To the most eastern German city

    Jun 6–7, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

To start our Baltic trip, we took a head start driving to the Polish border this evening. Quite a trip of almost 700km... We call that: Making the most out of our holiday 😉🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Hidden gems!

    Jun 7–8, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Our first three highlights on this roadtrip were astonishing! Görlitz, the Peace Church of Jawor and Wroclaw were all three astonishing as the pictures prove. Wroclaw is probably the most underrated city we've ever visited in Europe, offering us some nice sun-on-thunder clouds views! And that food taste was really spectacular!Read more

  • Double Unesco hit

    Jun 8–11, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Today was another double up concerning UNESCO world heritage: first we visited the Centennial Hall in Wroclaw, which is an exceptional & daring piece of architecture, after which we drove for 3,5h to Warsaw where we had a lovely evening stroll in the old town, including some cocktails with fancy finger food meeting a friend living as a local here... these locals always make great choices!Read more

  • The Warsaw Royal Route

    June 9, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Today we strolled along the royal route between the royal palace and the most well known building in Warzaw: the Palace of Culture & Science from where we had a great view on the city! In between we witnessed Chopin all over the city including his heart in the Holy Cross church... as a pianist this could not be missed! After a lovely Dumplings meal, we took a nap (yes, we're getting that old 🫣) before enjoying a night with friends.....Read more

  • From palaces to rough alternatives

    June 10, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Some more popular creatures passed our road today: again Chopin, but now also Madame Curie & the Blue Angels... we also visited the "other" side of the river, Praga, which was a bit more rough with buildings that seemingly suffered from WWII! At the end of our Warzaw three-days we stumbled in a lovely cozy tea house, with hundreds of different teas! Lovely final moments in that basement 😉Read more

  • Time zone shift

    Jun 11–13, 2025 in Lithuania ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Today was a travel day driving from Poland to Vilnius, Lithuania via Kaunas. This marked the first time in our lives traveling to another time zone per car...
We stopped at some impressive churches in Kaunas and had a great "deep dining" experience in Uzupis, an independently declared republic in Vilnius... our taste buds enjoyed it for sure! The alcohol levels might have been a bit over the top as the picture proves...Read more

  • Beaver stew on a rainy day

    Jun 12–13, 2025 in Lithuania ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Vilnius didn't show herself from her nicest side being dark and rainy... however, we did walk through some lovely places & churches... such a day was also perfect to have some local food (such as beaver stew 🤷🏼‍♂️) and a good rest before the longer trip to Tallinn tomorrow!Read more

  • Finally meeting the Baltic Sea

    June 13, 2025 in Latvia ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

After some purchases at the local market (think local pastry & vegetables) we could enjoy the 7h trip to Tallinn on a sunny day! We had a short stop touching the Baltic Sea halfway though. Tallinn seems to be worth it... we just had short evening walk through the World heritage old town and it's really impressive! Already looking forward to tomorrow to see it all!Read more

  • The Baltic Pearl

    June 14, 2025 in Estonia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Today we visited for sure one of the loveliest cities we saw until now: Tallinn! Although the huge amount of tourists thrown out from the cruise ships were a bit annoying... this city could hold well with Bruges when it's about old buildings and views... a real pearl at the Baltic Sea!
In the late afternoon we took the ferry to the most north EU capital: Helsinki... we got stuck in the supermarket this evening: the choice we had there was over the top, hence us losing many hours there! Really incredible....

  • Sea & sun to make up for boredom

    June 15, 2025 in Finland ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Today we walked 12km through Helsinki & some islands next to it... it was super nice weather with up to 25 degrees so the walks along the water with a cool breeze did good and could make up for the boredom and high prices we came across 😅Read more

  • Finland's must do's

    June 16, 2025 in Finland ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

  • Back to old times

    June 17, 2025 in Finland ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Yesterday felt like stepping straight into the pages of a medieval fairytale — we feasted on a hearty, festive meal surrounded by authentic medieval interiors, served by staff fully in character! As if the ambiance wasn’t magical enough, we ended up sharing stories and laughter with a warm German couple now living in Copenhagen.

Of course, liters of honey and ginger beer 🍺 flowed freely… and let’s just say, today’s energy came with a slight delay 😜🤷🏼‍♂️.

Before that, we explored one of Finland’s crown jewels: Suomenlinna — a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site steeped in history. Once a military stronghold built to guard against Russian forces, its peaceful beauty today is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come. Here’s hoping Finland never needs to use it for that purpose again 🙏🏼.

  • Steps Through Time in the Baltic Capital

    June 18, 2025 in Estonia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Today, we took one last stroll through the charming parks and breezy seaside of Tallinn — a city that truly knows how to leave a mark on your heart.

After a scenic 4.5-hour drive, we arrived in Riga — the shimmering Pearl of the Baltics and its largest, most vibrant city. It didn’t take long for us to fall under its spell…
A first wander through the elegant Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) quarter felt like stepping into a living gallery, each building a masterpiece. And yes — we found ourselves once again in the embrace of a UNESCO World Heritage old town.

Riga seems to be yet another city steeped in stories, history, and stunning architecture… and we’re already eager to dive deeper into its magic tomorrow!

  • From Stalin’s Cake to Singing Locals: Ri

    June 19, 2025 in Latvia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Dodging a few thundershowers (because why not add a bit of drama to the day?), we kicked off our Riga Old Town adventure with a bird’s-eye view from none other than Stalin’s infamous “birthday cake”—a.k.a. the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Ah yes, the good old communist charm wrapped in concrete! Surprisingly… we loved it. And that panoramic view? Worth every socialist breeze.

From there, Riga swept us off our slightly soggy feet. Medieval buildings straight out of a fantasy novel, peaceful parks whispering “sit down, you’ve earned it,” and statues that looked like they were mid-debate about Marxism. Even the library had flair—locals were singing, probably to the books, but who cares? It was magical.

And the best part? No tourist stampede! Unlike the bustling crowds of Tallinn, Riga gave us space to breathe, explore, and fall in love with its quirky, history-soaked soul. 10/10, would thunderstorm again.

  • From rain to rays

    June 20, 2025 in Poland ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

Our alarm clock did its cruel duty at 6:30 AM, dragging us out of bed to kick off our longest 9-hour road trip from Riga to Gdansk. The journey began with heavy rain, but as if rewarding our bravery, each passing hour peeled back the clouds, until we rolled into sunny Gdansk like weather warriors emerging victorious.

With some daylight still to spare, we stretched our legs for a first stroll through the windy streets of Danzig (as the Germans like to call it). We even dared our first outdoor dinner of the trip—because nothing says “vacation” like battling gale-force winds for your Polish food. Sure, it was a bit nippy, but the sun was shining, and that counts! Here’s to the start of three glorious, sunshine-filled days. Summer’s making a last-minute comeback, and we’re not mad about it.

  • History and unexpected magic in Gdansk

    June 21, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Yesterday, we dove headfirst into the unexpected treasure trove that is Gdańsk. Between its proud Hanseatic roots, bustling port, and its somber claim to fame as the spark that lit the fire of World War II, Gdańsk serves up a cocktail of charm, grit, and soul in every cobbled street.

We wandered beyond the city center too. First stop: Westerplatte, the very spot where Germany kicked off the madness of WWII. Standing there, it’s impossible not to feel the weight of history… Heavy stuff.

But then, like emotional rollercoaster pros, we shifted gears and floated into Oliwa—a peaceful neighboring town that felt like a gentle hug after all that intensity. There, we stumbled upon a dreamy park and a cathedral so majestic! Just as we were soaking in the calm, the massive organ began playing the Wedding March—and BAM! Instant goosebumps combined with shame having bombed a wedding 😱😃

  • Cream-filled dreams, Castles & Cold Dive

    June 22, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We kicked off the day with what might just have been the breakfast of the trip—thanks to a great tip from Puya’s colleague (yes, that mysterious third guy popping up in some of our pics). The magical place? An “Eklerownia”—a shrine to eclairs where they serve nothing but these glorious, cream-filled masterpieces. 🥹 Pure, sugary bliss.

Afterwards we headed to the beach to cool off from the sizzling heat. Apparently, half the city had the same idea—it was Sunday, after all. After what felt like a treasure hunt for a free patch of sand, we finally found our spot. Feeling brave (or just overconfident), we were the only ones who dared to jump in the water… and immediately realized why no one else did. 🥶 Polar bears would’ve hesitated.

Next on our adventure list was the legendary Malbork Castle, the largest brick castle on Earth. And guess what? Everyone else had that idea too. The queue looked like it had been imported from Disneyland. So, instead of baking in line, we cruised over to charming Torun—because if you can’t tick another UNESCO, you should visit another one!

We wrapped up the day with a roasty 30°C evening with a light salad in the gorgeous old town of Poznan. Because nothing says summer quite like pretending salad is a responsible life choice after eclairs for breakfast. 😄

  • Baltic to the Bone

    June 23, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Our Baltic & Poland roadtrip ends just as it began: with a long journey through Germany. But not before we paid a final cultural homage to the majestic Posener Dom (because what’s one more cathedral when your Google Maps timeline already looks like a medieval pilgrimage?).

Looking back, this roadtrip was packed. Maybe a little too packed — the kind of packed that makes you consider booking a vacation to recover from your vacation.

We chased the ghost of the Hanseatic League... And let me tell you: some cities are true hidden gems. Tallinn? A medieval fairytale. Riga? Full of surprises. Wrocław? Quirky, colorful, and crawling with gnomes (yes, really). Others were… fine. Nice. They tried their best.

Still, we racked up 5 countries, 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites (we lost count somewhere in Lithuania), and a whopping 5100km. The result? 181 curated photos bursting with stories. This trip may be over, but the roadtrip Lust? Stronger than ever.
