Kuala Lumpur and Batu Caves

Saturday at around 11 pm we arrived at Kuala Lumpur Airport. By rental car we drove to Kuala Lumpur city where we picked up Vany. After, what felt like, hours of driving and some check in troubles at the AirBnB, we finally made it to bed at 2 am.

The next day we enjoyed the luxury of sleeping in before heading to the grocery store to buy breakfast - some yogurt, fruits and granola 🤤. Filled with food we started our way to the petronas towers via grab. There we visited the KLCC mall - a mall full of Christmas decoration and some Christmas spirit for the 1st of Advent 🎄🕯.
We noticed that malls around Malaysia have way more Christmas decoration and shows than malls back home. After all this hot summer feeling we really appreciated some festive atmosphere 🥰.
From the mall we headed to Chinatown via free public bus - GoKL buses are a nice way to get around when on a budget!
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t nice and it was raining. Nevertheless we walked to the Jalan Alor Night food market for dinner.
After that we took another GoKL bus back to the twin towers to see them at night time. Absolutely worth it! We also watched a little water fountain light show outside the mall before heading back to the AirBnB.

Our AirBnB room is located inside a tall apartment complex. From the top (37th floor) you get a nice view of the city 🌃. A good way to end a sightseeing day.

The next day we headed towards the Cameron Highlands, 4 hours outside of KL. On the way we stopped at the Batu Caves - a temple inside a limestone cave. Very colorful and nice to see.

Gegen 23 Uhr kamen wir am Samstag am Flughafen Kuala Lumpur an. Mit einem Mietwagen holten wir Vany auf unserem Weg nach Kuala Lumpur City ab. Nach gefühlt stundenlanger Fahrt und ein paar Check-in Schwierigkeiten bei unserem AirBnB schafften wir es schließlich um 2 Uhr morgens ins Bett.

Am nächsten Morgen genossen wir den Luxus ausschlafe zu können. Danach gingen wir in den Supermarkt um Frühstück zu kaufen - etwas Joghurt, Obst und Müsli 🤤. Gefüllt mit Essen fuhren wir mit einem Grab (sowas wie Uber) zu den Petronas Towers. Dort besuchten wir das KLCC Einkaufszentrum - ein Einkaufszentrum voll mit Weihnachtsdekoration und ein wenig Weihnachtsstimmung passend zum 1. Advent 🎄🕯.
Wir haben festgestellt, dass Einkaufszentren in Malaysia viel mehr Weihnachtsdekoration und -shows haben als Einkaufszentren zu Hause. Nach all dem Sommer schätzen wir die festliche Atmosphäre im Dezember 🥰.
Vom Einkaufszentrum aus fuhren wir mit einem kostenlosen öffentlichen Bus nach Chinatown - GoKL-Busse sind eine gute Möglichkeit sparsam durch die Stadt zu fahren!
Leider war das Wetter nicht schön und es regnete durchweg. Dennoch wagten wir uns zum Jalan Alor Night Lebensmittelmarkt zum Abendessen.
Von dort nahmen wir einen weiteren GoKL-Bus zu den Towers, um diese bei Nacht zu sehen. Der Weg hat sich absolut gelohnt! Wir sahen auch eine kleine Wasser-Lichtshow vor dem Einkaufszentrum, bevor wir zurück zum AirBnB fuhren.

Unser AirBnB-Zimmer befindet sich in einem Hochhaus (Apartmentkomplex). Von ganz oben (37. Stock) hat man einen schönen Blick auf die Stadt 🌃. Ein guter Tag, um einen Sightseeing-Tag zu beenden.

Am nächsten Tag fuhren wir in Richtung Cameron Highlands. Die Cameron Highlands liegen 4 Stunden außerhalb von KL. Unterwegs hielten wir an den Batu Caves - einem Tempel in einer Kalksteinhöhle. Sehr bunt und schön zu sehen.Read more
