    From Berlin to Reykjavik

    June 25, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌧 7 °C

Our second time in Iceland has started. First we went to Prague, where my parents picked William up. I still can't imagine being a week without him, but he was very brave while telling us good bye :). Then we quickly went back home to pack everything including some Equipment we've never used before. 4 hours of sleep and after that right to the Berlin Airport. After long queues and some delay we finally landed in Keflavik. It seemed so familiar - it is not even a year ago, we were here the last time :) the first thing that had to be done was buying an about 1 kg licorice-chocolate Bons in a duty free shop to be prepared for the 45 minutes bustrip to Reykjavik (and for everything else what's going to come after). Outside it was 11°C and pourring rain, the real islandic summer so to say.
The first night we are staying in the very nice student dormitory at the University of Iceland :) a nice room with two beds and without a bathroom for 134€, then a perfect dinner with islandic lamb, salad and cod fish for the same price - I guess we can't afford to live like islandic students every day 😃 but it was definitely worth it, no wonder that the Old Iceland Restaurant on the Laugavegur street never has a free table without a reservation.
We came back ,,home" absolutely wet and tired and even if It's weird to go to sleep while it's always light outside, we must try it to be prepared for tomorrow.

    From Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar

    June 26, 2023 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 9 °C

When we woke up the sun was shining in Reykjavík and the city immediately seemed much more welcoming. We quickly had a shower at our dormitory and at 7 a.m. our bus was leaving from the City hall to Landmannalaugar - the adventure could start 🤩. After about 4 hours going through lava fields and crossing rivers we came to our mother Camp in Landmannalaugar. We had a quick Lunch and started our first trail through the rhyolit mountains. Even if the weather forecast was really bad it was not raining all the time and we could see many magnificient views. After this short 8 km trip there was a common cooking with our group - we are actually 16 people from the US, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France and our guide is an Italian. The funny point is, that we are all sleeping in the same room in a small Hut and except of us there are 3 more groups, so we are about 70 people in this place maximum as big as a two-generation house 😅
After the Dinner it stopped raining, so we decided to have a ,,shower" in the hot springs before going to sleep. Lying in my sleeping bag I felt really sorry for all the poor peoole, who decided to do the tour and sleep in the tent, because it's going to be like 1°C tonight and it's raining again 🥶
