    Asakusa by night

    June 11, 2022 in Japan ⋅ 🌧 20 °C

    🇨🇵

Asakusa is (too much) known for its Sensō-ji temple and the shops surrounding it. This area is often very crowded, everyone wants to take a picture in front of the well known Kaminarimon gate.

What if I tell you that for me the real show of Asakusa is happening during the night ?

You can access the temple area throughout the night, but I recommand to go there between 9PM and midnight, preferably before 10PM if you want to draw a prediction (Omikuji).

When the stalls are closed, Sensō-ji quickly become really, really quiet, as opposed to day time. The temple is illuminated in the night, I think it makes it far more beautiful than during the day.

By walking a bit farther in Sumida river direction, there is a really nice view of the Tokyo Sky Tree, also illuminated and reflecting in the river.
