Today is my last day in Norway. I went to Fauske for my final grocery trip and bought ingredients to make my hosts no bakes to show some of my gratitude. The rest of my day was spent cleaning and packing. I showered and started a load of laundry then went back to the hose around 8 for a pizza dinner! Lila had made a gluten free pizza with moose, red onions, lactose free Alfredo/sour cream sauce and cheese. It was on of the best gluten free pizzas I've ever had! They liked the cookies and had one before and after the meal. (Morning) I tried to convey my gratitude of their hospitality and left around 8am.Meer informatie

Today I made the 10 hr drive back to Sweden to my Airbnb in Ljungdalen. The drive was long, but I got to see a few herds of reindeer and found a fantasy audiobook to enjoy. When I arrived at the location I realized that the address just brought me to the middle of town, not to my Airbnb. And I had no service to get anymore information. I went to the tourist center and gas station in time for wifi or help, but both were closed and there wifi password protected. It was getting late, around 6:30, and I needed help. While I sat at the gas station weighing my options 2 people wrode up on snow mobiles to re fuel. It took some courage, but I went up and asked for help. It was an older man around 60 with a jolly face and willing to help. He pulled up his phone and had reception to enter the exact address. I took a picture of his phone, thanked him for saving me and made my way to the cottage. When I found it I was jumping up and down with relief as I unloaded the car.Meer informatie

Back to work

The cabin is very nice and cozy, which is good because I will be spending much more time inside having to work the weekdays that I am here. Today was my first day back at work I worked almost 9 hrs with just one short break. This job is fun but it makes me contracted and tired. I hope I can work out a way to make it easier on me in the future.Meer informatie

Today I had to be at at 4:30 for a meeting, so I took the morning to explore the surrounding woods a bit. There isn't any equipment here so I just had to bundle up and trudge through the snow. It's warm here and things are melting, but there is still snow up to my knees that I sink in. My walk wasn't easy tredging through deep wet snow, but I was happy to be out in the tall pines of been imagining since I decided to take this trip. I found a very large ant hill with thousands of ants teaming in and on it.Meer informatie

Wet hike

Today I went for a hike on the marked trails by the cottage. Thankfully the tracks had been run by snow mobiles so I didn't sink in to my knees every step. Everything was in the middle of melting, there were a lot of creeks starting to run. There were many spots where you could hear water gushing under the snow. I followed the snow mobile tracks in a loop, however, on the way back, the trail went over some wet lands that started to melt. I as I made my way around I noticed a large bird with white circles on its wings. I tried to find a way around the marsh, but eventually I sank into the snow and my boot filled with water. It was a sloshy walk back.Meer informatie

Today I went in a short walk across the road the a large river. At the beginning of my hike I startled an owl that has sitting directly over my head. I took some time and sat down by the roaring river and enjoyed for awhile.Meer informatie

I've been slacking on keeping up with these so I'll just give an overview of the days I've missed. My week days have mainly been wake up at 9:30ish, meditate, eat breakfast, tie dye, work till 8:30, eat, relax, meditate for a bit, head to bed. With a hike to the near by river thrown in here and there. I have been wearing my watch to remind me to meditate for 5 mins every 2 hours, it's great! I've also been making some good strides in meditation. Attention is now able to catch very subtle sensations, intentions and reactions. I've also been getting closer to the experience where all of your attention flows out into feel out, see out and hear out and the inner world starts collapsing. I've also started missing Taleia more in the last few days, but I try to remind myself of the reasons I left and what not. And I've been thinking about my plan when I get back too. Where do I want to go and how and for how long? I want to go back to my friends in Denver, but I feel like if I do I have to fully commit to making a life there and settling down. Anyways, today is my last day at this Airbnb. I'm planning on going to the tourist shop and getting a gift for mother's day and enjoying the area one last time :)Meer informatie

Midnight walk

Todat was rather uneventful, but this evening I went for a late night walk. I left around 11:30 and walked down to the river I had been previously. It was easy traversing the jungle in the dark. The nights are quite bright now as the days get longer and longer in this part of the world. It was a spooky walk.Meer informatie

Last Airbnb

Today I drove to my last Airbnb. I left around 10:30 and left the last bit of snow behind me by 12. For the next 5 hours I listened to the Mistborn audiobook before arriving. I did stop at a supermarket near Galve, no local reindeer, moose or goat cheese like the last store. It was about 6:30 when I arrived. The villa is surrounded by tall pines and birch trees filled with birds singing songs. My heart swells with joy, finally feeling the tide of spring. My hosts had their friend Thomas stop over with a new SIM card for the modem as the current one is running low. I walked around barefoot for awhile then explored the area before dinner. The house was cold so I turned on all the heaters I could find, but they aren't very powerful. Night came and when I was ready for bed I started turning off all the lights. A creepy feeling fell over me being in the dark, alone in a large house. I tried to keep the scary parts of my mind at bay as I got ready. I finished up downstairs and just as I started to head upstairs, I saw all the lights turn off. Of course s spooky ghost was the first thing to come to mind, but I figured I blew a circuit turning all the heating up. I spent a few minutes looking for the circuit box, but decided to leave it till morning. I hesitantly meditated for a bit then went to sleep with my ear buds in to quell my feelings of unease.Meer informatie

I woke up this morning surprised that I was still comfortably warm knowing no heat had ran all night. I messaged my hosts and was able to flip the circuit to get power back. I took my time with breakfast sitting on the porch stairs and enjoying the sun and birds. I decided to head to a trail today as this was my only full day off here. It was beautiful, my heart swam in wonder and beauty throughout. It started with large knotted trees amist flowering underbrush, then forests of mossy rocks and pines filled with the lush echoes of woodpeckers and song birds. There were roaring rivers emptying out into large lakes dotted with islands and fisherman. It was a wonderous day :)Meer informatie

I haven't added any updates since my last walk. Something opened in me during that walk that I have been able to keep open. Or a better way of putting it would be that I let it be open and its opening can manifest in many different beautiful ways. I've been doing hourly ~2min meditations that I think have helped solidify it more, but all it really is is surrendering to experience and not fighting it. I can see that doing this to an extreme degree could lead to some really amazing things. The nature in this area is still stunning to me and opening itself.Meer informatie

Leaving sweden

Today I packed up my bags to leave Sweden. The feelings are a big mixed bag. I feel very sad to leave this beautiful country where my heart has opened as it has. I'm excited to come back to a country where I fit in more and can more easily connect. I'm also a bit anxious about what I'm going to do when I get back: Colorado, friends, family, building a family. What do I do next? I'm going to do my best to stay out of the way of whatever happens. Anyways, my flight to Georgia was cancelled since my first flight was delayed, so I'm stuck in the Schipol Amsterdam for 14hrs until my flight at 7am. I checked my speedometer before I dropped off my car and I had driven over 4500km!Meer informatie
