with our new friends Laurent from Norway and Leona from Switzerland, we arrived in Moalboal.
    Moalboal is famous for its coasts full of schools of Sardines, which can be admired while snorkeling or diving.

    In the afternoon we once again challenged the bad weather and fog to go for two short hikes in the mountains south of Moalboal.

    The view was spectacular, it felt like we were in the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. Too bad there was the fog, because on a day of good weather it is also possible to see the island of Negros, Moalboal and Bohol from these peaks.

    Back to Cebu Airport

    Un nuovo giorno di spostamenti quest’oggi! Siamo partiti presto da Moalboal con l’intenzione di prendere un minivan fino a Cebu. Alla fine abbiamo trovato un taxista per poco più rispetto che al prezzo del shared-van, quindi siamo saltati sul taxi di Joel.
    Il bello di viaggiare con un trasporto privato è che possiamo fermarci dove vogliamo, infatti gli abbiamo chiesto di fermarsi a Carcar, un posto famoso per il Lechon (maiale alla griglia), dove abbiamo fatto colazione insieme! È stato molto buono!
    E alla fine siamo arrivati in aereoporto con tre ore di anticipo, dato che il taxi era molto veloce nonostante il traffico che abbiamo incontrato sulla via.
    E ora aspettiamo l’aereo per la nostra prossima destinazione - Coron!

    Coron

    L’isola di Coron è stata la nostra casa per i 4 giorni passati. Abbiamo soggiornato in un hotel bellissimo con vista mare in zona Busuanga, dove ci siamo sentiti dei Re.
    L’hotel è situato vicino ad un dive center dove il proprietario è colui che ha scoperto tutti i wreck giapponesi nella baie di Coron. Abbiamo fatto due immersioni in due wreck molto belli, uno era una portaaerei della seconda guerra mondiale. Abbiamo potuto infilarci nei vari meandri del wreck e vedere le strutture dall’interno.

    Il secondo giorno abbiamo noleggiato una barca assieme ad una famiglia e ci siamo fatti una giornata a vedere alcune delle bellezze di Coron - Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Siete Picados con i suoi bellissimi coralli, Twin Lagoon e la bella CYC Beach.
    È stata una bellissima giornata di relax, snorkeling e freediving.

    Il resto del tempo lo abbiamo passati a rilassarci al nostro hotel e visitando la cittadina di Coron.

    Fin’ora Coron è stato il posto che mi è piaciuto di più.
    Domani (20.1.2024) partiremo per un’attraversata da Coron ad El Nido che dura tre giorni.

    The island of Coron has been our home for the past 4 days. We stayed in a beautiful hotel with a sea view in the Busuanga area, where we felt like kings. The hotel is located near a dive center where the owner is the one who has discovered all the Japanese wrecks in the bays of Coron. We did two dives in two very beautiful Wrecks, one was a World War II aircraft carrier. We were able to go into the various spaces of the Wreck and see the structures from the inside.

    On the second day we rented a boat with a family and we had a day to see some of the beauties of Coron - Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Siete Picados with its beautiful corals, Twin Lagoon and the beautiful CYC Beach. It was a beautiful day of relaxation, snorkeling and freediving.

    We spent the rest of the time relaxing at our hotel and visiting the town of Coron.

    So far Coron was the place I liked the most. Tomorrow (20.1.2024) we will leave for a crossing from Coron to El Nido which lasts three days.    Les mer

    Abbiamo passato gli ultimi tre giorni in mezzo al mare, saltando da isola ad isola e visitando bellissimi posti per fare snorkeling.
    Assieme ad altre 23 persone siamo partiti la mattina del 20.1.2024 da Coron direzione El
    Nido.
    È stata una bellissima esperienza, dove abbiamo conosciuto gente molto simpatica, dormito in capannine sulla spiaggia, giocato a beachvolley, mangiato del cibo STREPITOSO.
    I posti che abbiamo visitato era bellissimi, tutti con dei colori fantastici.

    È stata proprio una bella idea fare questa attraversata, evitando così di prendere il traghetto o un aereo.

    We spent the last three days in the middle of the sea, hopping from island to another and visiting beautiful places for snorkeling. Together with 23 other people we left on the morning of 20.1.2024 from Coron towards El Nido.
    It was a wonderful experience, where we met very nice people, slept in beach huts, played beach volleyball, ate amazing food. The places we visited were beautiful, all with great colors.

    El Nido

    El Nido è un posto famoso in tutto il mondo, conosciuto per il suo mare bellissimo.
    Noi abbiamo passato qui 3 notti, visitando delle belle spiagge e facendo un tour in barca. Il tour in barca è stato incredibile, abbiamo visitato delle lagune (Big Lagoon e secret lagoon) e delle spiagge bellissime, circondate da un mare azzurro-verde.
    Alla Big Lagoon abbiamo noleggiato un kayak che abbiamo guidato nelle bellissime acque della laguna.

    La cittadina di El Nido è anche molto carina, anche se un po tanto caotica.

    Bellissimi i tramonti che si possono ammirare dalle spiagge di El Nido.

    We spent 3 nights here, visiting some beautiful beaches and taking a boat tour.
    The boat tour was incredible, we visited lagoons (Big Lagoon and Secret Lagoon) and beautiful beaches, surrounded by a blue-green sea. At Big Lagoon we rented a kayak that we drove in the beautiful waters of the lagoon.

    Bye bye Philippines

    Dopo un paio di giorni a Port Barton, un bel paesino a tre ore da El Nido, dove abbiamo riposato e ci siamo godute due belle spiaggie, ci siamo recati a Puerto Princesa.
    Lì abbiamo preso il volo per Manila, dove io e Raffi abbiamo passato le ultime ore insieme.
    Infatti Raffi torna in Svizzera, alla fine dei suoi 4 mesi in giro per il sud-est asiatico.
    Io invece mi preparo per la prossima destinazione, la Tailandia - con il mio volo arriverò a Bangkok.

    Sono triste di lasciare il Raffi, ma anche molto contenta della nuova meta.
    Il viaggio non sarà super bello, dato che atterro a Bangkok alle 3 del mattino.

    Vedremo che avventure mi aspettano!

    After a couple of days in Port Barton, a beautiful little town three hours from El Nido, where we rested and enjoyed two beautiful beaches, we went to Puerto Princesa.

    Hello Bangkok

    Che viaggio! Siamo atterrati puntuali a Bangkok alle 2.45 del mattino, ma prima delle 4 non sono uscita dall’aereoporto. La fila per l’immigrazione era interminabile, e una volta superata ho preso un taxi che mi ha finalmente portato al mio hostello, il Greenery Hostel, dove dopo una bella doccia finalmente sono andata a dormire (alle 5.30).

    Dopo una qualche ora di sonno mi sono alzata e ho iniziato a girovagare per la città, iniziando dalla zona shopping della città. È stato impressionante vedere tutti gli shopping mall e la quantità di prodotti che vendono, puoi trovare veramente tutto quello che hai bisogno (e non 😂) a volte anche per prezzi stracciati.
    Nell’arco di pochi km ci sono tanti mall differenti.

    Dopodichè mi sono spostata in centro e sono andata a vedere Chinatown con i suoi mercati e il suo casino. C’erano tantissimi negozietti che vendevano di tutti e di più.

    Per finire la mia giornata ho fatto un salto per cena nella famosa Khao San Road, piena di locali, bancarelle e ristoranti.
    È stata una bella prima giornata nella grande città, anche se molto stancante, soprattutto per i km fatti a piedi.

    What a trip! We landed on time in Bangkok at 2.45 in the morning, but I didn't leave the airport before 4. The queue for immigration was very long, and once I got through it I took a taxi that finally took me to my hostel, the Greenery Hostel, where after a nice shower I finally went to sleep (at 5.30).

    After a few hours of sleep I got up and started wandering around the city, starting from the city's shopping area. It was impressive to see all the shopping malls and the amount of products they sell, you can really find everything you need (and not 😂) sometimes even for rock bottom prices.
    Within a few kilometers there are many different malls.

    Then I moved to the center and went to see Chinatown with its markets and its chaos. There were lots of little shops selling everything and more.

    To finish my day I stopped for dinner on the famous Khao San Road, full of clubs, small shops and restaurants.
    It was a nice first day in the big city, although very tiring, especially due to the kilometers covered on foot.    Les mer

    Bangkok - Day 2

    Stamattina sveglia presto per essere davanti all’entrata del Palazzo Reale alla sua apertura.
    Arrivata in Tuk-Tuk poichè non trovavo un GRAB, sono stata obbligata a cambiarmi (avevo su dei pantaloncini) perché non si può entrare con le gambe e le spalle nude (regola che vale sia per donne che per uomini).

    Il Palazzo Reale è bellissimo! Ha dei colori stupendi ed un’architettura bellissima.
    Vale veramente la pena pagare il prezzo del biglietto, sebbene sia abbastanza alto (500Bath che sono 13CHF).

    Dopodichè mi sono fatta portare al IconSiam shopping center dove ho fatto colazione e sono andata ad ammirare la città dalla bella terrazza panoramica. Peccato che in questo periodo Bangkok è molto inquinata, ma la vista era comunque bella.

    Dopodichè sono andata al MBK Shopping center, punto di ritrovo del mio free walking tour con Luc. È stato molto interessante perchè abbiamo visto come spostarsi facilmente nella città con i vari trasporti pubblici locali, siamo saliti sul tempio della montagna d’orata dove c’è una bella vista della città, per poi raggiungere Khao San Road.
    Lì ci siamo divisi, ed io e due ragazze danesi siamo andate a bere qualcosa insieme.
    Una cosa interessante che abbiamo visto sono del varani che nuotano nelle acque dei canali…a quanto pare sono presenti in grandi quantità anche al parco Lumphini. Magari la prossima volta che sono a Bangkok vado a vederli.

    A fine pomeriggio mi sono rispostata in barca a China Town che era molto viva e piena di street food, per poi prendere la Metro e lo Skytrain per arrivare nuovamente al MBK, dove ho fatto un giro in questo shopping mall di 7 piani e con più di 2000 negozi.
    Assurdo!

    La serata si è conclusa con cenetta e poi a letto!
    Domani ultimo giorno a Bangkok (per il momento).

    This morning I woke up early to be in front of the entrance to the Royal Palace when it opened.
    Arriving by Tuk-Tuk as I couldn't find a GRAB, I was forced to change (I was wearing shorts) because you can't enter with bare legs and shoulders (a rule that applies to both women and men).

    The Royal Palace is beautiful! It has beautiful colors and beautiful architecture.
    It is really worth paying the ticket price, although it is quite high (500Bath which is 13CHF).

    Afterwards I went to the IconSiam shopping center where I had breakfast and went to admire the city from the beautiful panoramic terrace. It's a shame that Bangkok is very polluted at this time, but the view was still beautiful.

    Afterwards I went to the MBK Shopping center, the meeting point of my free walking tour with Luc. It was very interesting because we saw how to easily move around the city with the various local public transports, we went up to the Golden Temple mountain where there is a beautiful view of the city, and then reached Khao San Road.

    An interesting thing we saw were big lizards swimming in the waters of the canals... apparently they are also present in large quantities at Lumphini park. Maybe next time I'm in Bangkok I'll go and see them.

    Bangkok - Day 3

    Ultima giornata piena a Bangkok per il momento! Dopo aver fatto il check-out e lasciato le valigie in ostello, sono uscita per fare una bella colazione e poi visitare il Wat Pho.
    Il Wat Pho è un tempio buddista famoso per la presenza di più di 1000 Buddha (tra statue ed immagini) ma soprattutto per il suo Buddha sdraiato, che è una delle più grandi statie di Buddha (lungo 46m e alto 15m) im Thailandia.
    Il Wat Pho è anche considerata la prima università aperta in Thailandia, dove è possibile apprendere i segreti del massaggio e della medicina thailandese.

    Dopo il Wat Pho ho preso la metro per riavvicinarmi all’ostello e sulla via mi sono fermata a farmi fare un massaggio rilassante.

    Dopodichè, ho cenato sul presto, preso un qualche snack e mi sono diretta con Grab al terminale dei bus Mo Chi di Bangkok, il più grande della città.
    Da qui mi aspettano 12 ore di viaggio in un bus VIP (chiamato così per la comodità dei sedili e del bus) in direzione di Chiang Mai.

    Last full day in Bangkok for now! After checking out and leaving my bags at the hostel, I went out to have a nice breakfast and then visit Wat Pho.
    Wat Pho is a Buddhist temple famous for the presence of more than 1000 Buddhas (including statues and images) but above all for its reclining Buddha, which is one of the largest statues of Buddha (46m long and 15m high) in Thailand.
    Wat Pho is also considered the first university opened in Thailand, where you can learn the secrets of massage and Thai medicine.

    After Wat Pho I took the metro to get closer to the hostel and on the way I stopped to get a relaxing massage.

    Afterwards, I had an early dinner, grabbed some snacks and headed with Grab to the Mo Chi bus terminal in Bangkok, the largest in the city.

    Chiang Mai

    Ho passato i quattro giorni passati a Chiang Mai, una bellissima cittadina al nord della Thailandia.
    Per la prima volta da tempo sono stata in un ostello. L’ostello era bellissimo e ho conosciuto tantissima gente, soprattutto Ludvine, una carissima ragazza dalla Francia con cui ho fatto diverse attività.

    La città ha tantissimi bellissimi templi, il mio favorito è stato quello d’argento (Wat Sri Suphan) che però come donna non puoi visitare dall’interno, ma solo dall’esterno.
    Con Ludvine siamo state anche a vedere il tempio Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep al tramonto, che si trova su di una collina. È stata una bellissima esperienza anche grazie al monaci che cantavano e pregavano.

    Inoltre, i giorni che io ero a Chiang Mai, veniva svolto il famoso festival del fiori. C’era un parco con tutti i tipi di fiori appesi come decorazioni, tantissime orchidee che non avevo mai visto. Inoltre il sabato 3.2.2024 hanno fatto una parata, con carri e bande musicali. I carri erano anche quelli tutti decorati di fiori. È stato uno bellissimo spettacolo!

    Chiang Mai mi è entrata nel cuore, anche grazie ai suoi tanti mercati e street food, dove ho mangiato il cibo più buono in thailandia fino ad ora.

    I spent the past four days in Chiang Mai, a beautiful town in the north of Thailand.
    For the first time in a while I stayed in a hostel. The hostel was beautiful and I met a lot of people, especially Ludvine, a very nice girl from France with whom I did various activities.

    The city has many beautiful temples, my favorite was the silver one (Wat Sri Suphan) which however as a woman you cannot visit from the inside, but only from the outside.
    With Ludvine we also went to see the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple at sunset, which is located on a hill. It was a beautiful experience also thanks to the monks who sang and prayed.

    Furthermore, the days that I was in Chiang Mai, the famous flower festival was held. There was a park with all kinds of flowers hanging as decorations, lots of orchids that I had never seen. Furthermore, on Saturday 3.2.2024 they held a parade, with floats and musical bands. The floats were also all decorated with flowers. It was a beautiful show!

    Chiang Mai has entered my heart, also thanks to its many markets and street food, where I ate the best food in Thailand so far.
    There is so much to see and do, but the nice part is also sitting in a café and enjoying the atmosphere.    Les mer
