    February 4, 2016 in Australia

    Hughenden - fuel

    April 16, 2017 in Australia

Hmmm...filled up with fuel and noticed a water leak under the van. Nothing strikes fear so much as having no water...

Took a while but fixed the broken clamp and refilled the tanks. Made the decision to head for Townsville instead of The Lynd. 200 klms of dirt road today has been enough for the time being...juat couldn't face another 100 tomorrow.

    Day 30

    June 26 in Australia

Out of bed early this morning and said our goodbyes to Julia Creek, on the road east at 8:15 heading for Hughenden all bitumen pretty lumpy and bumpy in some sections but overall good, had a quick look at Richmond on the way through a nice spot to put on the list for another trip. Got into Hughenden setup and then headed down the street for lunch and look at the shops, had a pie from the bakery just average, went to the info centre and checked out the museum very interesting full of dinosaur history. Drove out to Mount Walker about 10 kms south of town, you can drive right to the top for 360 degree views as far as you can see, nice van park but just on overnight stop.Read more

    Overlander's Way

    July 5, 2011 in Australia

Kurze Mittagspause in Julia Creek.

    Hughenden, Australia

    August 9 in Australia

Today we arrived in Hughenden and went straight to the Flinders Discovery Centre to see the Muttaburrasaurus and other fossils. We found out their theory on how Porcupine Gorge was formed and saw some great fossils. It's hard to believe that this area was once an inland sea! We had a quick look around town and headed back to our accommodation for the night.Read more

    Porcupine, Australia

    August 10 in Australia

Today we drove out to Porcupine Gorge. We trekked 1.2km down into the gorge where we explored and enjoyed the serenity of the magnificent sights. We explored the caves and the rock pools and sat on the sandy beach under the trees for lunch. The kids even found shells. It's hard to believe that this was once an ocean! The walk up was hard but Kylie and I finally made it and the girls were up the top cheering us on.Read more
