Excitement : One month to go!

Excitement is building!
Only one month to go until we take off for London to participate in the pomp & Ceremony of the Royal Platinum Jubilee Celebration! Accommodation is booked and many activities, fit for a Queen, are awaiting; including Royal Afternoon Tea cruise on the Thames, Brunch at Sky-garden, visit to Windsor Castle as well as exclusive Royal London walking tour to discover hidden secrets & stories!
Also excitedly looking forward to ABBAsolutely fun and futuristic “Voyage” concert in the brand new purpose built ABBA stadium and a night of Mediterranean deliciousness and unique theatre at “Mamma Mia the Party !” at the O2 arena.
An exciting side trip to the Peak District in Middle UK to visit friends and a sojourn to the picturesque Italian Riviera, Cinque Terre (Five towns) is exciting and hopefully relaxing as we enjoy our second Summer with leisurely lunches, lazily wandering through painted villages and laneways, swimming in turquoise water followed by lashings of delectable local Italian food & wine.
This is a dream trip, to actually be in London, in what will be the biggest Royal Celebration in history as Queen Elizabeth becomes the only Monarch to have reigned for 70 glorious years!もっと詳しく

Is this really happening?

… So, it feels like I have had so many things to contend with over the last couple of months that I have not even had time to daydream about the fact I am going on the holiday of a lifetime!
Perhaps that is how it feels with most people who really need a holiday? But, I honestly think that the past couple of Covid years has made many of us even question if adventure & vacations were going to be possible again!
I actually don’t think I’ll actually realise I am on vacation until I am sitting in my seat on the flight out of the country…
Covid has messed with our inner capacities to daydream, imagine and believe we can manifest our thoughts into some sort of reality.
I try to create a life that I don’t need a vacation from but, in all honesty, I need a vacation now more than ever! I know many people feel the same because they have expressed it to me and empathise with exactly how I feel…
So, bring on May 30 and may it be everything that I hope for…もっと詳しく

One week to go!

Excited. Trepidation. Anticipation. Disbelief…
Some of the feelings conjured up with a week to lift off! Packing has not commenced as yet but definitely watching the international weather patterns (…lots of Sunshine in London apparently…!) to ascertain needs to convince myself to cut back items and ensure the luggage does not turn from essential to inconvenient!
Richard and I recognise that going from two years of hermit isolation to celebration mode with the anticipated record history making crowds may require sensible & reflective navigation…
Self imposed activity limitation for the next week to ensure the dreaded Covid keeps a respectable distance.
Looking forward to sharing our thoughts, activities & oddities over the next month…
Buckle up and enjoy the ride!もっと詳しく

Not long now..!

Yesterday I woke up to 10 missed messages and emails informing me that our second London Airbnb had been cancelled! As you could imagine, I bounced out of bed with some anger and anxiety in equal measure! Those who know me will understand that I organised all of the accommodation three months ago and put hours of research into doing so. To have this happen at the final hour was quite a blow…
In true Troy-style I used my adrenaline to explore Booking.com until I found some options to share with Richard, who thankfully, helped make the final decision when my mind was mushy, like English green peas! Hopefully the first AirBnB will finally respond to messages sent over the last week so that we have keys to our first accommodation on arrival in London Tuesday… Needless to say that AirBnB will never be supported by me again. Interestingly, other stories emerge with similar situations which makes me feel a little better…
To add to our current travel arrangements Richard has been informed of some very sad news about dear Shirley! He sung his lungs out last night in honour of her and we will be toasting her at every opportunity on our trip.
On a brighter note, Trooping the Colour rehearsals have been held in London and the opening night of ABBA Voyage concert has flooded the Internet with excitement and jubilation! These images, videos and effervescent reporting have overshadowed the negativity somewhat.
Let’s hope there are no more curveballs and we can let the celebrations begin… 🥳もっと詳しく

Glad some things have been sorted. Sorry to hear about Shirley. Hopefully everything goes well from here on!!! [Loredana Cardinali]

Only way is Up!

In the immortal words of Yazz: The only way is up!
…In one final blow Richard tested positive for Covid and had to cancel his flight! With some luck he may get a negative PCR test and be on the next flight out tomorrow. Worst case scenario perhaps joining me on the Italian Riviera!
Let’s hope that you are right Susan…
If it’s falling apart now then hopefully it will all come together over there! Fingers crossed 🤞
In the meantime I am doing a slow pub crawl of all the international terminal hotspots! Aperol spritz at Brunetti and a white sangria at the Bar Pulpo watering hole!
…boarding in an hour so that surely gives me time to make more lemonade with these lemons 🍋
For those wondering about airport delays…so far…negative on that front! Through customs in under half hour and not a word of Covid anywhere…
One observation since last travelling is that I need my reading glasses to see anything! Ah! Getting older: such sweet farkin’ bliss!
2 hours til takeoff. 14 to Doha. 3 in Doha. 7 to London…
To infinity & beyond!
Harry, Meghan, Archie & Lilibet… get in line bitches! I’m the bigger Drama Queen 😜👑もっと詳しく

Notting Hill, B.O & Pies at 5am

Wow! That was certainly a huge first leg! 14 hours since departing from Melbourne and currently sitting in Doha at 35°
Probably didn’t sleep more than a couple of hours, especially as I had a XXL man who had raised his seat arm so he could fit… Consequently, almost sitting/sleeping on me! It didn’t help that he had a very bad BO problem either… Thank God (or Allah!?) for the mask in this case 🙄😷
The food and service on Qatar 🇶🇦 is outstanding! The only odd choice was the snack of a meat pie at 5 am! The rest of the meals were extremely well done, nutritious and delicious 😋
I settled in and watched One Night in Soho (..very strange flick) and got teary-eyed watching Notting Hill, knowing I’ll be physically there this weekend.
I’m reminded just how far Australia 🇦🇺 is from the rest of the world 🌍 12,000km and still half as far to go again! Hopefully the Airbnb con artists will not play funny buggers in 7 hours time… it will be in no mood to play hide 🫣 & seek!もっと詳しく

Airbnb Accomodation Relief!

AirBnB have redeemed themselves… For today! Thankfully, the accommodation is luxurious and very lovely. To be honest, it ALMOST makes up for the grief they gave me with all the changes and cancellations. I have even added my own touch to the “Juliet balcony” as you will see in the photos! God save our longest reigning Queen in history 🇬🇧🥰👑👜
The apartment has a lovely park behind it which leads onto Embankment on the Thames! (For the uninitiated, it’s a simple 10 minute stroll to Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden & Leicester Square.
Perfect location!
Even went for a wander through the West End & Old Compton Street past Admiral Duncan’s but just couldn’t pluck up the stamina and courage to head in…perhaps tomorrow! Once again, had Richard been here I’m sure we’d have added that extra spark of Dutch Courage.
It’s 9.42pm. The sun ☀️ has gone to bed and so must I…もっと詳しく

London At Last!

Wow!
To say I’m exhausted is an understatement but that didn’t stop me from my ritual of heading straight to my London ‘touch point’ Big Ben! Even against a dreary drizzly London Spring day the recent refurbishment looks awesome: shiny golden & new! The accomodation is one tube stop from the Elizabeth Tower so I walked above ground, from Embankment, along the Thames, to catch a glimpse today…and, as always, my heart skipped a beat! 🕰🥰
I was going to leave it at that (as I knew the 30+ travel hours had taken a toll) but I seemed to just follow the crowd and check out the local area…ended up walking down the Mall to Buckingham Palace to see that there were some rehearsals going on but sadly realised that seeing the actual artists on stage would not be possible because huge fences have been erected around the entire area…oh well…I’m still here so that’s the main thing. Many roads have been closed so it was quite unique to be wandering around the middle of the road without traffic…
And: check out the flags & bunting everywhere.
Pushed myself as far as I could so I could actually comprehend that I was finally here! Hopefully after an actual sleep 😴 in a bed, I will be renewed to explore, celebrate and reflect on the history defining moment I’m about to be a part of!
Such a shame Richard can’t be here to enjoy the jubilant Jubilee with me. These are the times we still live in…although you’d never know it here in London: nobody is wearing masks 😷 anymore, anywhere: the tube is packed and it’s business as usual!
Good night
It’s 9.30pm and still light out! Seems strange but tomorrow is Summer here…alas, I feel I’ve made a slight packing error! Well, the shorts should come in handy next week in Italy 🇮🇹もっと詳しく

Royal Jubilee 👑 Walking Tour

This is my view for lunch today! The sun has come out and people are everywhere… The atmosphere is electric and jubilant! I truly feel honoured to be in London at this historic time. This is history and I am in it!
Today, as I did 25 years ago for the first time, I headed to the Tesco at Westminster tube station, right next door to Big Ben and bought a lunch deal for 5 pound! As I enjoy my BBQ Chicken, bacon & Cheese with Branston pickle “Garden Party Picnic 🧺 style” Big Ben chimes 1pm: a pinch-myself moment!
Our guide Claire took us to all the rehearsal hotspots today and we were able to get some fantastic footage of changing the guards and learn about the best spots to be for all the long weekend celebrations!
We started at James Park tube station and headed to Queen Anne’s Walk. We saw some typical Queen Anne style architecture over doors (see photos). She was last Queen of the Stuart era. None of her children lived to continue to Stuart dynasty sadly.
Afterwards we headed to St Jame’s Palace, built by King Henry the VIII, in typical Tudor style. We saw a black chauffeur driven vehicle head into Clarence house (which is next door). We all hoped it could be Charles & Camilla…
Overwhelmed with emotion and as I watched the guards march down the Mall I honestly was beginning to tear up, realising where I was and what was happening all around me! It is a truly life changing experience to be here at this moment in time!もっと詳しく

And it’s something nowhere else in the world has. They can criticise the royals all they like but the ‘people’ love them and the pomp and ceremony. Long love the Queen [Julie Torcasio]

旅行者The respect that everyone has for the Queen is palpable! It is everywhere, everyone is excited and jubilant… All of the pubs are decorated and all the shops have bunting and flags as well!

I love the Nightlife!

25 years on, after working together at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square the lovely Marta and I finally caught up; where it all happened in front of the Empire Cinema… So fantastic to reminisce and recollect the fun times we had in 1997 when we worked together…
It seems we both have the same addiction to London and everything Royal which allowed conversation to flow in all directions… Maybe just slightly more vigourous and exuberant after a couple of Aperol spritz’s for the questionable price of £11!
After dinner we wandered all through Piccadilly circus, Leicester Square and Soho recounting our similar experiences through the years…and beyond *wink wink”😉
Another big day tomorrow with very high hopes we may catch a glimpse of the lady we all honour for her traditional birthday parade!もっと詳しく

Trooping the Jubilee Colour

Woke up with a very bright spring & bounce in my step this morning. The four day long weekend has commenced! …the alarm was set for 6:30am but I was already awake and up well before that went off in anticipation of making sure I could find a good vantage point along the Mall…Met Marta at the St James Tube to discover that millions of other people had the exact same idea and when we arrived there was already a crowd five lines deep along the entire length of the Mall, leading up to the Palace!
Clutch the pearls when I tell you that it was an extremely full on day! The reality was that I was hemmed in (sardine-style) a square foot of ground for five straight hours, barely able to move an inch with other people constantly encroaching on my personal space. I became extremely hungry and thirsty and obviously would have liked to be able to use a restroom! I knew though, that leaving my square foot of prime Real Estate would have been jubilant suicide! It would’ve meant forfeiting it forever to the hoards of other people around you!
I was going to resist applying & revealing my true feelings about the day but, the reality was, yes, it was wonderful to know you were part of real history making stuff but anybody who was watching it on TV would have seen way more than we did as part of the crowd! I hope that doesn’t sound ungrateful… Don’t get me wrong, I feel extremely privileged and grateful to be here for this historic moment in time but today was extremely full on in every way shape and form! (I haven’t been sleeping that well, perhaps not recovering as easily from jet lag as I get more “mature” 🤦♂️😜
We all hoped to get a glimpse of Her Majesty being escorted down the Mall in, at least, a land rover, but watched her come out onto the balcony on the huge screen set up in St James Park…we did get to watch all the other significant Royals pass by in coaches though, including William, Charles, Camilla, Kate and the 3 Royal Rugrats!
I’m sure, with a more rested perspective I’ll will gratefully appreciate the opportunity to stand among the masses as a part of Royal history but right now I’m spent; exhausted & overwhelmed…
Noteworthy side events where the crowd went wild were when 5-6 protesters who jumped the barricades and were instantly set upon by extremely efficient bobbies and carted off to the full roaring “boos” of the masses. The other notable cheers went out to the street sweepers (which, I’m certain, wouldn’t have made the telecasts…) as they busied themselves scooping up the horse 🐴 do-do… they willingly played along; giving a Royal wave as they essentially vacuumed up the mess 💩
So, in retrospect, it was an enjoyable day…just HUGE in every way! Every street in London is flooded with crowds: every eatery has lines waiting to get in; including McDonalds & Pizza Hut! London is like a rock concert on steroids! The absolute and total gratefulness and love for Queen Elizabeth is palpable and so genuine! It is beautiful to witness this emotion ❤️❤️❤️
As my body, once again, fills with hydration I am, even now, beginning to realise the significance of my place in this historic and jubilant celebration! God save our Queen 👑もっと詳しく

25 years on..!

A trip to London would never be complete without my obligatory wander through history… Now a quarter of a century on and wandering around my old haunts makes me very reflective and retrospective…
Walking across Waterloo Bridge reminds me of the numerous times I wandered to and from work at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square or after going out to HEAVEN under the arches, near Embankment Tube station 🚉
Big Ben has always represented everything magical about London! It doesn’t matter from which angle I see it it really fdoes fill my heart with joy!
I recall living in Secker Street, Waterloo and often calling into the FISHGOTHEQUE to buy 20p worth of hot chips to put inside some fresh bread to make a chip butty! Drinks with mates (warm beer introduced me to the always chilled choice of Bulmers Cider) with mates at The White Hart Pub which I could see (and hear) from my dorm window!
1997 is always remembered fondly for introducing me to my love for this vibrant city!もっと詳しく

I can tell you you would not have liked being in that crowd one bit! Jubilee High Tea on the Thames

Started the day with a wander through the beautiful Covent Garden… Compared to yesterday it was bliss being able to just wander aimlessly along the cobbled streets & soak up the atmosphere.
Happened upon a cute little French bakery in one of my all time favourite areas, Soho, Cafe Boheme, pulled up a chair & soaked in the atmosphere: Billy Holiday crooning while devouring freshly made coffee (the best I’ve had in London) and flaky baked croissant 🥐
Continued on to search for the Phoenix garden which is the last of the Covent Garden community gardens. It was featured in one of my favourite Christmas movies, Last Christmas! So peaceful 🪴 nothing but birdsong and filtered sunlight through the trees 🌳…a touching tribute to George Michael on the entrance gate.
This afternoon Marta and I enjoyed high tea on the Thames in honour of the Queen! It was quite hilarious… You could tell that it was slightly disorganised & the staff were flying by the seat of their pants! It was like being a board a Carry On movie set! The girl that was at the bar all of a sudden became the commentator on the Queen‘s life. Her commentary was rushed and very cockney. Later up at the bar I told her she did a good job and she said (…in an Eliza Doolittle accent: “I ain’t that good on me Roman numerals so I just made up the Queen and King numbers!”
Too funny!
I ate and drank way too much! The scones were like rock cakes; I was careful not to drop them into the Thames for fear of killing some of the marine life LOL!
Added bonus of going under all the London bridges and checking out the big name attractions from a new angle!
Another great day in bustling London Town! A magnificent 21 degree day! 🇬🇧🧁🥰☀️🥳👑もっと詳しく

Pretty Woman: Big Musical. BIG. huge!

So exciting to be able to go out your front door and turn a corner onto London’s Strand to go to a musical 🎶
The Savoy Theatre 🎭 is basically 5 minutes from my accomodation. In fact, the entire West End is only an extra ten minutes through Covent Garden! It’s a Queen’s paradise (…and, I’m not talking about Lizzie this time! 😜🎟🎼
Great opportunity to put on the glad rags & treat myself…again!
And, last minute half price 3rd Row tickets 🎫😜
The Verdict: initially it was strange to see an all-time favourite and much loved movie break out into song… But, after a few minutes it all seemed perfectly normal… Schmaltzy, humorous and the music really complimented the original storyline. Stand out character was the campy hotel Manager who played about 5 other characters as well! In short, it’s hard to better perfection but they did a good job! 🎉🥰👍🏻
I give it 4 pretty women out of 5
💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
PS: it is so fantastic not having to wear a mask anywhere! You wouldn’t even know Covid ever existed in the UK, or London at least! Notting Hill Market

Early rising today and a short 2 minute walk to Embankment Tube: gotta say I absolutely LOVE the Tube PT system! Never more than 5 minutes wait for next train 🚊 fast, efficient, easy to understand, circular, not just in and out! They also have such clear & concise communication around changes and delays…Metro: take note! Have always loved the tube 🚇❤️❤️❤️
Also loving not having any access to my phone during most of the day! I forgot how liberating it is to just live in the moment and not be distracted by notifications all day. I wish or hope I could do it at home. The ultimate mindful zone. There is Wi-Fi everywhere so if I really need to check directions or anything else I just connect. I was going to get a local Sim card but decided against it after this light weight feeling and freedom entered my heart and soul!
📱🚫✅
Interestingly, while in this zone, I was able to just sit back and watch complete human obsession with their phone. On the train to market I actually heard exclamation from one passenger when she realised the person she was texting was actually 4 seats along! This only happened after both being on same train for 5 stations 🚉😳🤦♂️
Preoccupation with our devices is slowly robbing us of the special interaction in the real world 🌍😢
With a rumbling tummy I excitedly arrived at Portobello Notting Hill markets and instantly spied the Moroccan tea and pastry man! He carefully crushed real mint leaves into his own special blend in such care and consideration! A great refreshing start to the day! 🫖
Portobello Road market is absolutely bloody amazing! There is so much to look at, food and unique stuff! Although, I’m always reminding myself that I don’t need any more stuff! I did pretty well as I only bought a lambs wool scarf for the Melbourne winter I dread returning to 😫
Eating my way up the meandering road filled with sight & smells of delight: Had the crisp, fresh Greek salad 🥗 freshly baked home made flakey sausage roll & relaxed with a Guinness at The Castle Pub - another favourite of mine!
It sprinkled a few drops of rain but not near enough to dampen my spirits! I found the obligatory William Thacker’s Notting Hill bookshop from the movie… Just an FYI, the outside is as you see in the movie but the inside was just a set! Sorry. Not sorry!
Another slight observation: every French tourist I come across or run into are rude, self entitled pricks! They seem to be oblivious to everything around them…only confirming why Paris is never in my Top Ten places to adore! 🤫
PS: Absolutely love ❤️ coming to Markets alone! Never needing to wonder where your companion is or has wandered off to, selfishly lingering longer at anything that interest your fancy and duck and dive at your hearts content 🥰🕺🏼Self indulgence is wonderful 👍🏻もっと詳しく

London: 72 stories up!

This little soirée happened yesterday but I was so overwhelmed and emotional after being a part of the historic party at the Palace that I almost forgot to give credit where credit is due… I was sceptical about paying $60 to haul my arse up yet another observation tower in another town… Kinda like museums & churches ⛪️ after a while you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all… 🤦♂️😜
But, I was pleasantly surprised! Don’t get me wrong; It was indeed a huge moneymaking scam… There were little waiters ‘bouncing’ around asking whether you wanted to buy a $30 cocktail or get your photo taken and made into a book which was $50 downstairs. I resisted both! By the way, obviously I have converted to pounds into dollars and then this happens in my head a lot of the time here - I double it and carefully consider if I really need it…
Anyway it was actually a really amazing and interesting experience to be that high up over London and see the iconic landmarks from a different angle… Although, I remember, five years ago when I was flying back from Greece the plane flew over London and that was probably the most exciting and exhilarating experience I have had. But, as you can see from the photos it was a very pleasurable experience. The area around London Bridge station is interesting as well because the Borough markets are located there. Didn’t have time to look around them this time but I will hopefully before I head back.
Oh, by the way I don’t think I have even told you what this building is called: The Shard!
PS; another couple of sneaky videos of the party at the palace here as well…もっと詳しく

Party 🎉at the Palace 👑

What an absolute honour to be among hundreds of thousands of people, joined together with the common goal of honouring our monarch who has spent 70 years in service to her people! I have never been part of such a well managed, respectable, proud, loving and emotional gathering! It was such a personal emotional and beautiful tribute to Her Majesty! You could feel everybody with open hearts and respect for their Queen 👑
The entire crowd was full of enthusiasm and so happy! Every single person had a British flag and was waving it madly the entire concert. There were different age groups from people in wheelchairs, on walking sticks to babies and families altogether just happily dancing and enjoying the spectacular event. There were showers during the day but it was like someone had ordered perfect still and calm weather just for the two hour concert. As soon as everyone was home there was rain again! Even the heavens were respectful of our Queen ☀️☀️☀️🌈🌈🌈
All ages and all races coming together with one common goal… Almost everybody arrived with a bag full of alcohol and food but not once did anybody need to be kept in check or have their bags checked. The Brits 🇬🇧 certainly know how to party without getting messy when it’s called for! The crowd dispersed respectfully and calmly back out into London.
The crowd went wild for Queen (the band, not the Monarch) who opened the entire concert and other highlights were definitely the theatre tribute, Rod Stewart, Elton and when Charles and William spoke the crowd went wild! When Charles asked everyone to cheer for “Mummy” the roar of the crowd was deafening and wonderful 🥰🎉🇬🇧
The most poignant moment was when the concert opened with Lizzie & Paddington comparing marmalade sandwiches 🥪 Apparently Her Maj kept this under wraps from even the closest family members! It was beautiful 😍
Photos simply can’t do the experience justice and it’s hard to convey just how many people were all through St James’s Park and the Mall leading down to Buckingham Palace. All I can say is that it was a dream come true for me and being a part of history is something I will remember forever!

You are so fortunate to experience this once in a lifetime occasion. Never again will this happen. You will never forget this xxx [Jules]

旅行者I really feel lucky and to be surrounded bye such patriotic, loving and considerate BRITs makes it even more proud and wonderful! Nobody does this sort of stuff like the BRITs! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Highgate Hierarchy: George was ‘ere!

Still buzzing from the emotion-filled Platinum Jubilee concert 🎵 I grabbed the “Ultimate English Brekky Roll” from Charing Cross Station 🚉 Egg 🍳 bacon 🥓 sausage. Not a calorie in it! 😜 I have been walking on average of 20 km a day so I can probably afford to have one or two more!
With need to balance out my Royal obsession for a couple of hours I headed about 20 minutes up the northern line to Highgate. One of the most financially positive areas of London. We saw the houses of Kate Moss, Jamie Oliver and, of course George Michael. George Michael is actually buried in the cemetery here…it was almost “Gaymagedden 2” on discovery of this! (Photo 6)🏡 🕺🏼
You will also notice that there are houses in this village with windows that have been bricked up; that is because they didn’t want to pay the extra tax if they had more than nine windows! The second most expensive street, Bishops Lane, after South Kensington Road in London is in Highgate.
Grumpy Richard hosted this walk… I recognised him from a previous walk on Hamstead Heath (George’s old “stomping ground”) when I was in London last time. He calls him self ‘Richard the third’ because “…there are eight other Richards…” who take tours with the company and he “wanted to stand out..!” We noticed some stone heads on the top of a house and asked Richard what was the significance. He just turned and said no idea! LOL 😝
I love these London Walks. You learn so many hidden secrets and discover lots of “chestnuts”
& “Easter Eggs” about London 🇬🇧👍🏻✅
Love, love, love, love, love London‘s tube system. Are you sure to watch the video at the end if you miss it when you’re away from it as much as I do! 🚊❤️❤️❤️✅✅✅🚉🚉🚉もっと詳しく

旅行者Wow, you are certainly being very energetic you probably could have eaten 3 egg / sausage & bacon rolls.

旅行者I think I am running on pure adrenaline at the moment! I love every second and want to discover new things as Wellers joining every single royal celebration… I am off to the Queens pageant parade right now… I hope you get to see it because I think it’s going to be the big highlight of the whole weekend! 🥰🥰🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👑👑👑😜😜😜

Queens (…VERY GAY) pageant 🌈

I could’ve sworn, if no one had told me otherwise, that I was at the gay Mardi Gras! I have never seen so many sparkle and glitter and sequins, feathers and baubles! 🌈🌈🌈 Even an ABBA float blasting out “Dancing Queen”!
The atmosphere around Trafalgar Square, where I finally found somewhere to stand with a decent view was absolutely electric ⚡️ The crowd went wild for each of the buses which represented a decade in our Queens fantastical reign! Yes, I would have seen more on TV but to be part of the crowd waving my union Jack 🇬🇧 was like something you would only dream about!
It is hard to describe how it feels to be in London and attend every single event and be part of the crowd worshipping our Queen 👑It was magical and I will never forget it for the rest of my life! There are no words, sometimes, for experiences…
I am so thankful that I didn’t have any phone to distract me when I was out amongst the crowd either… It made it even more special to actually live right there, in that moment! I swore that I would get here for this if I could and I can’t believe that I made it happen! It is more than I can ever really imagine! I am going to re-live every moment on the telecasts when I get back home and will pinch myself remembering that I was actually there!
One funny moment today… There were obviously a lot of short people in the crowd who couldn’t see anything so they held their phone up high above their head… One husband said to his wife, what the fuck! You’re gonna look back at that in 70 years time and say why did I take that picture? You just took a picture of the street sweeper sweeping up horse 🐎 shit! Fuck I laughed! Later, she got me to check what she was taking a picture of! I told her, it’s okay this time it was one of the buses! Ha ha 😜😜😜
Something else to note… Every single minority, race, colour, and socio-economic group have nothing but praise, honour, care, excitement and true love, honest reflection and pride in Queen Elizabeth… I cannot even think of anyone who commands such respect from every single group…
Every single television station, every single newspaper, every radio station and every pub, shop, window and balcony had messages of goodwill for the platinum jubilee. It is hard to explain and I can truly say you had to be here… And I was ❤️❤️❤️
If Ed Sheeran tribute doesn’t bring a tear to your eye then you probably should check if you’re human! LOL 🇬🇧❤️👑🥰😘
And then! To top it all off! The Queen made a triumphant appearance on the balcony to the absolute and undisputed love of every single person there for her! ❤️❤️❤️ Truly a historic moment ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

旅行者Fantastic read. If you don't write your book this time I will be really disappointed!!!! I've got tears in my eyes reading this. Words can't explain just how happy for you I am!!!!

旅行者Oh Loredana… wish I could give you a huge hug. You make me so happy. I know you mean what you say and you follow my feelings and emotions. Thanks so much x

You will never, ever forget this trip and it’s been a pleasure following it. How do you come back home and try to explain how magnificent it was ( especially to people who don’t love the monarchy). ? [Jules]

旅行者I know! I don’t need to explain. It’s all inside my heart and soul. Don’t give a flying fuck if anyone doesn’t get it. There are more that do! Like 100s of thousands! We are Not alone!!!!

旅行者I can’t describe the pride I feel. And I know that so many others are just in awe! Nobody works 70 years! And, with such full commitment and honour. If all BBC she can do Fromm now on, is wave and smile from balcony then that’s fine with me! She has earned it! This will NEVER happen EVER! X

Plastic cups from 9pm 😳😜🍹

Yes! Perhaps I should have my gay card revoked but I have put duty to my people & country above my own needs this week… It is only tonight that I’ve decided to let loose and just go with my other (often, less receptive) “people” and have a big gay night out! Oh! What a beautiful night it has been!…
I had some ‘dirty’ chicken at some new supposed high class chicken joint (Wingman’s) in Leicester Square (…it was so salty I had to drink ALL night! …well, at least that’s my story 😳😱🙈😜) and I knew exactly where I was going… Admiral Duncans!
I walked past earlier in the week but I just didn’t feel the vibe to go in… Tonight! I did! And it was worth every minute! Some very very confident and talented drag queen charmed the audience with her many talents (including….wait for it!…actually singing live, not miming… and everybody was, as I remember, friendly and kind to each other! Doesn’t happen that often in the gay community but here, it did! 🌈🌈🌈🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️
Something I forgot to mention earlier: every single Jubilee event was supposed to have rain but there was not one drop… Not one! Tonight, it is raining like a bitch in London but nobody cares because the royal proceedings are over…
You know what? The Royals have to continue with their politically correct life where, us mere mortals, are free to be whoever we choose! Think about that next time you knock their privileged lives! I bet William, Harry, Kate, and in the future George, would give anything to just wander the streets like I have tonight but they never will!
The night is young! My Royal duties are fulfilled. Now, it’s time to satisfy my own needs!
Just for the record: I’m so Proud of Me! Not only did I diligently save the substantial cash
(…diligently $98 a week for past 5 years) 💰 needed to travel 🧭 fully and without restrictions (…on a part time wage, mind you…) but I follow my heart, dreams and sensibilities to achieve it! Go Me! 🤠 👑❤️🇬🇧✊🏻🥰❤️🧡💛💚💙
God!
Save our Queen (and me!) 🥰❤️🇬🇧🎉✊🏻👜👑
😇 God bless my Mum also: sending me a message to “…be safe on the streets…!” That train has LONG past ✊🏻😜🥰❤️😘もっと詳しく

Leisurely London Life & Sotheby’s

With the right Royal 👑 Extravaganza extinguished, the four day lavish long weekend over I decided on a more leisurely ladies day 😜Determined to have a FULL English breakfast 🍳 I went on the hunt down back alleyways and cobbled roads in search of just that. Boy! Did I get it! Eggs 🍳 poached to perfection, crispy bacon 🥓 pork sausages, magicAL mushrooms 🍄 grilled tomatoes 🍅 homemade baked beans 🫘 and black pudding (which I reluctantly tried). Just between you & the grease also helped the indulgence in one too many beverages last night! 😜🥳😵💫😵💫
HOLD THE FARM!
…the Jubilee Continues 👑👑👑
My wanderings bought me to Sothebys in New Bond Street and what a surprise… A Jubilee exhibition of amazing and priceless tiaras! Not only were they exquisite but Diana‘s wedding day Tara was on display. See first video. The second video is of Queen Victoria‘s tiara. I died and went to tiara 👑 heaven 😇😇😇 And! Yes LT: that’s the gayest thing I’ve said all week! 🫣🫣😜😜
There was also an exhibition of history’s strongest female monarchs from Queen Mary to Queen Elizabeth II. Feast your senses on these! What a find! There is also a painting which was done by Winston Churchill… It was fascinating! Most of these artworks were hundreds of thousands of pounds and into the millions! And, even better for us poor people, especially after this holiday, lightning speed free Wi-Fi and very comfy couches in our sumptuously decorated reception area…
At this rate The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations May never end! And, why should they! 🥳🎉👍🏻❤️👑🇬🇧
PS: I forgot to mention the beautiful Balan from Romania… 🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰 As I was strolling along Bond Street where all the high-end retail is, this absolutely gorgeous male model type tempted me to come into the skincare shop and he did a full demonstration of face wash and cream… He was so beautiful and a sparkling personality… I wish I had of got a picture of him but I was mesmerised and starstruck and forgot to! He asked me if I knew Dracula… In a sexy accent, and then told me he was the son of Dracula! He was an absolute Charmer!
Damn!… Yes, I also bought the facecream LOL 😝🫠🤦♂️🔥🥰もっと詳しく

Walk like a Man

Walked all through Mayfair & Regents Park this afternoon. Then sat in the magnificent Regent Park (where London Zoo is) and had lunch deal (sandwich, drink & crisps for £3.95) and devoured the Daily Mirror souvenir special edition of the Jubilee Celebration 🎉
Then… forgot the Tube wasn’t running due to strike…so more walking 🚶🏻♂️ and navigating back home via double decker bus 🚌 which was fun in itself. Always head to top deck. Although, the locals were not finding it one bit fun! The beauty of being a tourist is it doesn’t really matter because you have nowhere to be! Love ❤️ travelling again!
Then… walk to Trafalgar Square Theatre…only 10 minute stroll…how lucky!? This accomodation turned out to be a complete gem 💎
JUST FYI: I’m averaging 20km a day WALKING 🚶🏻♂️
Wow 🤩
Front & Centre! Again! C7 🎼🎸🎹🎤
Can’t believe how fantastic these last minute theatre 🎭 ticket 🎫 sites are! The seats are PREMIUM at half price! Anyone coming to London in the future, let me know and I’ll let you in on the secret 🤫
There are 2 sites and by checking each at same time you can get either better prices or better seats OR both! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎉🎉🎉
Verdict:
Oh! What a night! fantastic show! I didn’t realise that I knew all their songs and the four guys were so talented & amazing… And hot 🔥😜 Love the fashion too: such simple style…

Little Louis: Laughable Larrikins 😜

Cheeky little Louis deserves his own footprint on my journey! He has brought laughter and fun to the masses the world over! It also highlights how hands-on Kate and William are as parents particularly around PDA which Liz not often displayed.
His behaviour also initiated and delighted us to see the softer side to Charles and even our Queen looked smitten and delighted by her naughty 😈 little great grandson! 😉🥸🤗
Little Louis you are fantastic!
The gift that just keeps on giving…

Shocking Shit 💩 Show Stansted! 😳

Up early & did the obligatory panic about whether I’d left any personal belongings in the apartment. Did about 5 laps until I was (almost) satisfied so did one more! Still wondering as I left the keys 🔑 inside…🤦♂️🤔
I’ve discovered that in post Covid travel 🧳 environment you essentially have to spend the best part of a day travelling 🧭 All airlines ask for 3-4 hour leeway. Then there’s the trains 🚆 buses 🚌 transfers & lots of shanks pony🙃Thankfully, I love ❤️ the exploration and organisation aspects and when you’re already on holiday it’s just part of the fun 🤩
And TIP: work out the time you need to get going THEN, add at least, another half hour 👍🏻
Now, to Stansted Airport… 😳😳😳
Remember the little Britain produced show called ‘Come fly with me’? I felt like I was in an episode of that…!
What an absolute shit show it is!
The moment we arrived (from a very efficient Stansted express train 🚊) we were greeted with no lifts or escalators working so 100’s were herded like cattle 🐮🐮🐮🐮through a small opening at the first desk with 3 unhappy people checking tickets 🎫
Schlepping up a steep ramp we were next met with extremely long lines of people trying to check-in… Now, if you’ve seen ‘Come fly with me’ then this is clearly got the blueprint of the rude, arrogant & complacent characters directly from! The girls at the check-in desk could not give a rats arse about making things easier and pleasant…forget it! 🫣😳🙄 I wonder if, like the chicken and the egg theory is Stansted the same: which came first? Were the staff already nonchalant and rude or did this happen because of the reputation? I realise that this airport houses budget airlines but does that mean you should treat customers like peasants!? 🤷🏻♂️ Staff clearly missed the memo 📝 pasted up at every gate! 😱
The waiting area is surrounded by fast food outlets crammed with people and the middle seating area felt like there was a game of musical chairs going on: People standing to the sides waiting to see a vacant seat and then rushing to grab it! Or, alternatively, deciding to just sit anywhere on the floor… There were people feeding babies, eating lunch and generally just mooching around in a space that is clearly not air-conditioned! I sound like the wicked witch from the west… Melting! 🥵🥵
This is my first negative angled post but I just could not let it go by without providing a special mention of the complete and utter bedlam that Stansted is! (Sorry, not sorry!)
Now! RyanAir…the rumours are indeed true! At the boarding gate the “hostess” yells at the top of her lungs, like a fisherman’s wife, to indicate
“…ya need ya boarding pass out..if youse wanna board..!”
Approaching the stairs to board and I’d really seen it all! The pilot 👩✈️ hanging out the front window of the plane, cleaning the windshield!?
Once on RyanAir, on one positive note, the air conditioning kicked in! Phew 😮💨 But we were held up on tarmac for over an hour…perhaps the pilot 👨✈️ needed to pump up the tyres too!🫣💁🏻♂️
Essentially, RyanAir, once in the air, was great 👍🏻 Rose wine 🍷 snickers and bag o chips and all was forgiven….
Cannot wait to arrive in Italy where I will be heading straight to my hotel to wash the stench of Stansted off me… 🚿 🧼 🤣🤣🤣
“Buckle up bitches! You’re in for a bumpy ride..!”

Benevento Italy 🇮🇹

Took 12 hours to get here, but, oh my god…it is worth it! Arrived sweaty and slightly overwhelmed as I hadn’t had wi-fi for 9 hours & navigation of bus-train combo. Just took a guess at where Hotel 🏨 Miro was, knowing it was on seafront, as I requested a room overlooking the sea! They delivered….in spades ♠️ as expected the host was absolutely lovely and so helpful. She gave me tips on places to eat & explained how to walk to particular hotspots such as Portofino (inspiration for Disney/Pixar’s ‘Luca”
It’s 11.30pm and I’m comfortably wearing shorts & t-shirt! 🥰
The rain is seafront as I asked for and it is typically Italian in style and decoration… It is really comfortable and has that the spoke Italian feel about it!
After I freshened up, powdered my nose and did the big 3 S’s I was good to go eat…
9pm but I was rewarded for my efforts! I had the most delicious seafood (fruits of the sea 🌊) spaghetti 🍝
Rapallo is right on the waterfront and the seafood in the dish came just out of the boat 50 metres from the restaurant… Honestly, it was so delicious 🤤 It was served with complimentary breads and breadsticks. I ordered half a litre of wine and some sparkling water…Bellissimo! 🇮🇹
Unfortunately, just got a message from Richard who, it seems, is not meant to meet me… There is an air traffic controller strike tomorrow in Genoa and his flight was cancelled! Poor guy! I’m so disappointed because I was really looking forward to sharing this Italian Riviera experience with him… Hope he is okay and coping… It is such a long flight from Australia and to get bad news on arrival is devastating!
Hugs 🤗 from the start of the Italian Riviera leg of my trip.
Ciao baby 🏖🇮🇹🥰🦞もっと詳しく
