    Nach 5 Stunde Verhandlungen um eine Fähre nach Kinshasa zu bekommen, hat es am Ende dann doch endlich geklappt. Scheint auf jedenfall nicht der Regelfall zu sein...
    In Kinshasa hab ich nur eine Nacht verbracht, daher auch nicht viele Eindrücke. Aber hier trennen sich erstmal Majk und meine Wege. Es war mir ein Fest😊

    After 5 hours of negotiations to get a ferry to Kinshasa, it finally worked out in the end. It certainly doesn't seem to be the norm...

    Eigentlich ein recht entspannter Grenzübergang, nur das ich hier noch kein Visum bekommen habe, aber zumindest einen Stempel auf mein E-Visum. Nach den Erfahrungen bisher bin ich gespannt, ob das alles sorgenfrei klappt...
    Aber zumindest haben mich die Grenzpolizisten auf drei Bier eingeladen 😊

    Actually a quite relaxed border crossing, only that I haven't gotten a visa here yet, but at least a stamp on my e-visa. After the experiences so far, I'm curious if everything will work out without any worries...

    Luanda

    Da ich an der Grenze nicht das Visum bekommen habe, musste ich einen Stop in Luanda einlegen. Sehr moderne Stadt, die auf mich einen ganz anderen Eindruck hinterlässt als die bisherigen Großstädte.
    Außerdem konnte ich mein Zelt in einem Yachthafen aufschlagen, die Toiletten, Duschen, WLAN nutzen und das alles für lau.

    Since I didn't get my visa at the border, I had to make a stop in Luanda. Very modern city that leaves a completely different impression on me than the previous big cities.
    I was also able to pitch my tent in a marina, use the toilets, showers, WiFi and all for free.    Meer informatie

    Liebe ist, wie Malaria...

    Nun hat es mich doch erwischt: Malaria. In Luanda hab ich es mir schon gedacht, aber auf die zwei negativen Schnelltests gehört und hab mich auf den Weg gemacht. Nachdem unterwegs mein Energie gegen null ging, hab ich das nächste Krankenhaus aufgesucht. Diagnose war schnell da und ich hab auch gleich die Meds bekommen die ich drei Tage schlucken muss. Die erste Nacht hab ich noch in meinem Zelt am Krankenhaus verbracht und am nächsten Tag hatte eine Ärztin Mitleid mit mir und mich für zwei Tage nicht nur aufgenommen, sondern rund um gepflegt. Mega, dass es solche Menschen gibt.

    Now it got me: malaria. I thought so in Luanda, but listened to the two negative rapid tests and set off. After my energy went to zero on the way, I went to the nearest hospital. The diagnosis was there quickly and I got the meds right away, which I have to swallow for three days. I spent the first night in my tent at the hospital and the next day a doctor took pity on me and not only admitted me for two days, but cared for me all around. Mega that there are such people.     Roadtrip to Zambia

    Bis zur Grenze nach Zambia hab ich erstmal keine weiteren Stops geplant, außer die wunderschöne Landschaft zu genießen und Abends einen schönen Spot zum Campen zu finden. Bei dem gab's einen mega Sternenhimmel inkl. Milchstraße.

    Up to the border to Zambia I didn't plan any further stops, except to enjoy the beautiful landscape and to find a nice spot for camping in the evening. There was a mega starry sky including the Milky Way.    Meer informatie

    Heute hatte ich einen Abschnitt von 160 km der bisher schlechtesten Straße. Hätte ich nach Guinea tatsächlich nicht gedacht. Aber nun sind die Verhältnisse wieder ordentlich und ich hoffe es bleibt so...

    Violetta ist keine Sandmaus

    Meine Hoffnung, das der Zustand der Straße gut bleibt, hatte sich dann irgendwann zerschlagen. Aus immerhin guter fester roter Erde Straße, wurde teilweise eine reine tiefe Sand-Piste. Zuviel für das Getriebe was Mal wieder im nirgendwo aufgegeben hat. Also kurzer Hand mein Zelt aufgeschlagen und auf einen 23 km Marsch am nächsten Tag zum nächsten Dorf mit Mechaniker eingestellt. Aber ich war gerade beim Frühstücken, als ich ein LKW hören konnte und die Jungs haben Violetta kurzerhand verladen und mich mitgenommen. Und da ich die Ersatzteile hatte, konnte der Mechaniker vor Ort Violetta auch schnell wieder in Schuss bringen.

    My hope that the condition of the road would stay good was dashed at some point. After all, a good solid red earth road became partly a pure, deep sandy track. Too much for the gearbox which once again gave up in the middle of nowhere. So I pitched my tent and prepared for a 23 km hike the next day to the next village with a mechanic. But I was just having breakfast when I heard a truck and the boys loaded Violetta up and took me with them. And since I had the spare parts, the mechanic on site was able to quickly get Violetta back in shape.    Meer informatie

    Ich mag Züge

    Auf einen erneuten Versuch durch die Sandwüste hatte ich keine Lust, daher hab ich eine Nacht in Cuemba verbracht, um mich um einen Alternative zu kümmern. Und am Ende ist es der Zug geworden. Der erste Zug seit Mauretanien, wenn man den dazu zählt. Auf jeden Fall überraschend komfortabel, hoffe Violetta geht's ähnlich 😅

    I didn't want to try again through the sandy desert, so I spent a night in Cuemba to look for an alternative. And in the end it became the train. First move since Mauritania, if you count that. Definitely surprisingly comfortable, I hope Violetta feels the same way😅    Meer informatie

    Nach Ankunft in Luena und längere Kontrolle durch die Polizei und Zoll, hab ich die Nacht am Bahnhof verbracht.
    Um nach Sambia zu kommen gibt es drei Grenzübergänge. Auf Empfehlung der Polizei fahre ich am nächsten Tag weit in den Süden, da dort die Straße am besten sein soll.

    Sprichwörtlich mit dem letzten Tropen bin ich im Dunkeln angekommen. Durch Zufall hab ich einen Typen kennengelernt, der mir Benzin organisiert hat und gleich noch einen Schlafplatz angeboten hat. Außerdem will er mich mit seinem Pickup mitnehmen, da ich die Strecke nicht mit meinem Motorrad schaffe, da es sich um tiefen Sand handelt. Und er muss es wissen, da er die Firma leitet die Straße baut.

    Literally with the last trope I arrived in the dark. By chance I met a guy who organized gas for me and immediately offered me a place to sleep. Also, he wants to take me with his pickup truck because I can't do the route on my motorbike because it's deep sand. And he should know, since he runs the company that builds the road.     Nacht mit den Bauarbeitern

    Bin ich froh, dass ich gefahren werde, denn die ”Straße” ist eine reine Sandpiste... Aber scheinbar überträgt sich mein Glück auf andere: Auf Hälfte der Strecke bricht ein Stück der Achse, mitten im nirgendwo. Gut, dass das zweite Auto mit den Mechaniker schnell bemerkt, dass wir ein Problem haben. Da das Problem nicht vor Ort gelöst werden kann, verbringe ich die Nacht im Camp der Baua jarbeiter, was zehn Minuten entfernt ist.
    Mega Erfahrung. Ich bin zwar absolut nicht nützlich dort, aber kann erleben wie man im Busch Sachen repariert und vor allem überlebt. Heißt auch, das einer nachts jagen geht und das Tier am Tag zerlegt wird.
    Gegen Nachmittag war das Auto dann tatsächlich wieder fit und wir konnten bis zur Grenze weiter, wo wir die Nacht verbringen mussten. Vorteile war, dass zu unserer Reisegruppe auch der Kommandant der Grenzpolizei gehörte, der uns dann ein Nachtlager bei ihm angeboten hat.

    I'm glad that I'm being driven, because the "road" is a pure sandy track... But apparently my luck is spreading to others: Halfway along the route, a piece of the axle breaks, in the middle of nowhere. It's a good thing that the second car and the mechanics quickly noticed that we had a problem. Since the problem cannot be solved on site, I spend the night at the construction workers' camp, which is ten minutes away.
    Great experience. I'm absolutely not useful there, but I can experience how things are repaired in the bush and, above all, survived. Also means that one goes hunting at night and the animal is dissected during the day.
    In the afternoon, the car was actually fit again and we were able to continue to the border, where we had to spend the night. The advantage was that our tour group also included the commander of the border police, who then offered us a night's accommodation with him.    Meer informatie

    Sambia🇿🇲

    Am nächsten Tag hat mich die Truppe dann noch bis nach Sikongo gefahren und nach einer Flussüberquerung war es dann geschafft: Sambia! Hätte echt nicht gedacht, dass es so ein Abenteuer wird hier anzukommen 😅
    Und es ging erstmal noch weiter, da die ersten 70 km in Sambia aus einer Sand- und Schotterpiste bestand, bis ich dann endlich wieder Asphalt unter den Füßen hatte. Um dann festzustellen, dass in Sambia Linksverkehr herrscht 😅 Die Nacht habe ich dann bei einem sehr netten Polizisten in Mungo verbracht, den ich zufällig kennengelernt habe.

    The next day the group drove me to Sikongo and after crossing a river it was done: Zambia! I really didn't think that arriving here would be such an adventure 😅
    And it went even further, because the first 70 km in Zambia consisted of a sand and gravel road, until I finally had asphalt under my feet again.     Diesmal die Kette...

    Der Tag fing sehr entspannt an und die ersten 200 km waren sehr entspannt. Dann ging es über eine Schotterpiste, die sich auch ganz gut fahren ließ, bis meine Kette gerissen ist. Natürlich wieder im nirgendwo. Zum Glück kam nach etwa einer Stunde ein LKW-Konvoi die mich und Violetta einsammeln. Einer der Fahrer fragte nur, ob ich wissen würde wir gefährlich es hier ist, wegen dem Löwen und so... Gut das ich das nicht... 😅
    Die Fahrt ging bis zur nächsten Stadt, in der ich dann einen Bus bis Kitwe, kein nächstes Ziel, nehmen konnte, um dann mich in Ruhe um Violetta zu kümmern.

    The day started very relaxed and the first 200 km were very relaxed. Then it went over a gravel road, which was also quite easy to drive until my chain broke. Of course again in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, after about an hour, a truck convoy came to collect me and Violetta. One of the drivers just asked if I knew how dangerous it is here, because of the lion and stuff... Thank good, I didn't know that 😅

    Beautiful Gate

    Die nächsten drei Wochen habe ich in Kitwe verbracht und durfte das Projekt “Beautiful Gate" unterstützen. Dies wurde von Bill und Thilma gegründet, bei denen ich auch die Zeit über gewohnt habe. Durch das Projekt versuchen sie die Kinder von der Straße zu bekommen. Zum Projekt gehören eine Schule, eine Farm und eine Lehrwerkstatt. Ziel ist es denn Kindern Wissen und Fähigkeiten beizubringen, damit sie ihr eigenes Geld verdienen können. Fantastisches Projekt und fantastische Menschen.
    Ich durfte neben streichen und Ordnung schaffen, auch Steine herstellen. Dafür nimmt man einen alten Termitenhaufen, lockert den, Wasser dran und man kann Steine formen. Aber am meisten Eindrücke bleiben bei mir bei der Essensausgabe hängen, die zweimal die Woche stattfinden. Nicht nur das ich zum ersten Mal Nshima selbst zubereitet habe, sondern die Eindrücke von kleinen Menschen, die es echt hart im Leben getroffen hat...

    I spent the next three weeks in Kitwe and was able to support the “Beautiful Gate” project. This was founded by Bill and Thilma, where I also used the time to get the children from the street. The project includes a school, a farm and a teaching workshop. The aim is to teach children knowledge and skills so that they can earn their own money. Fantastic project and fantastic people.
    I was allowed to make stones in addition to painting and order. To do this, take an old top pile, loosen it, water on it and you can shape stones. But the most impressions get stuck with the food edition, which take place twice a week.     Eindrücke aus Kitwe

    Drei Wochen durfte ich auch am Leben in Sambia teilnehmen, was nochmal eine andere Erfahrung ist, als nur ein Land zu bereisen. So habe ich an einer Beerdigung teilgenommen, was kein positiver Anlass ist, mir aber die Chance gab, hier eine andere Kultur kennenzulernen. Es gibt einige Parallelen, aber auch viele Unterschiede.
    Die letzten Fotos sind auf dem Haus von Thilma und Bill, die ich als Mittelschicht bezeichnen würde. Größte Einschränkung war wohl, dass es nur zweimal am Tag fließendes Wasser gab...

    I was also allowed to take part in life in Zambia for three weeks, which is a different experience than just traveling to one country. So I attended a funeral, which is not a positive occasion, but gave me the chance to get to know another culture here. There are some parallels, but also many differences.

    Bye bye Violetta

    Rund 22.000 km, tausende Erinnerung, ein riesen Abenteuer, aber es ist soweit: Ich trenne mich von Violetta und das mit einem lachenden sowie weinenden Auge... Weinend, weil ich wir es nicht zusammen nach Südafrika schaffen, aber lachend, dass wir es bis hier geschafft haben.
    Leider hat waren die Ersatzteile zu teuer und es hätte auch noch eine Weile gedauert. Außerdem hab ich hier einen Käufer gefunden, der mir meinen Preis zahlt. Aber der Hauptgrund ist auch einfach, ich hab genug Abenteur erlebt und freue mich einfach darauf durch die Gegend gefahren zu werden und auf die Treffen mit Alex in Namibia, sowie Sebastian & Olly in Südafrika.
    Was ein Trip, Zeit für Urlaub 😅

    Around 22,000 km, thousands of memories, a huge adventure, but the time has come: I'm parting from Violetta and with mixed feelings... Crying because we can't make it to South Africa together, but laughing that we can have made it this far.
    Unfortunately, the spare parts were too expensive and it would have taken a while. I also found a buyer here who will pay my price. But the main reason is also simple, I've had enough adventures and I'm just looking forward to being driven around and meeting Alex in Namibia and Sebastian & Olly in South Africa.

    Namibia

    Zum ersten Mal auf dieser Reise hab ich eine Grenze mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln überquert. Und die Straße von Livingston zur Grenze hat mir gezeigt, warum ich froh bin mehr Motorrad zu fahren. Die Straße war echt kein Vergnügen...😅 Aber dafür bin ich im vorletzten Land angekommen: Namibia. Jetzt noch eine Busfahrt von 15 h und ich darf ein sehr vertrautes Gesicht sehen😊

    For the first time on this trip I crossed a border using public transport. And the road from Livingston to the border showed me why I'm glad to ride my bike more. The road was really no fun...😅 But I arrived in the penultimate country: Namibia. Now another 15 hour bus ride and I get to see a very familiar face😊    Meer informatie
