    The Tyropoeon street was once a major traffic artery in the Second Temple Period. Down through the centuries, Jerusalem has been besieged, conquered and destroyed many times. In 70 AD, the Roman army under the emperor Titus took Jerusalem and Herod’s Temple was totally destroyed ending the First Jewish Revolt.
