    Franz Josef to Greymouth

    February 19 in New Zealand ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

We've covered some miles in the last two days traveling from Cromwell to Franz Josef yesterday and on to Greymouth today. We were a bit lucky getting a spot at Franz - there are huge numbers of travelers on the road. We set out to see the glacier this morning but it was raining and the cloud was right down the valley. We still visited the little church where once you could see the glacier through the altar window.
The red bridge is the last of the bridges we used to share with the trains. It's not that long since a dedicated road bridge went in - I remember the old one and several like it.
Tonight we're at the Greymouth Golf Club. You get to stay for the price of your green fees so Dave and Mark attempted a round but got rained off. We will try again in the morning. Mark tried to sneak out for some cheeky iron practice after dinner but Dave spotted him and came out to coach in his dressing gown.
