  • Day 13 Mullu National Park

    July 28, 2025 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

A very early start for Clive, Hannah and Hans who started at 7.00 am the Mulu Canopy Skywalk. With 480 metres is the Mulu Skywalk is one of the longest canopy walks available in Borneo. Led by a park guide all 3 head high into the canopy and walk amongst the ferns and vines above the forest floor. 10-30 metres there had the opportunity to get closer to wildlife, spot some unique species of birds, wild monkeys, insect and more all high up in the treetops. After breakfast I started walking to meet the other at a waterfall . I had a map and there were signs but then there was nothing and I actually was worried I was wrong and felt a bit nervous being alone in the jungle. But it all went well and Clive actually started walking towards me as the kids where worried. We all enjoyed our food even more after all that walking.Read more

  • Day 14 Travelling from Muku to Kuching

    July 29, 2025 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Our last days in Mulu , I would say Mulu was my highlight even though it was so hot it is also very special and so unique. James told us lots about the olden days and that his great great grandfather was chief from the local tribe who were headhunters. It was such an interesting history and not that long ago many traditions are still being celebrated. Our time in Mulu was so beautiful basic and so peaceful. The people here are so friendly, helpful and kind. We made memories who we can treasure forever. We did go early to the airport as we found out the airport had an air-conditioning 😉 this was so lucky as we had enough time for an emergency rescue, as "someone" forgot there camera at our Homestay . Our next destination is " Kuchin".Read more

  • Day 17 Wildlife park and longhouse

    August 1, 2025 in Malaysia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Once again early start to travel with our tour guide to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and the long house. The center is a orangutan sanctuary and nature reserve. We were lucky and managed to get up close to semi-wild orangutan. Semenggoh was set up in 1975 to care for wild animals that had been previously kept as illegal pets, orphaned or found injured in the rainforest. Over the years a number of orangutan have been successfully rehabilitated and released into the 653 hectare forest reserve.

Next we travelled to visit the Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse.
Annah Rais is located about 60 km from Kuching City. Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse is the oldest Bidayuh longhouse and the only traditional Bidayuh longhouse left in Sarawak. They are more than 80 doors (families) that lives in the longhouse which stood 10 feet above the ground. The longhouse was is built from Ironwood (belian) and mature bamboo (apek). Some parts of the longhouse is still original whereby it is attached without nails. They are approximately 1,500 people living in the longhouse and they are all related to each other. Not until the middle 19th century, our ancestors were “Head Hunters”. As a remembrance we still have the trophies which are kept at the Head House called “Panggah” until today ☠️💀 we saw it 😮. We also had the most delicious home cooked food and very fresh picked 🍍 pineapple. Traveling back and to refresh in the pool.

  • Day 18 Boat trip to Satang Island

    August 2, 2025 in Malaysia ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

Once again early start and sadly the weather was not on our side. Grey , cloudy and rain just like home 😉 the only difference it is still so hot. Today we where excited we where hopeful to see delphines and turtles on our boat and island tour. We Cruised along the Santubong & Salak River and mangrove forests of Kuching Wetlands National Park on the way to the Satang Island. We knew there would be a chance to spot the elusive and rare Irrawaddy dolphin as we cruised to Satang Island and we were very lucky. It was perfect to watch this beautiful animals who work together with the local fishermans.

Satang island is part of the Talang-Satang National Park and a turtle nesting ground. We were looking forward to relax on the white sandy beach but sadly the weather got very bad and we had to find shelter. The most exciting thing of course was the baby turtles. The Turtle Hatchery on Satang Island provides an introduction to the conservation work being done to help these highly endangered sea creatures.
After learning about the conservation and seeing the baby turtles we did managed to go
Snorkel over the coral and marine life found in the shallow waters surrounding the island sadly the view was not very good as the weather was not the best. But it did gave us amazing clouds for our photos ☁️.

To a place we’ve never been,
Where the skies are always blue.
    Pack your bags, family!
    This drudgery infernal,
Let’s just leave it all behind
    For adventure eternal.
    Pack your bags, family!
We’ve got but one life to live.
So to waste it on just work
Is a sin not to forgive.
    Pack your bags, family!
As the time to act is now.
We can’t postpone our dreams, for
    What will tomorrow allow?

Ich habe euch alle so lieb. Danke für diese Zeit ❣️
