    On the road.... Day 1

    December 27, 2023 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 7 °C

Alec and Kendra left at 9, and Uncle Greg and Lea left at 10 for Brampton. Picked up the trailer and on the road at 11:45 😊 Rain😀 and rain.

Aspen is excited and asking when we will be there. Ares is excited too and says we have 46 hours, 35 minutes to go.

40 minutes or so through security at the border... Alec had to go in. All good and back on the road. Stop just past Buffalo, still closed. Rain all the way so far. Ares is napping at the moment.😀

Stopped for the night in Washington, PA. Did some shopping at Walmart and down for the night. Kids were happy with their beds and slept well.

On the road - Day 2

    December 28, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Left Washington, PA at 9. Not raining 😊 Gassed up in West Virginia just before the East River Mountain Tunnel through the mountain and into State of Virginia.

Kendra was at the wheel all day and did a fabulous job. Quite busy pretty much most of the day. Stopped at a Love's Truck stop in Charlotte, SC.

Ares was very happy with his shower and his McDonald's McNugget character. Aspen loved the shower and her Happy Meal Box with Pokémon.

They have both been absolutely wonderful 😊 ❤️

Late night for all .... not much sleep for us adults. Nana and dad both have sore throats (thanks to Aspen).

On the road - Day 3

    December 29, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

Up early and on the road by 8. Sunny and nice. We hope to be in Kissimmee in about 6 hours, but the highway is busy.

10:15 we have arrived in Georgia. Break stop at noon, and it is quite chilly and super windy. Thank goodness Alec is driving!! Got a stone chip in the windshield a bit before we stopped.

The highway has been busy all the way.... our 3 hours to destination has morphed into over 5 due to stop and go.

In Orlando at 4:25... rush hour!! We are going to visit Lisa and Steve and family before they go on a Norwegian cruise, and we head to Disney World. Longest 6 hours ever (took over 9) 😁

Arrived just after 5 ... Marriott Village. We are staying here for tonight...$35. to park . Kids immediately headed to the playground, Lisa "forced" Nana to take a wonderful shower in their room, and they all went and got dinner.

Alec, Kendra, and Nana went to an Italian restaurant just down the street...wonderful to have a real meal and not truck stop food.

Kids got showered and were happy with Nanny and Steve. Ares read us a story, and another late night was had.

    Day 4.... Tropical Palms Resort

    December 30, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 44 °C

We all had a good sleep and didn't get up until after 8. Lisa, Steve, and family left at 10, and we left the hotel around noon and headed to an outlet mall.

Alec now has the cold (thanks, Aspen for sharing 🤧). Nana's voice is still gone, but she doesn't feel bad, Alec is drugging up.

Tanger Outlet Mall... Nana, Daddy, Aspen, and Kendra all got shoes. Water bottles and clothes for daddy and Aspen. We ate at Shake Shack.

Walmart for groceries and t-shirts. Saw 2 Sandhill cranes, just wandering the parking lot. Crazy busy!!! 🤪🤪

Ares says LIKE THE DEAD MAN
ARES SAYS I SEE THE DEAD MAN 🧟‍♂️->MAN VIPPPPPPPPP ZOO.

    Now off to the campground!!!

Nice big campground. Lokie, kids and Nana did a nice couple of walks. We saw Muskovy ducks and a number of deer in the woods.

    Ares and Aspen called Mommy.

Day 5... Disney World - Hollywood

    December 31, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

We are at the Disney World Hollywood Park. It is very busy as expected. We went into the Echo Lake park to see the Indiana Jones Exhibit and ride but had very long lineups.

We then headed to the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, where we walked around and saw lots of cool Star Wars things. We waited for almost 2 hours to do the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride. It was fun... Alec and Aspen were pilots, Ares, and Kendra Gunners, and Nana was an engineer.

Next on Grand Avenue was the Muppet Vision 3D show, which was fun. We walked around a bit more and had lunch there around 1. Back to the trailer to let Lokie out (quite the walk to get her to grass!). We had a snack, got jackets and water, and went back to the park for the Frozen show.

Back to Echo Lake for the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing Along Celebration. The show was great, of course, and Aspen was very happy. We all enjoyed it, and they were pretty excited when it started snowing on us. Lots of adult humour, too.

The next stop was the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Unfortunately, another almost 2 hour wait, but Ares talked about it all day... couldn't disappoint him.
It was really fun. We all enjoyed it, and Ares said it wasn't scary (though he said he almost threw up when we bounced off the seat).

Ares, Aspen and I took the tram back around 8:30. Everyone was very tired and had sore feet. Both were in bed and asleep shortly after 9.

Ares' favorite thing today was the Tower of Terror and Aspen's was the Frozen show.... no surprise. She bought a souvenir with the characters in a plastic case. Ares got his very Dark Saber from the Mandalorian Show.

Daddy and Kendra stayed late for the Fantasia Show, which they said was fabulous.

Good day, though a bit chilly.... cold at night.

    Day 6 - Disney World-Epcot

    January 1 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Everybody was pretty tired, and we slept late. So far, the weather is gorgeous and warm in the park.

Nana did not come with us today. Ares, Aspen, Kendra, and Daddy did the Spaceship Earth, which went through the dome... we had interactive computer screens as we went through the some.... you choose to build your future. At the end the time machine shows your future.

Walked around and got to play 5 different interactive games. Ares loved it!

Then, the kids had hot dogs and chips for lunch and a Mickey Mouse and Minniee ice cream bars.

Then we rushed to Norway to see Anna and Elsa in Frozen land. First met Anna and then Elsa. Aspen was super thrilled!!! Ares told Elsa all about Toilet Tower Defense.

Stood in line for the Frozen Ever After ride (a long line). Daddy went to a Norway Bakery and got to school breads (dense sweet dough with pudding, whipped cream and almond shavings) and sugar and butter roll ups, which Aspen did not like. And a big huge chocolate chip cookie 🍪

We walked around to the different country exhibits and stopped at Japan and then headed back because everyone was tired.

Nana decided not to do Epcot because her leg was very sore and is saving it for the Magic Kingdom.

So Nana stayed with Lokie and cleaned up the trailer, aired out the blankets (Lokie hair), did 2 loads of laundry, took an awesome shower, and enjoyed the warm Florida weather while waiting for clothes to dry.😎

Alec rented a golf cart, thank goodness, to carry the laundry. Nana enjoyed driving around the resort. Found 3 alligators and a baby snake.

Kids got back around 5:30, and we went to check on the alligators. We did see a couple, though, barely as it was quite dark.

Alec, Ares, and Aspen went swimming. The water was quite warm, the air not so much! Ares is swimming very well and can even float on his back for a long time!

Supper, Zootopia movie, then bed (too late again).

Alec and Kendra went out for supper to an Italian family style restaurant. The portions were huge... lots of leftovers.

    Day 7 - Magic Kingdom!

    January 2 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Off to the Magic Kingdom. As usual, it's extremely busy. We took the ferry across the lake to the Magic Kingdom entrance and headed directly to Frontierland as it was so busy.

We got to ride the Walt Disney World Railroad over, and there were not many people there, which was wonderful. We had a raft ride over to Tom Sawyer Island and the kids went through the rifle houses, shot lots of trees and leaves (daddy was showing how to use a rifle), and then we walked around. We got to see part of the parade from across the river. Then we went through some really cool, dark caves. On our way back, the kids had lunch at Pecos Bills Cafe... Nana had some awesome churros and chocolate sauce.

We headed to Adventureland next and the Enchanted Tiki Room show. It was tropical birds and flowers talking and dancing... cute show and a nice sit-down break.

Off to Fantasyland next where we happened to be just in time for a show... we were a ways back but got to see pretty good and heard the wonderful music. We toured around the beautiful castle and checked it out. We then went to the Fantasy Faire shop so Aspen could get her Belle costume, scepter, crown, and jewelry. Kendra got some earrings, too.

We rode the Prince Charming Regal Carousel while Daddy went and got a scooter. Our next stop was the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (where we used the Lightening Pass). It was a really good ride (again😉). Ares got sprayed with water, but it missed Nana...lol.

The next ride was the Haunted Mansion coaster in Liberty Square. Ares rode with Nana so she wouldn't get too scared. It was really fun and not too scary.

Then it was time to walk to the monorail, take a ride back to the transport station, and walk to the trailer. We let Lokie out for a bit, all changed shoes, and put on warmer clothes to go back to the park.

It was definitely colder when we went back. The castle is beautiful when all lit up at night. Our first stop was back at the castle where it was very crowded and almost time for a show. We didn't stay because we had dinner reservations.

Dinner was at the Diamond Horseshoe Fine Dining Restaurant. The "saloon" was very nice but we had to rush to see the fireworks.

We saw the awesome fireworks display, though not together. It was horribly crowded... Daddy, Ares, and Nana got pretty banged up where we were 😢

Our last Disney ride was at Tomorrowland and the Tomorrowland Speedway. Ares drove Nana (he was not happy with how slow Nana was, so had his foot on hers (didn't help..lol). Aspen and Daddy rode and poor Kendra got stuck behind us.

Aspen's favorite was the real ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. And Ares loved Pirates of the Caribbean and getting sprayed.

We all had fun, but it was time to go. Everyone was very, very tired. It took a long, long time to get on the monorail (we could have walked it it there wasn't a lake 😁).

    Tomorrow we start home.

    Day 8 - Heading home

    January 4 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ -9 °C

Everyone showered, got things battened down, Aspen threw up, we cleaned up, and then headed out to go home.

First stop was Shades of Green, a military Disney store at the Disney Golf Course. The prices were a bit cheaper and we did get a few last-minute souvenirs.

Next stop was in Daytona Beach at a Buc-ees Gas Station. Wow! It has a massive store with everything from fresh food, beef jerkey and many kinds of meats, candy, clothes, and decorative stuff. Super busy. Alec and Kendra loved it. We were there for a long time. Poor Aspen was not feeling good, so Nana and Aspen got some candy, coloring book, and crayons and went back. Nana got pecans, salt water taffy and chocolate drink for Papa.

We basically just drove after that and only stopped for gas and pee breaks. Kendra drove till 9ish to TA truck stop in Florence, South Carolina.

All to bed by 10:30.... tired.

Day 9 - Still heading home

    January 4 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 8 °C

On the road just after 9, then stopped for coffee and breakfast at Biscuitville. Nana got a full, awesome breakfast with grits. The kids had a biscuit sandwich, and we have blueberry muffins to look forward to later (they were awesome).

Kendra drove lots in the mountains where there were lots of High Wind warnings. Nana can't drive because the seat will not go up and can't see over the steering wheel 😢

Alec took over in West Virginia before the last tunnel. Stopped for Lokie... it's cold 🥶

Stopped in the same spot where Papa and Nana stayed in 2018 and woke to a snowstorm!

Back on the road at 7 pm. Stopped at a Loves in Slippery Creek for the night.

Ares is now sick with a cough... doesn't feel too bad. Nana and Daddy both have coughs now too 😞
