    Lao Cai

We are now in Lao Cai, our final destination in Sapa.

Lao Cai is a city in the Northwest region of Vietnam. It lies at the junction of the Red River and the Nanxi River approximately 160 miles northwest of Hanoi.

We can see China from here but cannot visit as we do not have an entry visa.

We had a few hours to wait here before our train departs. It is very hot and the city is not that pleasant, well at least the city centre anyway. So we booked a hotel room for a few hours. The hotel, Hoang Long, is certainly not a home away from home, glad we are not staying the night. Oops just starting to scratch, hope the room does not have fleas.

We will be leaving here soon and going to dinner before we go to the train station to catch the rattler back to Hanoi.
