Update Hostel, Jetlag, first night ...

    January 3, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    Hey guys
I just woke up thought Id give you a little update.
So i was fighting the unbelievable tiredness until 5pm but then finalky just rolled to fairy land after a good warm shower and sandwhich. Unfortunately i therefore didnt get to meet my fellow roommates which was also a whole story for itself. After like standing in line for literally an hour I finally got checked in and went upstairs only to find a room with 7 boys, that whiffs is absolutely dirty etc etc As I am I start to panic. And since mom told me if my tummy feeling says no I should just leave I went downstairs to ask the super nice guy thats been putting up with me since 9 am if please i could get a different room. I think he could see that I was distrought and that it maybe wasnt as smart to put a petite blond girl thats solo travelling in a room with 7 boys. Oh did i mention one of them was in bed sleeping abd turning. Yeah well he said that I could come back in half hour and he'd see what he could do.
So I not so patiently sit through those 30 minutes searching for different alternatives for at least tonight and then go back downstairs. My lifesaver books me into a 4 girls dorm❤️❤️
In retrospect I think I was just tired and hungry and really overwhelmed but i feel very good in this room now. When they came back later that evening they whispered to not wake me up🥺 which for a hostel is really respectful.
So I explored the hostel a little and made myself my sandwhich but then finally headed to bed. But before i didnt forget to take my vitamines to keep me fresh and healthy:)) Put all my important things in my little bag and stored it on my top bunk and then fell into a deeep deeep sleep.
So now it the next day and Im just researching what I would like to do today. Seems like the blue mountains national park is really interesting so ill see if I do that today or if I want a little bit more planning.
Oh and I got the most ridiculous sunburn on my arms hahah typical Amie
    Talk to you soon guys<3

Soo its been sometime but I had a lot to discover snd do. So my first week in Australia is officially over! Sydney has been a little bit of an up and down but qll in all it ended really nicely (for the most part)
    A little update:
I got a australian bank account and requested my TFN (tax file number).
    I got seveeeeeraly sunburned today.
I met new people! And therefore made friends. And from tommorrow on I am moving to Bondi Beach which is kind of a suburb of Sydney. I have been hiking multiple times, done a pub crawl and visited our friends jakes hostel for a little "party" with my new really good french friends Sandra and Clemence.

Oh and I visited the contemporary art museum of Sydney which was really interesting with their approaches on thematising 2022 relevant topics like waste, social distancing, global warming etc.

    Bondi i love you

    January 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

So I am now 2 weeks in my 7 month gap year experience and it is going sooo well. Like yes there are ups and downs but even the downs feel exciting most of the time. The freedom I feel here is simply unmatched and although I always thaught I am more of a type to organise days and trips to the core I am developing and expanding my horizons here giving me such a feeling of happiness it is unbelievable. Ive met soo many cool people and it was soo sad to say goodbye to them today temporarily. Like the vibe is everything and more. I spend my week working, lesrning how to surf and then continueing to surf and get sunburnt haha but also going out to the CBD or staying in at the hostel with my mates. The hostel was reeally good when looking at the social aspect but the clean standards öhm questionable and also the guy that owns the place ääähm no. Just no. A lot of drama surrounding that. Also my boss turned out to be a little bit of a creep but thankfully it was my last day so everything is fine. Back to the cleanliness aspect. I learned that cockroaches csn fly or rather hop. Whatelse...
I turn out to be pretty okay at surfing and caught quite a number of waves💪 (thanks year long gymnastics training😘😉)
I finally did my laundry hahah which is a step in the right direction.
I got sunburned.... again but yeeah its fine
I am picking up my new rip curl surf suit tommorrow and yes this has become my new obsession and yes we will from now on go surfing during summer.
We went swimming at bondi during the night.
Alcohol prices are RIDICULOUS and i miss Germany because of that.
Oh and I have had my perfect surfer girl day and it was soo cool.
So now I am off to melbourne for now I have booked three nights. Friends from here are joining I think in two nights so that will be fun and then it is off roadtripping through tasmania!!
I have met two british dudes during my stay here and they have got a car and invited me. Amd before everyone freaks out I know I have to becareful and if anything feels iffy I will simply leave. But its actually not decided yet so we'll see. Alright thats all the updates for now maybe Ill remember something more on my great grayhound 12 hours bus journey that is still ahead of me now❤️
    Love you guys!! See ya

    Friends for life

    January 30, 2023 in Australia

Heyy guys! Im on the move again so its time for an update. I just finished up in Melbourne and am now on my way back to Sydney. But only for a couple of hours. Getting some stuff done like finally picking up my bank card. And then its of to woy woy. And yes I know that sounds like an asian take out place but its a beautiful spot at a lake further up the east coast. I will settling down there for a total of 7 nights before heading to my new job. THE FARM! Honestly its not that exciting since its just cutting and packaging vegetables but its good money and a good way for me to save up enough money to finally buy my car. Yes I am buying a car. It sounds like a really big thing but its quite common here and I have done my research. I will be using the next 8 days to work on my uni application, more specifically the one for Maastricht and just generally tanking up some energy before the month long work begins. I am meeting a friend on the farm so no worries and if anything seems shady I will be out there in an instant. But I talked to the guy on the phone aswell as over text and he seems very nice. Hopefully I will also curate whatever I caught in Melbourne because unfortunately I have fallen a little ill. Not ideal for the 12 bus ride I am currently on but makes my own room and space at the airbnb i rented even more attractive.
    More to Melbourne though:
It started off a little iffy. I stayed at a hostel that was mostly packed with workers so there were times I would feel a little uncomfortable. But I made a nice german friend which is also on the bus with me now.
I got a job at a restaurant and earned a little money, which was phenomenal because hostels are so freaking expensive. Who would have thought.
After three nights I switched hostels to one that had been recommended to me by friends in Sydney.
Aand the first nights were not that suuper. I had a mishap with work where I came to work for 5.30 am but was supposed to come at 17.30, the girls from my room were meh and the hostel was so huge that I felt a little overwhelmed with the amount of people that were there. But after three nights I switched rooms and honesty thats probably one of the best things that could have happened to me. I met my new roommate thats actually from sweden (close to Gothenburg;)) and we just clicked. Her name is Elin and honestly it was perfect. We started hanging out and she introduced me to a couple of friends she made the day before. And it went the greatest way from there. We started hanging out everyday and going out with our new friends in the evenings. We just shared the same vibe and it was never exhausting being around her because we could also respect our social battery status etc. One night we met a couple of guys from our hostel and became instang friends and started hanging out with them. And from then on insiders were formed, tooons of laughter exchanged and sooo many memories made.
It was actually the worst feeling leaving them all today but we all know we will DEFINETLY see each other again and a couple of plans are already in the making...:)))
I feel like this post is already soo long so Ill just let the pictures attached explain. If any of you guys would like to chat during the upcoming week just text me because I will be way more relaxed and free then, before work starts.
    Miss you guys loads!
    Cheers,
    Amie<3

    June 1, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

    Hey guyyyys!
So i just realised I havent posted anything here since freaking January hahah a lot has happened since then honestly reading my last posts just made me sentimental. I know most of you know most of the things going on in my life because we talk rather regularly but its just really cool for me to look back to these posts aswell.
Basically yes I continued to get tonsolitis and be bed bound the first couole of days and on antibiotics but after that the lady from the hostel took to me to some amazing beaches until it was time to go to the farm!! and boy if I would have known what that would bring with it I would do it all over again. I can confidently say ut was some of the most exciting time of my life and I met a big part of people that made me feel like home away from home. Gosh I miss them now. I will still do a seperate post just for the farm cause soo many things happened there that I need to put up here.
But before I do that I am currently in Surfers paradise and off the farm and the rest I will let you guys know in the next two posts sooo buckle in and get ready cause its been a wild ride haha
    love ya!❤️
