    Honeymoon Time!

    June 4, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Honeymoon time!!! After a perfect wedding day yesterday we started the morning by having breakfast with our friend Sean who drove from Virginia to photograph and attend our wedding. He’s headed home now through Toronto and Niagara Falls. We’re also headed out, on our way to Blue Mountain!Read more

  • We’ve arrived

    June 4, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

After finally figuring out where to check-in we dropped off our stuff in our room and headed out to explore. We are in the Weider Lodge and it’s quite nice. We have a nice view of the hill as well.
Our dinner tonight was at Northwinds Brewery and it was good but Jackson found the portions too small.

  • First half of our first day

    June 5, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

We learned quickly that almost everything to do here besides shopping is very physical. After a big but good breakfast at The Pottery Restaurant we wanted to start the morning off easy with some mini golf. It was Jackson’s very first time mini golfing and he beat me by one!
Next was the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. It was really fun and we ended up going three times. The first time we didn’t pay to get out picture and videos and the second time we tried but mine never showed up. So then Jackson wanted to go a third time to get mine as well.
The last thing we did was the Canopy Climb Net Adventure. The sign said it’s like the ultimate tree-fort and it really was. With giant net trampolines (very high off the ground) full of balls (that Jackson had way to much fun throwing at me), tunnels to different sections and mini high-ropes challenges. We started off the more physical things with this ones to ease ourselves into the really high stuff and it was a lot of fun. I do now however have very rope burned hands from the obstacles. So we’re leaving the low and high ropes courses for Wednesday morning to give my hands a break.

  • Second half of our first day

    June 5, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We started our afternoon with our final trip on the Ridge Runner and then heading up the gondola to figure out where we are going for tomorrow morning’s Segway tour. We did some exploring at the top because it was a bit of a walk to get where the tour starts. It was very pretty and the main walkway was paved.
After coming back down we went on the water bicycles. It was fun but with all the physical activity today we did not last long before our legs were done. So we headed back to the hotel to spend some time in the hot tub.
After a nice soak we did some shopping before going for a nice dinner at MJ Byrne’s Irish Pub. Now to just relax before we get up early for our Segway tour tomorrow!

  • Mountaintop Off-Roading Segway Tour

    June 6, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Our morning was off to a slow start when the gondola started half an hour late so we had a long wait after already arriving very early. Once we finally made it to the top we power walked to our Segway tour that we were already late for. However we still got our full hour tour when we were so late because it was not our fault. It was a lot of fun, it definitely took some getting use to when neither of us have been on a Segway before but after some practice we got the hang of it. With them being off-road Segways he told us they could go over anything and he wasn’t kidding! Our tour guide Terry was also fantastic. Jackson now really wants an off-roading Segway.Read more

  • Failed Beach Day

    June 6, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Our afternoon did not go as planned. I was really looking forward to having a nice relaxing beach day at Wasaga beach but the weather did not cooperate. Very windy and smokey from the forest fires. So the beach was fairly deserted. With it being the longest freshwater beach in the world I still wanted to check it out though. So we still went and walked along the beach for a bit, we just froze in the process. Luckily, before we left Blue Mountain we picked up new matching Roots hoodies as our keepsake from our honeymoon because neither of us packed for cold weather. On the beach we came across a fenced off area that is a nesting area of the piping plover an endangered bird. We didn’t get to see one though, there was guys there was long lenses and binoculars trying to see them as well but they also didn’t have luck well we were there.Read more

  • Final Morning

    June 7, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

After breakfast at Sunrise Grill we planned on going some more things at Blue Mountain before heading home. There were however a lot of large school groups at everything we tried to do. So the only things we actually had time for was doing the Ridge Runner one more time and the low ropes course. Jackson really wanted to do the zip line and rock climbing but it would have taken too long. After the low ropes we started making our way home. Stopping at Cora’s in Barrie (Jackson’s first Cora’s) for lunch.Read more

  • Home Sweet Home

    June 7, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

We made it home! We stopped at my parent’s house on the way to give them some presents we picked up for them during our honeymoon and had a quick dinner with them. Overall the drive wasn’t bad, not nearly as scenic as our drive to Blue Mountain though. Now to get all unpacked and ready for work tomorrow.Read more
