    Please God 🙏🙏

  • Day 6

    The Kitchen Sink

    September 21, 2019 in Ireland ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

That should do it .. probably too much but as Paddy would say better to be looking at it than for it

  • Day 6

    What could go wrong... onboard

    September 21, 2019 in Ireland ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

We only had the two to calm our nerves , lesson learned on the battered sausage I’d say 😇 not me this time

Ring ahead and tell them de Boys are back in town ..
audiobook on pause .. Anita does he sleep on the plane .. we will see

We are in row 25 near the back so will hit land or water last ! So we should be grand

    Day 1 Fecking punctures

    September 22, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

To set the record straight .. he snores .. big time and no drink on board so earplugs tonight

But he was punished cos his bike had a puncture when we got it , life balance 😇

I got a slow puncture later so though I sin , mine are not nearly as serious as Paddies

    Niall would have luved today
    Started @ 9.05 , 111k finished @ 17:25 .. blue pace 🤣

Garmin is the king of lost travellers and we need to chip together to get Paddy laser surgery so he can see when we are off course

My garmin died, twice but is back and working(ish)

So we Are tired and having a beer , may have two cos P hates uneven numbers

Towels in room are fab , and we have both done our first wash 😇😇

So I’m been rude and have to go

I did have to taunt him ..

    September 23, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Ok , my sins my not be minor , but no need to rub it in by giving me a flat this morning .. taking the Piss or what !

For the record Paddy didn’t snore last night , but he did flick the remote on at some stage and scared the bejasus out of me .. he then woke as I tried to pry it from his hand

Me in boxers , Anita I’ll pay for the therapy ..

Magic spin, Komoot challenged us to go off-road
We took the challenge once .. we were a bit nervous .. but Tis all good , Pdiddy wasn’t happy , went to Google , may have captured the pic ☺️

Coastal route was amazing , sea sun and surfers . In my mtb gear I fitted right in , casual nods , virtual high fives ..(none really ) Paddy looked like an elite athlete so stuck out ..

Lunch was great , we declined the 10% down gradient after cos we knew we’d have to come back up as would our lunch

It was v hot and I may have got a tad burnt both by Paddy on the road and the sun .. long sleeves for me tomorrow , 🥵

Savage climb to our hotel , my garmin died at 87k like me really , at the start of the hills .. there were great descents too but you know what goes down must come up , talking cycling here potty minds 🙄

Dinner was fab as were the deserts , even Paddy had one !!

So sore and stuffed . Watching hits of 1984 on the TV , hard to believe George Michael was gay , he was giving it holly in Careless Whisper .. Beyoncé was hot back then .. but weren’t we all 😎😂🕺

Got to go and soften my earplugs .. hilly tomorrow but Paddy reckons he will be like Niall’s donkey coming back off the Gap of Donloe ... mad for road for his spiritual home ... Alvor

He can feck off I’ll see him there 🤷‍♂️

    Oh Jesus

    September 24, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

We cut our spin short cos A, Paddy loves Alvor and wanted to get there quick and B cos we knocked 50k off it by doing so and C Paddy loves Alvor

First 5 k went down then up for 20 odd .. not just up but spiking at 10/11/14 % 8/9 are not note worthy

I’d to stop as I was melting and had no more gears and didn’t want to see Autopause again ... it still hurts

We got over the hill then the Donkey sped for home , I forced him to stop for a coffee and then to allow me pump my front tyre .. again , another slow puncture

So we got to Alvor about 12:30 . B2 thought it wasn’t much of a cycle .. easy to say that from rain soaked UCC ! 32deg here I’m now like Kanye W I’m that dark 😎

Went for a walk to the beach .. then walked along the beach .. no hand holding , sand and sea yada yada .. but v long !

Visited the Mullen’s favourite pubs and restaurants, well most of them , well some of them
Met most of Clon who are over for a golf week ..

Now paddy is sleeping on his mattress on the ground .. we have a double with two mattresses
    Quaint !

I thought it was 22;45 and was so impressed I’d stayed awake having endured Paddy’s snoring last night ... I’ve stuff to throw later , TG

  • Day 10

    allahu akbar

    September 25, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    I’ve converted ..
fixed the slow puncture this morning .. front tyre
Had a fresh one in the back inside the hour ..
So only one solution .. switch sides !

We followed Komoot all the way until Paddy’s patience finally ran out just before we went on another “unpaved road” not sure what the problem was I was the one with the puncture epidemic 😊

Twas a good call , great breakfast caramel apple pie TB no low cal option available so don’t judge

Garmin died just about 3 k from home . Paddy used google maps to get us the rest of the way !
So he lead for 3k or so #justsaying

Went for a swim in the SEA 🥶

    I’ll be fine don’t worry

Paddy and I had a romantic last dinner .. it’s nearly over but we will still be friends 👨‍❤️‍👨

  • Day 11

    'tis over

    September 26, 2019 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Elvis had a song of a similar title but somebody wrote it for him .. Paddy and I write our own lyrics .. it’s how we roll !

No surprise to find a flat back tyre 😥 this morning , given what’s happening in the UK with Brexit I’m not convinced they have this deity thing sorted so so ill do a straw poll .. should I go back to JC and go tubeless ?

We rocked on with Paddy as TGB... s bit surreal as he has NO maps on his Garmin , Twas like Columbus following a compass .. it told him he was off course but it was difficult to find where we should have gone . Mine was on also so I was able to be my usual supportive self 😇

We got to Spain .. yes Anita Spain .. at about 13:00
Our adventure over . It was great to do it , we didn’t row once .. he’s very patient ... we share a luv of craft beer and life balance though I think Paddy has a lot to teach me in that space

I do feel for Anita cos she has to endure the snoring , But not all of us can be perfect 😇

This type of cycling isn’t for everyone , avg pace about 20kph , weight of bike loaded about 35k
    Multiple stops , off-road segments , punctures .. don’t even talk about punctures ...

But it’s savage Craic and I’ve no doubt Paddy lived in the moment many a time as he slowed to wait for me ...

... and living in de Moment is what mindfulness is all about #justsaying

    Mission accomplished 😊

FFF tomorrow .. bring it on
