• Tikal Ruins Guided Tour

    March 9 in Guatemala ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

We spent a memorable morning walking through history at the impressive site of Tikal. The Mayan site is set in the heart of the jungle, in Tikal National Park, home to over 200 species of trees as well as temples, plazas, carved stone monuments and public squares. There are more than 3000 buildings in all, dating as far back as 600 BC. This magnificent tropical rain forest is home to spider monkeys, jaguars, holler monkeys, toucans, quetzals, eagles, macaws, anteaters and armadillos. Although we did not see this jaguar, our guide saw it the previous time he visited and shared his video. Episode four of Star Wars was filmed here, making it much more famous to the general public. We enjoyed a free afternoon and devoured some delicious tacos and sipped on a Jamaican Rose at a waterfront restaurant, where we watched the sun go down.Read more
