SB Day 8: Blåisen Glacier … Maybe

The coordinates and the timing embedded in this photo make me think this might be Blåisen Glacier. Even the literal translation of the glacier’s name — Blue Ice — seems appropriate for what we saw. But I cannot be sure.

Regardless, it is another one of the glaciers around the world that seems to be shrinking at an alarming rate.

We were at dinner when the ship made its 15-minute stop in Skjervøy … so no photos. We are now dining with Andy and Wendy from Kansas City, Missouri during lunch and dinner … at a table in the center aft … with the glass wall behind us. Having table companions means that meals take a little longer, but it’s nice to while away the time chatting as we enjoy our food.

One more stop tonight … shortly before midnight … in Tromsø. There’s a midnight concert excursion at a church in the city … for those interested. I’m sure we’ll be fast asleep by then.Read more
