Bondi to Austinmer

Left Bondi and drove to Otford lookout and cooked beef satay with rice just before it got dark.
Got petrol so then drove on to Austinmer and stayed for the night.
Woke, had breakfast and went for a surf. There had been a tiger shark caught the day before as a dead whale washed up on Wollongong beach.
Men stopped to look at our van and gave us advice on where to go.Lue lisää

Austinmer to Kiama

Before we left Austinmer we got some drone shots.
We had lunch at Bulli Beach and reorganised the van 🙃 again......
We drove to Kiama. There was a really nice market on which we walked around. We drove to Kiama blowhole, it was cool. We cooked egg fried rice with prawns for dinner. Was delish.
As we were going asleep Jake laughed and said imagine "imagine if I farted in here" and we laughed about how unfair it would be. Then next thing one just and I quote "slipped out and there was nothing i could do" it was so so so bad. I started to choke. I jumped and ran out of the van while Jake continued to lie there so i shouted at him to get outtt of the van as the smell was lingering on him 🤢I opened all the doors to try air it out. I warned him to not come back until he had stopped. He done a few farts outside and then came back. He was lucky!Lue lisää

Kiama to Jervis Bay

We left Kiama and on route to Jervis Bay we stopped at the seven mile beach. We walked it and found some really nice shells. We ran the way back and I ran/walked 5k! We had our first outdoor shower and Jake had his fully naked 😅. We drove on to Jervis Bay. We went to Cave Beach in Jervis Bay and saw so many wild kangaroos and even babys in pouches. It was amazing to see. We drove back into the town on Vincentia and stayed in a car park at a coles as there was so many restrictions as to where you could stay all around the area.Lue lisää

Jervis Bay to Batemans Bay

We left Jervis Bay and drove to Batemans Bay. On the drive to it there was so much greenery it looked like Ireland. Loads of farms had like little ponds made to gather rain water and use the water for sprinklers.
The weather was bad when we got there. So we had yoghurt/banana for lunch. Then for dinner as it was too windy and wet we got a pizza.

Batemans Bay to Dalmeny

We woke up and made rasher sandwiches for breakfast. Jake decided to get some drone fottage around Corrigans Beach before we left. The battery started to say it was low so the drone was returning back to us which was grand but then it started to go back up higher. We had no idea why and started to panic a bit. Jake started running out towards the edge of the sea and tried to get back in control of the controls as we were afraid it would land in the sea. The battery completely went and we had so idea where it had gone. We didn't know if it was in the sea, on the sand or in the bush area which was above the water. Jake had just started running like a nd man and people were looking at us prob wondering what on earth is going on 😅 It was a nightmare. We searched all the bottom of one side and then Jake went above and we went all along one side together. I went back to the van and drove it around to where Jake was. Then we started to search the other side. We watched a video on YouTube to try find it then and realised there is a thing you can click call find my drone. We done it and it seemed to suggest the drone was the other side of the beach where we hadn't checked yet. It also said it could make the drone beep so when we were near we tried it but the battery was so dead so it didn't work. The Jake went below and I kept watching the map and we found it in the rocks!!!! After over 2 hours searching we were so so relieved.
We left Corrigans Beach so greatful that we had found it. I don't think we could have left without it tbh! We drove further down the coast and seen loads of nice beaches on the way. We arrived at Dalmeny. Jake went for a surf and after we found warm showers!!!! They were amazing and so nice as the weather was coldish and v windy. We had a really good sleep, especially JB knowing his baby was back in his arms. Not me his drone 🙃Lue lisää

Dalmeny to Eden

We had a really good sleep in Dalmeny. We were in camping area kind of but it was free. So it was a quite area and cars were not passing or anything.
We looked up what we should do in the area. We drove to the Australia Rock. When we got there we noticed people looking out to sea and we could see 50-60 whales thrashing and breaching. It was crazy!!! So we rang boat companies in the area and managed to book in with a tour for 12.30.
We made sandwiches and ate them and by the time we cleaned up etc we went down to the harbour and waited for the boat. At the harbour we saw a huge Manta Ray. We missed getting a photo of it as it was so unexpected to see!
We got on the boat and we were surrounded by 20-30 humpback whales breaching and thrashing. It was incredible!! When they opened their mouths it smelt so so so bad you could smell it in the air it smelt like sewerage mixed with public toilets. The boat was so rocky which was scary at times but we couldn't stop laughing on it too. One whale thrashed it's tail for the whole time we were there and he was upside down 😅 after about an hour and a half watching them we went out to an island. We would have been happy to stay with the whales but it was part of the tour. We saw Australian and NewZeland sea lions. They were cool to see too.
After the tour we drove to Eden and cooked our dinner when we got there too.
It was the most incredible day. We didn't think we would get to see so many, we were so so lucky. 🐳Lue lisää

Eden to Jervis Bay

We woke up in Eden and drove to Aslings beach to cook our breakfast. After we cleaned up Jake went for a surf and I videoed him on the drone and I got some cool shots of Jake considering I amnt great at it. Then we went to the whaling museum which was good and we read up about a local killer whale called Tom from the Eden area and there was quite a few mad stories.
We drove back up to Batemans Bay and cooked our dinner and then we drove back up to Jervis Bay to stay there for the night to save us driving in the morning.Lue lisää

Jervis Bay to Kiama

We parked in a car park at Jervis Bay (quite hard to park all around this area as there are a good few rules).
We went to Sailors Grave Beach and done our workout there. It was very hard for me! And even Jake thought it was tough.
Then we went to Hyams Beach. I think it is my favourite in all of Australia so far. It is ment to have the whitest sand and it really didn't disappoint. The water was s clear too.
We were swimming in the sea when I noticed something move in the water a good bit behind Jake. We jumped out and set up the drone and Jake got some really amazing shots of a pod of 16 dolphins! It was so so cool.
Then we drove to Honeymoon Bay and it was nice too. We then set off to drive to Kiama for the night and stopped off at Gerringong to cook our dinner.
Blow holes must set off Jakes arse too as he farted again tonight and nearly finished me off. He was kicked out until he was ready to come back in.Lue lisää

Kiama to Sydney

We woke at Kiama. The wind was quite crazy! So we didn't cook breakfast there.
We drove down to the beach and done our stretches and a small bit of exercise. We took the yoga mats and roller out of the roof and put other things back up there like the fan.
We drove to the other side of the beach to cook breakfast as it was less windy. When we were there we cleaned out the van and reorganised it a bit and cleaned fridge etc.
Then we drove to Fitzroy falls. Jake was gonna get a shot with the drone but it ended up being too windy. We set back on the road to Sydney. I rang Prince Alfred Park pool and booked us in to use the shower there. We felt like new people after it.
We then drove to Bondi and decided to get food out as it was late. We got a johnny gios pizza and ogallo chips. We drove on the the MacQuarie lighthouse and parked there for the night. It was quite warm so we had all the windows open.Lue lisää

Bondi to Palm Beach

We didn't have a great sleep as it was noisey and such heavy rain. We woke before 6 so Jake watched the man-u match and some UFC. Mam and Dad called me. We couldn't get up as we were waiting for the rain to stop. We then drove to Bondi as I was bursting for a wee. Jake went for a surf. The surf board Jake is hoping to sell today fell and cracked which is not ideal. The guy said he might still pay $30 for it.
After we went to camp cove where it was roasting. Then We drove to Palm Beach on route we stopped to cook lunch/dinner. We had Hoki fish which was actually not that nice it was v fishy. We managed to mask it with loads of veg and sauce though but it did repeat on his later that eve 🤢
We arrived at Palm Beach and walked all around and up to the lighthouse. It was so cool seeing all where Home and Away is filmed. It's also such a nice area too.Lue lisää

Palm Beach

We woke up in Palm Beach. We drove to Hitchcock Park and done our run. Which was tough as it was starting to get quite hot. After we done our stretches too.
Then we drove to Newport Beach. Jake went for a surf. I had an ice cold shower but needed to sort my hair. I read my book and organised the van.
Then when Jake was done we drove back to Palm Beach.
We cooked lunch and then just sat on the grass there for the day. It was so relaxing and nice. I walked all down the other beach too and I saw all where Home and Away is filmed which was very cool.
We cooked prawns and pasta for dinner which was nice. After we cleaned up Jake got some fottage on the drone. Then we read our books on a bench by the sea and went back to the van when it got dark.Lue lisää

Palm Beach to Avoca Beach

We woke up and drove to a rugby pitch we done a Joe Wicks at workout and our stretches.
Dad, Mam and Niamh called us. We then cooked breakfast and we took some items that we don't use everyday and put them away so they don't take up space in areas that we always need to get at.
We set off but the traffic was so bad so we decided to just pull in at the nearest park and we had lunch rather than sitting in traffic as it was very warm.
After about an hour we set off again and drove to Above Beach. It was so busy as it's a bank holiday too. We managed to get parking and we pulled in and cooked the dinner. We relaxed there for the evening and drove to the other end of the beach to sleep.Lue lisää

Avoca beach to Terrigal

We woke at avoca beach. It's so busy as it's a bank holiday. Jake went for a surf and Mam and Dad called me.
We got parking right on the promenade so we watched surfers for a while too.
We then drove to Kilcare beach for the day. We swam the waves were so big and seemingly there was some sharks stuck in a rock pool down from us so we walked down. They must have got free as they weren't there.
We had our showers in the showers you rinse off at the sea and drove to Terrigal for the night.Lue lisää

Terrigal to Norah Head

We woke at Terrigal and drove around to the main beach. We had a banana and watched surfers and people going by and read our books.
Then we drove to shelley beach and cooked our breakfast. It was really busy. We went down to the sand then and stayed there for about 2 hours. It was so so warm that was all we could handle. It was 30 degrees. We went back to the van and we found showers in the bathrooms so we had our showers. Then we drove to Norah Head and bought bits for dinner and cooked dinner at the lighthouse. Jake got some cool pictures and videos of the lighthouse with the drone too.
You weren't allowed to stay overnight at the lighthouse so we parked just down from it for the night.Lue lisää

Norah Head

We woke up at the lighthouse. The wind was so crazy last night it kept us awake for a bit of the night. It was really dull when we woke up and drizzling rain a bit.
We drove to a park and done our run for the day. It was tough but it wasn't warm so we both felt great after it.
We then drove to Canton Beach to cook breakfast. We had rashers and eggs.
Then we found an aquatic centre near by so we went to that for a while and got showers.
After we relaxed in the van outside. Across from where we parked a guy was going crazy and all his family were trying to calm him down so it was a bit of entertainment. Jake finished his CV and sent it off to a guy he was in contact with in Ireland.
Then we drove to Swansea and got a domoinos pizza for dinner. The got Jakes order wrong 3 times!
Then we drove to 9 mile beach and parked there for the night.Lue lisää

Norah Head to Newcastle

We woke at the 9 mile beach and had a slow lazy morning as the weather wasn't that nice again.
We had a yoghurt and drove to caves beach.
Jake went for a surf and I tidied the van and done my eyebrows.
The waves ended up being a bit too rough so we didn't spend that long there.
Then we drove to Coles and got bits for lunch and drove back to 9 mile beach to cook it.
We drove to Newcastle and watched the surfers for a while. We seen online that there was warm showers but they were closed on a Wednesday. Jake had a look around though and it's the pool that's closed so we could still get in at the showers.
We done our stretching and a small workout and then had our showers which were warm 🤙
After Jake had a go on the drone I read a bit. Then we decided to get some Thai food. We ate it at the harbour area and watched 2 episodes of rachet on Netflix.
We then went for a drive around to see the area and had a McDonald's ice cream.Lue lisää

Norah Head to Nelsons Bay

We woke at Norah Head. It was quite a loud area so it took a while to get asleep.
We woke up drove to a bathroom and then drove back to do our stretches and a short joe wicks workout.
We had a yoghurt and Banana after and drove to a laundrette and sent in all our dirty clothes, all the bed clothes and our 2 towels. It came to $30 which wasn't bad as there was a good bit there.
Then we drove to Nobbys beach where Jake went for a surf but the waves weren't that good so he didn't go for long. Then we cooked dinner we had beef satay. It was very warm while cooking.
We drove down to the ocean baths were and we were gonna go for a swim and then get a shower but everywhere was very busy with kids as they are on holidays until 12 October.

Nelsons Bay

We woke at Nelsons Bay and went to the beach and drove around for the day.
We drove to soilders point and got a nice time lapse of the sun. This area is ment to be so popular for Koalas but loads are gone because of the fires 😞Lue lisää

Nelson Bay to Hunter Valley

We woke just before 6 and drove down to Zenith beach to catch the sunrise.
We met a man who knew loads about the sky and planets etc and told us that we were the closest we would be to Mars for 35 years.
We went to Box Beach for the day. It was so nice and really quite.
We went back up to the van to cook lunch and then went back down for most of the evening. Jake surfed but the waves were not great and I read.
Then we drove to Hunter Valley and Jake thought he found a campsite that was free but it ended up being $25 a night. It was cheaper than loads others so we stayed for the night. It really reminded us of Cledus off the Simpson's. The other people that were there seemed to live there full time which was mad. As we had a plug we were able to use the fan for the night which was great, even the noise of it was comforting.Lue lisää

Hunter Valley (hot air balloon)

We woke at 4.30am and drove to Petersons House which is where we had to meet for the hot air balloon.
It was pitch dark.
We took a 10 minute bus ride to a big open field where there was 5 hot air balloons. We were all in different groups and there was 21 people on our basket. Two baskets had to hold 5 people each for Jake volunteered for us to go in it. I could have killed him at the time as I was so nervous but it ended up being ok as we had good views and no one in our way for pictures.
It was so so cool. The sun rise was so nice too. It was a bit cold but the heat from the blower kept us warm. The balloon would randomly go down and we thought we were landing but it was so it could gather cold air in it too go up higher again.
It was such good fun. For the landing you have to get into a certain position and it kind of hops along and then the captain pulls a rope so it dosent flip over.
After we went into a big room that was like for a wedding and had champagne, tea, orange juice and a really nice fry.
We then left there and we went to Coles before we went back to the campsite to get bits for lunch. We got back to the campsite, had our showers and got changed for the wine tasting. We walked out to the end of the road and got collected by a guy called Tyler.
He dropped us to the first tasting which was good. We bought a bottle of sparkling cider which was really nice. Then we got collected and went to the next one. This was really nice family owned winery. They had a goat called Kevin and they had a pet sheep that lived to the age of 20 called Sheila. We bought a wine there which was nice and refreshing too. Then we were dropped to the distillery that was fun and Jake tried some really hot chilli vodka.
Tyler was then 1 hour 15 mins late collecting us 😅 he said there was traffic but we were in the middle of nowhere and could smell McDonald's in his car!
We asked him did he know anywhere nice to eat and he advised his to go to Potters brewery because they had nice food. He said it was only about a 20 min walk to our campsite. We said bye and he asked us to give him a review on trip advisor.
We had our food then we searched Google maps and it was a 50 minute walk to out campsite!!!!! We were gonna kill Tyler 😅 we couldn't get a taxi either as we were in the middle of no where. After ages we eventually got one.Lue lisää

Cessknock to Blueys Beach

We woke up at the campsite and our neighbours were still fighting 😅
We had our showers, breakfast and packed all the bits back up on to the roof. We stopped off in a coles on the way and bought fish etc for dinner and we cooked it at lunch time. The tax people rang me as the money I was owed hadn't gone into my account as there was something wrong with one of the digits in my account number. So it was lucky that was corrected. Then Jake rang about his as we were open they might not realise that his has already been released and they might give him next year's but they realised and it won't be released. It was worth a try!
After we cooked lunch and made the calls we drove to Blueys Beach. Jake went for a surf and I read my book for a bit and watched him.
We drove to sunset lake and watched an episode of ratched and took pics of the sunset.Lue lisää

Forster to Port Macquarie

We woke at forster. A man was shouting in that we will get a parking ticket. So we got up and moved down the road.
We went to a oval and done a run which was tough.
Then we drove to Port macquarie.
We cooked dinner a bit early and went on the playground where we were parked.
Jake had a interview with Lionsite for a potential job when he is back. It went well and he has to get references.

Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour

We woke in port Macquarie.
We went to the pool in Wauchop and swam and got showers. After we went to the shops and got food. We left for crescent head to south west rocks and got chips to keep us going. Then we drove to Numbacca heads and we pulled up to cook dinner and we seen loads of whales thrashing. Jake sent out the drone and got great fottage.

Coffs harbour

We woke up and drove to a pitch and done our run. Jake ran down the town but as usual I just went around the pitch as I hate running around people or hills. It was really tough we were both so warm after it!
Then we drove to Sawtell rock pool to cool off. It was a really nice swim there were loads of fish and slugs the size of my hand.
A lifeguard asked us to do a survey with him and we went back to the van. Then Jake decided he was going to go for a surf. I tidied the van while he was gone. Then we drove to a coles and got bits for lunch.
We ate that and then walked down to North Wall Beach. It felt like an oven as there was not much of a breeze but we decided to stick it out as it's not ment to nice over the next few days.Lue lisää

Coffs Harbour to Yamba

We woke up in Coffs Harbour. We drove to Park Beach reserve and done a workout wirh the cards which was so hard!
After I had a shower which was like ice but it was grand as I was so warm!
We then drove to Sawtell beach again where Jake done some surfing. But he didn't stay long as the waves were so big and just kept pulling to the rocks. Even the guys that surf there always said they were nearly pulled up to Queensland when they got out.
We drove to Coffs Harbour jetty and walked up this big hill and got nice view of all the beaches. Then we walked down along the jetti and we saw a few turtles and sting rays!
We walked back to the car and we were deciding whether to stay another night if Coffs Harbour or not. So we just decided to move on and we can always stay here again on our way back down. We drove to Yamba and arrived just before 6. As it was Saturday we decided to treat ourselves to a pizza from the Italian on the hill. It ended up not being that nice but there was no clean up at least.
