I stayed one week in Seoul because I was waiting for other cyclists to join me there. With Hilshien and Auke, a Dutch couple, and David, a German guy, we met "virtually" through a whatsapp cyclo-travelers group.
Hilshien and Auke were coming from Japan and the south of Korea, David, like me, from China, and since our schedules were bringing us almost at the same time in Seoul, we decided to all meet there ! We decided to stay at the same hotel, making it eadier to chat, cook and explore the city together. Good times. We had thousands of little stories and recommendations to share ! We often gathered around maps, with "themes dinner" around one country one of us has seen : Hilshien and Auke told us about Korea and Japan, David and I shared our experiences of China and Myanmar. We concluded this cyclist gathering by a picnic, where I also invited other people I had met in Seoul. Only little "problem" : I realised only once I had given the spot to everyone that it was really far from our hotel (15 km, again!) But well, my fellow travel companion have good legs and didn't complain too much. And here we go, for a crazy night ride along the Han river, with our bags loaded with food and booze. David and I bought some well-assorted korean socks and the atmosphere was nice with Joana, Jennifer and Sanghyung, my warmshowers hosts, and Emeline, the world tourer I met in Bukhansan. Joana's husband even cycled us partly back home to show us a route on cycling lanes. A nice evening to end up my leisure week in Seoul.Læs mere
