Vat Phou

Da es gestern nicht mehr geklappt hat, bin ich heute zum Vat Phou gefahren, einer Tempelruine aus dem 11.-13. Jahrhundert, die seit 2001 UNESCO Weltkulturerbe ist. Aber vorher hatte ich erneut einen Platten.🙄

Die Einwohner waren ganz lieb: sobald sie gemerkt haben, dass ich aufgrund eines Platten den Roller schiebe, haben sie mir den Weg zu einer Werkstatt gewiesen. Dort war ein älterer Herr, der sich meinem Fahrzeug angenommen hat. Anders als der junge Mann gestern, hat er aber den Schlauch untersucht, ein Loch gefunden, diesen geflickt und anschließend mit einer Skat-Karte nach spitzen Gegenständen im Reifen gesucht. Und siehe da, da steckte eine Nadel drin, die den neuen Schlauch wieder beschädigt hat. Preis des ganzen: umgerechnet ca. 50 ct. Der Schlauchwechsel gestern hat mich das 6 fache gekostet.

Den Tempel habe ich in der Mittagssonne nur halb genießen können. Man sagt, Vat Phou ist ähnlich Ankor Wat in Kambodscha, nur in viel viel kleiner.

Auf dem Rückweg wurde ich mit dem Boot über den Mekong gesetzt. Verrückt, was die Laoten alles in so einem kleinen Boot transportieren.😁 Grund für den Seitenwechsel war ein local Market, den ich noch besuchen wollte. Hier wurden meine Erfahrungen der üblichen Märkte nochmal übertroffen: man konnte lebende Schlangen kaufen, Schildkröten, aber auch tote Warane oder Ratten.🥴 die essen halt alles, die Laoten, aber die Natur findet das gar nicht so gut, denn die Wälder sind bereits leer gejagt.

Mit dem heutigen Tag waren meine 6 Tage Urlaub auch schon vorbei und es ging am Abend zurück nach Vientiane, um dann morgen zurück nach Hause zu fliegen.

Since it didn't reached yesterday, I went to Vat Phou today, a temple ruin from the 11th-13th centuries, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. But before that I had another flat tire.🙄

The residents were very nice: as soon as they noticed that I was pushing the scooter because of a flat tire, they showed me the way to a garage. There was an elderly gentleman who took care of my vehicle. Unlike the young man yesterday, however, he examined the inner tube, found a hole, patched it and then looked for sharp objects in the tire with a skat card. Lo and behold, there was a needle stuck in there that damaged the new tube again. Price of the whole: about 50 ct. Changing the tube yesterday cost me 6 times more.

I was only able to enjoy half of the temple in the midday sun. It is said that Vat Phou is similar to Ankor Wat in Cambodia, only much, much smaller.

On the way back I was taken across the Mekong by boat. Crazy what the Laotians transport in such a small boat. The reason for the change of side was a local market that I wanted to visit. Here my experiences of the usual markets were surpassed again: you could buy live snakes, turtles, but also dead monitor lizards or rats.🥴 They eat everything, the Laotians, but nature doesn't like it that much because the forests are already empty hunted.

As of today, my 6 days of vacation were already over, I went back to Vientiane in the evening to fly back home tomorrow.Read more
