The next day was clear and sunny but there was still plenty of water around. We headed through Mt Isa and in to the NT after a stop for the mandatory border photo.

We hit a nasty storm cell not long after leaving Hughenden and there was flash flooding at Richmond and Julia Creek. Our planned overnight stop was flooded out so we pushed on to Cloncurry.

Travelling through Central Australia in an extreme heatwave is not ideal. We did our best to combat the temperatures by getting up at 5am and aiming to be off the road by 11am.
