Drove home from Grants Pass and attended the Intel retiree dinner that night at Pumpkin Ridge golf course.
Oregon Caves National Monument

We drove to the Oregon Caves and was able to get on an 11am tour, instead of the 3pm tour I reserved. It was rainy and the lodge was closed, so there wasn't much to do if we had to wait.

Drury-Chaney Loop Trail by Pepperwood

We hiked the Drury-Chaney Loop Trail near Pepperwood, which use to be a town before it was wiped out by a flood, along with many other towns, roads, and bridges.
Founders Grove and Bull Creek

We did the short walk around Founders Grove and saw the big Founders tree.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park

Schramsberg Vineyard wine tasting tour

We toured the caves of Schramsberg Vineyard and tasted some very good sparkling wines (champagne).

Greystone and Pride Mountain winery

Visited Greystone in the morning, which use to the Christian Brothers winery and is now owned by CIA (Culinary Institute of America). We did the tour and learned how earthquakes damaged tunnels andもっと詳しく
Drive to Napa valley

Drove to Napa and stopped at the visitors center, then continued on to Bothe state park campground to setup camp. We went out for dinner that was over-priced. Then went to Ana's Cantina for a beer andもっと詳しく
Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome

We drove an hour from the Yosemite Valley campground to Glacier Point, where we could look directly down on the valley. An amazing view!!!!

Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls hike

We first hiked to Vernal Falls, then continued on to Nevada Falls. It was a hardy hike with great views for a reward.

Exploring Yosemite Valley

Today we explored Yosemite Valley.
We went on a ranger tour at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, formally known as the Ahwahnee Hotel, which is on the historic registry.
Yosemite Giant Sequoias

Travel day to Yosemite. We stopped at the Meraposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. These trees can be 2000 years old and are huge.

Buena Vista Aquatic Recreation Area camp

A travel day to Bakersfield, California area. After arriving, we did laundry and went to local brew pub.
We will rest here one day before driving to Yosemite.
Ultimate Championship Finals

Ultimate Championship Finals were played at Mira Mesa HS and broadcast on ESPN 3.
In the mixed division, we watched Philadelphia Amp beat Wash D.C. Space Heaters.

50 Years and Still Flying

In the morning, there was a session at the hotel called "50 Years and Still Flying". It discussed different aspects of Ultimate, including Ultimate charities, personal impacts of Ultimate, and theもっと詳しく
Charity tournament on Coronado beach

Played beach Ultimate charity tournament. We were the yellow team. After the second game, there were memorials for players that had passed away, which also included some silly games.

Stayed at Bob's house in San Diego

Bob was a housemate of mine in 1980-81. We stayed the night at his and Barb's house in San Diego. It was great seeing him again after so long.
Painted Rock Petroglyph campground

We left Sedona a day early due to predicted rain for next day. We stayed the night at Painted Rock Petroglyph campground on our way to San Diego.

West Fork hike and Chapel of Holy Cross

The best hike in the Sedona area is the West Fork trail of Oak Creek. Beautiful views of the canyon walls. To make it more interesting, we had to cross the stream 13+ times on the hike, but since theもっと詳しく
Boynton Canyon hike and Summit Viewpoint

We hike Boynton Canyon trail in the morning. This is supposed to be a vortex site. It is a beautiful area, but I didn't sense any mystical energy :-)

Travel to Sedona and more rain

Traveled on 89A to Sedona and along the way stopped at the Oak Creek Canyon Vista, which is just before the switchback in the road drops into the canyon. The views of the canyon were wonderful.

Walnut Canyon and downtown Flagstaff

This morning, we took the ranger tour of the "island" in Walnut Canyon. Cliff dwellings from 1100-1250 are here. It is a very unique and interesting place.
