Mission Beach to Atherton Tablelands

Transversed boulders at Jourama Falls for a refreshing dip
Before arriving at Mission Beach for an icy cocktail to sip.
Silhouetted palms, fringe the wave lapped beach so calm
Sundays eclectic, exotic market stalls were a total charm.

Headed north west, up the Misty Mountains range
Past vast banana plantations for a scenic change.
Grateful for a tasty fresh paddock to plate lunch
On local dairy farm produce we happily munch.

Ulysses butterflies seen at Milla Mila Falls and pool
Temperature drop meant for swimming t’was too cool.
Along a meandering Atherton Tableland road we wind
Until eventually our AirBnB accomodation we did find.

Remote & unique with a welcome glowing fire pit
A chance to breathe, relax and for a little while sit.
Before the rain tumbled down incessantly loud
Our next 2 days we spent living inside a cloud.

These wet tropics are far away from sandy beaches
Sturdy shoes required and beware of slimy leeches.
Anticipated views of Bartle Frere we missed
Tantalising us within a constant swirling mist.Read more
