Unfortunately the reversing camera we wanted for Hazel was not available, so we were able to leave early and head south - arriving in Cambridge in mid afternoon where we stayed for a few days. We were aware things were getting warmer as we came south - happy days.
Rejoined the Camping and Caravan Club and stayed on their site - we chose a pitch in the middle of the site completely unshaded, and soaked up the sun's rays.
Cycled into Cambridge one day and had a good wander round through the old colleges and across Jesus Fields to the river.
Cycled to Anglesea Abbey north east Cambridge to the National Trust (NT) property. Well worth the effort - fascinating collection of artefacts and beautiful gardens and Mill. Great cycle route too.
Fixed the puncture on my road bike and had a thrash around the site - I had forgotten how good a bike it is as I had not been on it for some time.もっと詳しく

Journeyed down to the Lea Vallley - strategic point for visits to London just outside emissions zone.
Cycled up the Lea Valley to Waltham Abbey and onwards up to Ware (Where you might say - Indeed) - a nice enough little town on the Lea Navigation.
Great cycling through the Lea Valley.
Visited the remains of Waltham Abbey (EH) worth a short visit but not a major detour. The river here was covered in algae - had trouble picking out the moorhen chicks in the murk.

Cycled south on Lea Valley cycle path into Limehouse Docks and then to the Tower of London. A long ride {about 16 miles each way} but we felt good at the end.
Walked the Southbank and had a look in the Jewel Tower at the Palace of Westminster.
Anti Brexit protest outside Paliament building - very colourful. Must have been about 50 people there wrapped in the Union and EU flags. Another group alongside were campaigning for the release of a politician in Jail in Pakistan - very noisy.
Lea Valley cycle path once again very good. The last uphill climb to reach the campsite was a challenge, but we managed it!!!もっと詳しく

Extended our stay here for reasons that will become apparent.
Took transport into London - bus, rail overland, docklands light railway, river bus then tube through the day to see the The Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, Greenwich Park and a covered market in Greenwich to boot. Cutty Sark very interesting, with lots of school groups charging around being reprimanded by their teachers. How lovely it is to be retired and not part of that any more!!!!もっと詳しく

Spent a lazy morning here and had a wander along the Lea Valley Navigation
Following day cycled into London to take in more sights.
Took in the new piece of artwork on The Serpentine which is apparently supposed to make you think of something but we are not sure what.. The artist, apparently, is very happy for you to think about anything at all which is very nice of him.
Also took in Aspley House and the Wellington Arch which are worth a visit - full of interesting artworks and info surrounding the Battle of Waterloo.もっと詳しく

Stayed here yet another day because we had the joyous news that our new grand child had emerged at 4:32 this morning.
We had to stay to see her - Jemima Jane - a new sister to Magnus.
Magnus is very pleased as you can see but a little suprised that Jemima will not play with all his trucks just yet.
We spent a little time with Stewart and Emily before leaving to enjoy a marvellous meal at Gokyuzu in Walthamstow. A very busy restaurant - not suprising - food was excellent.もっと詳しく

旅行者 Wonderful news. Many congratulations to you all. So glad you are having a fab time. We are currently in Abbywood near London in the new motorhome that finally arrived last Friday. We csmnip to London for my brother's sixtiest birthday bash. I don't know if you have ever stayed here but it's a great site with really easy links into London. Have a great time at Latitude. Sorry we will miss you, but we must catch up on the road somewhere soon. Zxx

Travelled to Hampshire to tend to the garden in South Wonston. A quick call by as we needed to be in Woking on Thursday for Alan to attend a meeting.
Found a quiet CL at Fairview farm and enjoyed the peace so much we stayed an extra night driving to Woking from there.
Got the garden looking good again.
After Woking we spent a night in Corfe Mullen as we had Hazel booked in for the new reversing camera the following day.もっと詳しく

Kingston Lacy

Dropped Hazel of at 9:00am for the new camera.
Cycled to Wimborne Minster for breakfast - a really nice one at Aroma - with a very chatty host.
Then had a look at an NT property - Kingston Lacy. An interesting and extensive collection of art work with pleasant gardens.
Baking hot day.
Finished off near Lyme Regis high on a hill at Wood Farm where, through the haze, we can see Portland Bill on the horizon. Staying here for a couple of nights to test the beach at Charmouth.もっと詳しく

Sidmouth

Moved along the coast to Sidmouth. Here we parked on Alison and Russ's drive.
Enjoyed a great afternoon in the sun after a morning deluge, much needed after the incredible heat we've been experiencing. Enjoyed several glasses of fizz and a bbq. Russ' mum was visiting, and Meg came over. A great afternoon and evening, and we even managed to catch up on washing our clothes and bedding.
Stayed 2 further nights with Meg and took the bus into Exeter, which is a lovely city.
We went to the Sidmouth theatre on Tuesday evening to see the repertory company's production of "Lloyd George Knew My Father" which was brilliantly performed and very funny.もっと詳しく

We had the chance to see Kirsty on our return to London so stopped off for a night in Stockbridge.
Kirsty had been at a wedding and was on her way back from the festivities and catching up with friends.
Very sunny afternoon and Kirsty's only shade was her wedding hat.
Popped into Woking for a brief meeting following day and travelled up to London for a couple of nights to break the journey to Suffolk where we are going for the Lattitude Festival later in the week. we are taking the opportunity of visiting the new addition to our family. Jemima will have grown since we saw her last week - just hope she remembers us!!!!もっと詳しく
