Quito, Ecuador

Flight 9:54AM to 5:30PM Boston to Quito with a one-hour layover in Panama City. Flew COPA Airlines and had exit row seats (no extra charge). Comfortable flights.

On arrival, our transfer was not at the gate so we waited 30 min, called G Adventures office and said "where is our transfer?!" Luckily, they had an internet/phone cafe ($1/min for local calls). Transfer finally arrived 30 min after that. Javier was very nice and apologized profusely for his tardiness (had issues with the parking lot?). He took us around Quito (? the long way) and it took about an hour to get to the hotel.

Hotel Hilton Colon - very nice so far. Concierge gave us a map and some suggestions and so far everyone speaks good English. Dinner was at a small food stand down the street: Las Autenticas de la Carrion. S got fried chicken and french fries, M got pork and french fries.

Returned to the hotel shortly after that for the night.Read more
