Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge - GA

Truly wild swamp in SE Georgia, campground is in the trees & deer & squirrels are all around us. Boat tour of the swamp was amazing, gators everywhere in Billy's Lake. Big cypress trees with hanging Spanish moss, water lilies & yellow flowers. Lots of birds - blue herons, egrets (big & small), ibis, cormorants, kingfishers & vultures circling. Turtles out basking in the sun & fish jumping. This place is full of life. Scenery is spectacular & water was dark & peaty but clear.Read more
