So we slept for 15 hours and obviously the prime thing we needed to do once awakening was get some more relaxation time at Centralbadet. That is, after we got some breakfast at the hotel which was a feast! Not only did they have a whole gluten free section but they had crispy or soft bacon, soft cooked eggs, and every kind of muesli topping ever invented.
The spa was über incredible and amazingly restorative. After getting a lecture on spa etiquette (sandals on at all times, no swimsuits in the saunas but please cover yourselves completely with the towels) we found our lockers and made the first stop at the showers. They are very serious in this area-- wash yourself with bathing suits off and in case we weren't certain how to do it, there was a poster showing the body parts to concentrate your pre-bath scrubbing (hair, pits, and bits... In case you were interested).
After reapplying our suits, we hit the roman baths. One was a deep plunge pool of perfectly hot water. One was jacuzzi style with under water lounge chairs (and with a super strong jet that rotor-rootered my vajayjay before I could frantically flail away), an icey cold water plunge pool (which I did thrice) and a circle path that brought you back and forth from a shin deep ice pool and hot pool.
After a while, we went into the shower room, removed our suits as instructed, and headed into the saunas wrapped in our towels. First stop was an incredibly hot salt steam room. I lasted 2 minutes. Next was an aromatherapy and crystal sauna which was much more pleasant. Emily said it smelled like a pizzeria.
We joined an old Swedish man in the "Nordic Hot Sauna" and again I lasted a mere minute before I had to leave, gasping for breath. But I found the cold air fan area and lounged there to quiet my screaming lungs. After a 10 minute ultra red light therapy session and some time in the sound/salt room, we headed to the swimming pool and did some laps. One more round in the roman bath and soon we were on our way, relaxed through and through and ready for adventure.
We walked a mile to achieve my dream--enjoying coffee and pastries in a traditional Swedish flïka at the year gluten free bakerei in Sweden. Sharing the pastries, we got to try a cinnamon roll, a vanilla raspberry pastry, and a princess cake.
