  • Boatside Resort

    24 oktober 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Day 4:
It was our first time staying in a marina and we felt fancy. After the concierge took us to our birthing on Hamilton Island, we went for a walk and realised that we could hire a buggy. Lachie and I were really excited, but not as excited as Mum, who couldn’t wait to explore the island in style.

After hiring a buggy, we went around and explored the island, but first we had to go for a swim in the resort pool. After swimming, we kept on exploring, and decided to go to One Tree Hill for sunset. One tree Hill is a massive lookout overlooking the passage and other islands. While we were at One Tree Hill, a cockatoo stole my packet of lollies out of the golf buggy and I was fuming.

By the end of the day we decided to stay an extra night in the harbour, so we could use the buggy more and go for a walk in the morning😟.

  • Living in Luxury

    25 oktober 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    Day 5:

Our big boat looked tiny birthed in the marina, but we’re still living in luxury. We had a big day planned, but first up was the walk up to Passage Peak that Lachie and I had been dreading. The walk was to the highest point on the island and gave a 360 degree view of the passage, and the surrounding islands.

Since we hired the buggy, Lachie and I have been asking to drive it. As it was our last day on the island, Dad let us drive it. Lachie and I were pumped. Lachie drove first and he took it slow because he didn’t want to break it, but once he was done it was my turn. I put the pedal to the metal and Lachie said he was scared because I was going so fast, it felt like it was going tip when I turned.

After Lachie and I drove the golf buggy we went to get our stuff so we could go for a swim, but before we could go for a swim, we had to drop off the buggy😢😢. After going for a swim and having to take the shuttle bus back, I felt like a peasant.

By the time we got back from a swim it was time to go up and have dinner at the Tavern that overlooked our birthing in the marina.

  • Bye bye

    26 oktober 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Day 6:

What a way to start our last day on the Whitsundays, winding in a decent size shark. Mum was also pretty happy, leaving the fishing spot with the biggest fish, providing lunch.

We decided to head to Hill Inlet after checking out Whitehaven, because it just wasn’t the same. After cooking up some breakfast we decided to keep trolling because we still hadn’t caught a Mackey. After trolling for about half an hour we finally hooked on. When I got it up to the boat Lachie saw that it was a mackeral right before it got off. Off course, we had to keep trolling, but we never got another hit.

After doing a little bit of exploring, we decided to head back in case the wind blew up early tomorrow. It was an alright ride home and Mum felt super safe because Lachie and I drove the whole way. We ended up sleeping in the boat ramp car park so we could wake up early and go for a swim in the man-made beach.

  • Airlie Beach

    27 oktober 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Day 7:

Mum and Dad finally gave in and let Lachie and I higher electric scooters.

While waiting for the shop to open, we got Maccas for breakfast and had a swim in the Airlie Beach man-made lagoon.

The electric scooters were so fun, that we rode all around Airlie and I got a top speed of 30 km/h. After riding around all the boardwalks, unfortunately our two hours was up, everyone was sad because we were all having lots of fun zipping around the foreshore.

On the way home, we stopped at The Big Crab to try the famous crab burger, dad enjoyed it but I didn’t think it was that crash hot.

  • Spooky spooky

    31 oktober 2023, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Zenna from the general store hosts a Halloween party every year and because we stayed longer at Jared’s, we got to go.

Lachie and I dressed up as characters out of the purge. When we went trick-or-treating, we started at the general store and walked all the way to the cul-de-sac around the corner. By the end of the walk, Lachie and I had completely filled our buckets up with lollies.Läs mer

  • Walsh’s Pyramid

    7 november 2023, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We got up early to hike up Walsh’s Pyramid. It was a 6.2k return walk.

After a very steep and painful hike to the top, it started to sprinkle and we were enclosed in clouds. We thought the view was going be beautiful, but instead the only thing we could see was clouds.

We started the steep decline back to the car with sweat dripping off our forehead. When we got to the car, we checked the time and it took 2 1/2 hours to get up and one and a half to come down.

  • My last birthday on the road

    18 november 2023, Australien ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

I woke up bright and early because it was finally my birthday. After waiting for everybody else to wake up mum and dad surprise me with a VR headset. I was super excited because l’d wanted one since before we left home. After setting up my VR headset I played it for about two hours before having French toast for breakfast. After breakfast uncle Ben surprised me with a ginormous Barra and he gave me his old phone.

After a great morning, it was finally time to go gel blasting. I have been wanting to do this since last year. I invited uncle Ben, Jared, Peyton, Eva, Mum, Dad, and Lachie. We played for 90 minutes and played about three or four games, but my favourite was the search and destroy. Search and destroy was where one team had to protect the bomb and the other team had to disarm it.

After an exciting and painful game we decided to go to the park and have some nibbles to finish the day.

  • #2 birthday

    19 november 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I was so lucky because instead of having a birthday, I had a birthday weekend.

For the second day of my birthday weekend, we went out to the Franklin Islands with Jared and uncle Ben. Once we got out on the island uncle Ben, Lachie and l blew up uncle Ben’s ginormous floaty (with a blower). The floaty was so big that it had its own neted pool and esky, so we decided to chill out on it and have nibbles for lunch.

After lunch, Lachie put detergent all over the floaty and we tried to stand up on it while Jared was pushing it around.

After a soapy session it was time to head back everyone was a bit sad because it was going be our last time on the island.

  • Hunting deer

    21 november 2023, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Dad’s alarm went off at 2 o’clock in the morning to go hunting, so we could fill the freezers up with deer.

As Lachie drove down the driveway, we spotted some deer so I spotlighted the deer as dad shot one. After we shot one, we quickly drove around the other side of the paddock and shot another one. After we shot the two deer we put one on the back of the car and went and woke up J’red before going to collect the second.

After hanging the deer, we got some photos and butchered them before it got too hot. We were all happy because we needed to fill the freezer up to bring some home.

  • Cape Hillsborough

    2 december 2023, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 30 °C

Cape Hillsborough is famous for Kangaroos and Wallabies on the beach. The Kangaroos and Wallabies usually come out early in the morning, so we got up at 5am to see them. When we got down to the beach there was two kangaroos and two Wallabies. After taking lots of photos we decided to walk across to Wedge Island.

Wedge Island was special because you can only walk to it at low tide.

At the caravan park there was heaps of activities. We played ping-pong, chairs, pool, putt-putt and went swimming but my favourite was ping-pong because I’ve never properly played it before.

  • Rockhampton Free Zoo

    4 december 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Rockhampton had a free zoo, so we decided to check it out.

My favourite animals were the chimpanzee, because I had never seen one before and the meerkat because they were cute and funny. They looked like they were on guard watching for predators.

After the zoo we played on the playground in the Botanical Gardens. It was cool because it had lots of fig trees to climb and a giant dingo, and you could climb up its butt.

  • Yeppoon and Rockhampton

    4 december 2023, Australien ⋅ 🌙 27 °C

At Yeppoon, we went to Shell World. It was pretty shelltacular. We looked at the shells and we had a lot of the ones that were there.

After going for a skate we went for a swim in the infinity pool at Yeppoon.

On the last night in Rockhampton, we went to Hogs Breath and I got baby back ribs. The best bit was the giant Sunday we got for dessert.

While wandering around the Botanical Gardens we noticed a sign for a light show, so we booked tickets to go.

The light show told the story of how Dasher meet Santa Clause. Along the way there was signs telling the story and lights showing the story. It was lots of fun following the lights, running through the snow and following Dasher.Läs mer

  • Fun Catch Ups

    6 december 2023, Australien ⋅ 🌬 31 °C

Mum and dad took us back to visit our friends Xanthie, Evie and Xephyr. We had been waiting to see them for a long time so we were very excited.

When we got there we decided to go to the skate park and then get slushies. After slushies we set up the slip and slide in Emma’s back yard and played on the trampoline.

The parents surprised up by taking us to the aqua fun park. We had heaps of fun chasing each other and launching each other off the blow up pillow.

We wanted stay longer, but unfortunately we only had time to spend one night.

Lachie and I were excited because we haven’t really used kayaks before. So we decided to paddle over to the sandbank and go for a fish. After fishing for about an hour, I decided to go back because we hadn't caught anything, but Mum and Loche stay out for a little bit longer.Läs mer

  • Wooli

    8 december 2023, Australien ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Wooli was the last place we used the tinny on our trip, we were trying to catch bream and flathead but unfortunately we didn’t get any.

Luckily, there was lots of other things to do. My favourite was the cliff hanger and the Wooli Wedge. The cliff hanger was an inflatable slide that was 10 meters high, as you dropped it made your stomach drop. The Wooli Wedge was a ginormous slide that you went down on a mat, I did not get a wedge.

One night the went over and watched The Bad Guys at the outdoor cinema. We scored huge bean bags to lay on.

After 4 nights, we had no fish, no wedgies but we had a good time.

The rest of the time, we hung out around the caravan park. We hired go carts, played at the playground, went to the games room and went swimming.

  • Three Years on the Road

    18 december 2023, Australien ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

In 2021, I was 9 when we left to travel around Australia. We left in January after living at nan and pop’s for few months.

Uncle Shaun, Aunty Kat, Byron and Lyla also left with us. We planned on travelling for two years, but not long into the trip we all started to talk about travelling for longer. Unfortunately, Uncle Shaun, Aunty Kat, Lyla and Byron could not stay longer. We separated in February 2022, when they started to head home. We ended up travelling for three years. We got home in December of 2023 and I was 12.

We made it to all the states in Australia except for Tasmania, because it is too cold there.

I had an amazing adventure travelling around Australia. I learnt a lot of new skills that most other kids would not get the chance to do. I learnt to drive an excavator and a car. I helped hunt and butcher a deer.

My favourite place in Australia was Jared’s farm in Babinda. Hunting, riding, driving, island hoping and going to the Great Barrier Reef pretty much sums up why I loved Babinda so much.

I had mixed feelings when I got home. I was happy to see my friends and family, but I was sad that I had to go back to school and not be able to hunt deer, ride my motorbike and take the boat out whenever we want.
