Winchcombe to Dowdeswell - 11.5 Miles

On a sunny summer solstice day , we walked out of Winchcombe up the hill to enjoy panoramic views back over Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle. Slightly further on we found the perfect swing with a view set next to an orchard filled with beautiful red poppies. The walk then took us past Belas Knap Long Barrow, a Neolithic burial chamber over 5000 years old. We then walked up over Cleeve Hill with its golf course and onto the summit where we enjoyed our lunch looking over the city of Cheltenham. A gentle stroll downhill took us to Dowdeswell to catch a bus back to Cheltenham. Memories of the day were the bleating lambs, the bird song and the abundance of butterflies we encountered on this stretch. (Total distance walked today 14.1 miles).もっと詳しく
