On August 8th, we had friends and family over for Christmas in August, our annual summer food feast, which we host since we spend the winter holidays in Arizona. Randy prepared his delectable smoked ribs and chicken, accompanied by delicious side dishes, salads, and desserts contributed by our guests. It was a great afternoon visiting, playing cornhole and disc golf. We had a toast in memory of my uncle, Dan Hinatsu, who lived a long, full life before passing at 102 years of age.
Last Monday, we had a delicious dinner at our pickleball friends, Tina and Mike's beautiful home. It was fun getting together with them and with Shery and Kirk. Many thanks to Mike and Tina for their hospitality and delicious food.
Last Wednesday, we headed north to visit our dear friends, Gary and Carrie, at their home on Brown Island. On the way, we stopped in Mt. Vernon for lunch and a walking tour of this charming town on the banks of the Skagit River.
We had five relaxing, wonderful days of hiking around the island, pickleball, cornhole, reading, jigsaw puzzling, making sourdough bread, cruising to Wescott Bay for lunch, and enjoying fantastic meals prepared by Gary and Carrie. As always, they were perfect hosts. We are truly blessed to have such generous, lifelong friends.
On our return drive home, we stopped by Pleasant Ridge Farm for fresh produce. Thanks for the suggestion, Gary and Carrie—good fruits and veg and a beautiful route off the main highway.
