    Back to Toronto

    August 19, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

The sunrise in Niagara was fabulous and after breakfast we returned to enjoy the room and view some more before checking out. We then made our way to Toronto, via an ice winery and Niagara on the Lake. Ice wine is apparently famous because they leave the grapes on the vine through until Winter and only pick them after three days of freeze. We tried the ice wine slushie - the white was very sweet and the red tasted like a fortified wine. In Toronto, we checked into the Royal Canadian Military Institute for two nights, and have a lovely suite with a balcony. It is very military though and formal attire is required for the long bar in the evening...something we certainly have not had space to pack! We dropped the car back to Enterprise before heading off for an evening at the Royal Ontario Museum, a massive museum of everything from dinosaurs to Canadian First Peoples to Japanese art. It was absolutely outstanding, particularly those three galleries, and was a bargain as it's a Friday evening. They alsp had a section of art on General Wolfe, who has made an appearance just about everywhere we've been in Canada. After three hours of walking around the ROM, the feet and the brain are rather achey...so now to find a drink. Looking forward to the Toronto State Legislature tomorrow, the last of these we'll see.Read more
