Although the weather wasn't good today we decided to walk to St. Helier. It was a nice walk with a bit rain.

Arrival at Grand Hotel Jersey

Finally we arrived at Grand Jersey. We left our luggage at the hotel and went outside to find an ATM to get some Jersey pounds. Because our room wasn't already ready we decided to hire a 4 wheel bike and had a lot of fun! We drove 2,3km oneway and also 2,3km oneway back to the bike station.Les mer

Playing in the sand

To early for coming back to the hotel we made a walk on the low tided sea. Michael played with the sand and I enjoyed the sun whilest sitting on the reef barriers. Always looking at the duck busses which are traveling between the harbour and Elisabeth Castle.Les mer

More than 10.000 steps today

After our check-in at Grand Jersey we made a walk looking up for dinner. On the opposite side of the hotel there is a Thai Restaurant located so we decided to try this.
We chose Pad Thai for me and Chicken Satay and Chips for Michael. The portions was too huge for us. But not too huge for Michael to haven't an ice cream after it. In the harbour park there are a few teens playing football, volleyball and badminton. That's fantastic - they meet in the evenings and play some games outside! Where else can you find something like that? On the way back to the hotel there was a message at the phone: you arrived more than 10000 steps this day - wow!Les mer

- Mont Orgueil Castle
- Hamptonne County Life Museum
- Plemont Bay and - last but not least -
- Elisabeth Castle

Mont Orgueil Castle

After breakfast we agreed that we will start with Mont Orgueil Castle in the east of the island. On the way, rain was coming. After we got off, there were much more rain, so that our rain jackets which we bought especially for this journey, could be finally used.
We asked for the path to the castle and started climb the hill. What a beautiful castle and Michael had also the opportunity to dress up as a knight. The view on top of the castle was gorgeous 👀
Back in town the bus was still waiting and we drove back to Liberation station.Les mer

Hamptonne County Life Museum

A short stop with refreshment at Liberation station and we got off to bus no. 7 to Hamptonne Country Life Museum.
A quick time out with watching a lot of chicken with their baby chicken, sheep's and pigs and the lovely Jersey cows. Also horses were there.
On the playground we stopped for a break.
At 3:15 p.m. we took the bus back to Liberation station.Les mer

Off to the big city

Today, we started the day with a strange feeling. Yesterday, I switched off the mobile phone, woke up in the night. To look after the time, I started the mobile phone. Bähm... I entered the wrong pin. So, I switched off again and tried it in the morning.
Bähm... also in the morning I entered the wrong pin again.
The third time I was so sure. This is it. Bähm... "You entered a wrong pin three times. So, the mobile phone will be locked. Shit, shit, shit... That cannot be true...

So, because we didn't achieved somebody at home, we had to check out at 10:15 a.m. and drove to the airport. Without taking photos, without playing games on the mobile for Michael...

Departure from Jersey was planned for 1:50 p.m. Due to very bad weather conditions in London we departed at 2:50 p.m. Arrival at London after a turbulenced flight was at 3:45 p.m.
There was so much rain there and chaos so that we had to wait in the aircraft for further half an hour. After the busses arrived at the runway there was no steps to went out. So we had to further wait again...
After preparing the steps a few minutes ago we left the aircraft by heavy rain. So we got wet from top to bottom.

The Heathrow Express was found quikly, we bought a ticket for 38 pounds (return ticket). After a short journey with three stops we arrived at Paddington Station. It was so crowded, I regret leaving Jersey for this trip to London. Everything was so easy in Jersey, so relaxed. London was crowded, confusing, loud and dirty.
But we learned that due to that bad weather conditions there was closed a few tube stations and the people gathered en masse everywhere.

My phone didn't still work so I couldn't took any photos from the crowd.Les mer

On the way to our hotel in London

At Paddington Station we bought a ticket for the tube. 10 pounds again. London is indeed an expensive city. We need a few moments to find out the correct connection to Greenwich. Then I got fed up and asked again. We have to take the circle line to Monument station and change there to Greenwich. Arrived on the platform we didn't know which direction. No circle line was there. So I asked again and learned that we have to drive only one station to Edgware Road than change to the circle line. This was necessary because of closure of the station. It was really confusing.
Changing at Monument station was even more confusing. So many pedestrian tunnels, people who was waiting for their train in queues...terrible. After we went wrong several times we arrived at the right platform - not to reassure myself again that it's the right direction.
After the tube came to the surface, we left London's skyline behind and really rode to Greenwich. This part of the route was really nice because you ride through urban canyons with Thames water overall.
Finally arrived at Cutty Sark station on 7:30 p.m. and after a short walk we arrived at The Mitre Innkeeper's Lodge as well.Les mer
