      Mekong Indochina Hash HANGOVER TRAIL

      13. november 2022, Kambodsja ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Nursing our hatched hangovers, we gathered once again for trail on Sunday morning. It was an A to A event, starting at the sports field in down town Kampot, next to the bus station. Trail was a simple 5 km wander around town as we forced the alcohol out of our blood system via sweat . . . just in time to start circle all over again. All the final bitches and complaints were heard as down downs were issued, and then we feasted on some fine BBQ . . . and then . . . it was all over. Nothing left but the Monday Full Moon hash for those willing to stay another night in Kampot.Les mer

      Tour durch die Umgebung

      4. januar 2023, Kambodsja ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

      Happy khmer new year (Kampot)

      14. april 2023, Kambodsja ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

      Kampot, Cambodia

      22. januar, Kambodsja ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

A lovely town to relax and explore, we absolutely loved our time here. It reminded us slightly of Battambang (although with far less dust!) as the buildings were a similar style and it still had the amazing light.

One of my favourite things to do was sit by the river watching the sunset over the varied landscape.

Can't forget to mention the giant durian in the centre of the main roundabout, although we still didn't get to try durian here as it wasn't in season.

      🇰🇭Cambodia here I am

      25. januar, Kambodsja ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

The next morning I set off early on the ferry to Ha Tien, where I am persuaded to cross the border into Cambodia with a "guide" (seemed to be the more convenient option). First by scooter to the border crossing and then by bus directly to the center of Kampot. 🛵🚐

Unfortunately, the eVisa I got in advance is not accepted at this border crossing (my bad) and I have to pay again for the visa. 🥲Nobody knows exactly where the exact price comes from, the officials there try to get more everywhere - be it 1$ for a photo or a different price is charged instead of the tourist visa. The best thing to do is just pay and don't argue 🤷🏼‍♀️

After a long wait and a somewhat bumpy bus ride, I arrive at my first destination in Cambodia - Kampot.

      Kampot

      21. februar, Kambodsja ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Not much to do here, so most travellers go to the water park called Arcadia, we had a lot of fun there and it has boosted my tan progress by miles.
We were reunited with a couple friends we have met along the way here, sadly they aren’t travelling the same direction as us.
      Off to the capital.

      Kampot, the famous pepper city!
Kampot is a coastal city, not far from the border with Vietnam.
There are many activities to do, such as visiting the pepper plantations, wandering around the Kep or Bokor national parks, visiting the Kep village and market, doing kayaking or simply walking and drinking or eating something in the various restaurants.

I met Amanda at my hostel and together we rented a scooter and as a first stop, we visited the pepper plantation, La Plantation.
Founded by a French/Belgian couple, this plantation provides work and educational opportunities to hundreds of people in the area.
The tour took us to see long pepper and kampot pepper plants, both known throughout the world. They explained to us how the various peppers are made (green, black, red and white) and the colors change depending on when the peppercorns are harvested. The younger pepper is green while the older one is red. White pepper is formed from green pepper that is peeled and dried.
At the end of the tour we were able to try 17 different spices among the various peppers and spice mixes they produce on the plantation.
In fact, in addition to growing pepper, they grow a lot of fruit and spices.

After this visit we left with the scooter towards Kep, where we wanted to have lunch. The road to get there was quite hard, sandy and full of rocks, but we made it.

After lunch we went looking for the salt fields, where in the dry season they pick up the salt.
Afterwards we went for a tour of Kep national park, stopping to drink tea in a beautiful little bar up in the national park.
Then we went down to the seafront and went to see the famous crab market, where they sell and cook fresh crab every day.

After the long day walking around we returned to the center of Kampot, had a nice dinner and then went to sleep.

The following day I took a walk around the city and then relaxed at the hotel pool.

I liked Kampot a lot, a really nice town.
