    Camperdown Castle

    Camperdown Castle we are home.

    Thanks Michael for looking after the plants and collecting the mail.

    We have unpacked and even put a load of washing in the machine.

    Grocery delivery later this afternoon so we will have food.

    Now to start planning the next holiday.

    Stopover

    We are now in Bangkok for a few hours. Our bags could not be checked all the way home. So we had to collect our bags go through customs. Check in plus our bags go through security and customs again.

    Just as well we have a few hours here in the lounge.

    Homeward Bound

    Well today is the day we leave Cambodia we have had a wonderful time and seen so much.

    Sorry about all the millions of post but I am sure you have enjoyed, or maybe not, joining us on our adventure around Vietnam and Cambodia.

    We know this hotel is a little out of the city but the buffalo on the road near our hotel reminds how even a bigger city can still be in the country.

    Resting for the remainder of the day, it started to rain just as we got home but now stopped so time for a swim.

    Banteay SreyTemple

    Banteay Srei is a 10th century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

    The temple displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer Art. The walls are densely covered with some of the most beautiful, deep and intricate carvings the red sandstone temple is the jewel of Angkorian art.

    The temple was quite small but is was very busy compared to the others today so very hard to get photos.

    Ta Som Temple

    The Khmer temple of Ta Som, located at the eastern end of the Northern Baray at Angkor, was built at the end of the twelfth century during the reign of the powerful Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. Little is known of the history and purpose of Ta Som.

    We were the first into this temple today altough there were people right behind us.

    This temple was quite small and has trees growing over the walls which makes it look interesting.

    Preah Khan Temple

    The Preah Khan temple located just outside the capital city Angkor Thom was built in 1191. The name translates to “the Sacred Sword”.

    The temple was built by Jayavarman VII, a Buddhist King who liberated Angkor by driving out the occupying forces of the Cham.

    The temple had so many photo opportunities it was hard decide where to take a photo. We had some help from one of the guards for some of the photos.Read more

    Sunrise at Angkor Wat

    Yes, the title is correct we actually saw the sunrise this morning over Angkor Wat and this was also on the Bucket List

    We were the first though the gates at 5:00am and by 5:30am more and more people had arrived. I am glad we did this in the off season it would have been horrible with heaps of people.

    We stood of the edge of the pond so we could get the reflection of Angkor Wat on the water.

    Eat, Drink and be Lazy

    The last 2 days have been all about doing nothing.

    We have been into Pub Street and have had dinner along with 50c beers and $2 cocktails and lazing around the hotel.

    Tomorrow will start with a 4.30am pick up for a full day.
