• Day 19: 1st Lock: Lille Edet

    September 15, 2024 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

After about 25 kilometers of day, I don't want more! There are only 11 km to my daily goal, but I am generally exhausted, I can't sit any more, my back hurts and so I was looking for an overnight stay on a cattle pasture. (I have not seen cattle so far ...) This is the first time on the journey that I paddled less than I had planned. Doesn't matter! So tomorrow I will be in Trollhättan very early and can still look in the afternoonat to the old locks and the area around, which should be very nice. I didn't see that much from the lock in Lilla Edet today, because I walked around the power plant with my boat ... but it is probably the oldest lock in Sweden with an impressive lifting height of 6m. Unfortunately, every signage and also description for canoe/ kayakers are missing such how/ where to take place. But I found a jetty and information on the power plant side on salmon trade, walked along the street pushing my kayak and was able to put the boat in the water again near Vattenfall. To the lock, the current became stronger but easy to handle, just bit exhausting ...
Otherwise the weather was great again, so I switched to the T-shirt again for paddling ... Really, what are I lucky with the weather!
Tomorrow I'm looking forward to Trollhättan ...
