    1 Ekim 2022, Almanya ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Lounging around in Munich, After a quick hopper from Munich to Frankfurt, it’s time for a cocktail and dinner ( or whatever meal, what time is it anyway?? 🙃) And, time to start the malaria pills, the necessary evil of this trip! 🤦🏻‍♀️Okumaya devam et

  • Otjiworongo

    2 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Relaxing afternoon, before the touring starts tomorrow, dinner with our new friend Laura and guide Uanee. A giraffe sighting on the side of the road, definitely let us know we were somewhere new!

  • Magical Day

    3 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

Today was so magical! We can't believe this was day 1! We travelled to a Himba village to learn of their culture and rituals. ( this is not a show, or re-enactment) this nomad tribe live with their chief and his 3 wives. The beautiful children really captured our hearts. The Himba people had many questions for us too. It was very interesting to exchange information with them 💕 Then it was off to Etosha National Park. The magnificent giraffes and elephants were mesmerizing. The fun zebras were everywhere, spring-bok everywhere; there really is nothing like seeing them in their natural habitat. It's time to enjoy a cold drink and beautiful dinner before an early 6am safari start tomorrow.Okumaya devam et

  • Exceptional Etosha

    4 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We had an early sunrise start today. Into the reserve for the morning tracking before the incredible heat of the afternoon. At 38 degrees the dry heat is incredible. We were so fortunate to see the many beautiful Zebras, Spring-bok, Giraffe, Gazelles, Mongoose... but the stars today were the stunning female lions that move with such confidence and swagger and the unbelievable parade of elephants we were front and centre for, not once but twice! We all held our breath and watched in awe as they strided right by our jeep. Almost close enough to touch! It was another stunning day shared with these incredible animals. We ended the day with another great dinner at the beautiful Toshari Lodge. Tomorrow we move again!Okumaya devam et

  • Travelling to Damaraland

    5 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

It was time to leave the beautiful Etosha today. We stopped at the Petrified Forest. So interesting to learn about these trees that are over 250 million years old! From before the dinosaur age. They were exposed to mineral deposits and harsh conditions, they have petrified to stone like. After a picnic lunch there we continued on to Damaraland. This outcropping of red rock has thousands of drawings and depictions left from the Bushmen and Damara people of over 5,000 years ago. They would leave these drawings as information for the people who would follow behind them and story telling for the children of the tribe. The landscape along our route was beautiful and changes every 10 minutes. Namibia is such an interesting country.Okumaya devam et

  • Damara Mopane Lodge

    5 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We only stayed one night here but what a cute lodge. Every cottage is fenced with different gardens growing within for the kitchen/restaurant. The "feathered locusts" were in such abundance, 1000's of them arrived at sunset, and stay in the trees all night chirping until sunrise.Okumaya devam et

  • Heading to the coast

    6 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

It was a very bumpy gravel ride to reach the coastal city of Swakopmund. It's a pretty town, and felt strange to be back in a city. We strolled around and enjoyed a couple beautiful meals at The Barrell and Butcher, and The Jetty at the end of a very long pier.Okumaya devam et

  • Fun in Swakopmund

    7 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We never know what we're heading into!? This morning we were on a catamaran enjoying the dolphins, seals and this crazy bad bad pelican ❣️He was giant and so funny! Then in the afternoon we were driving in the 150 ft sand dunes that stretch for over 600 Kms. Our guides had so many interesting things to tell us about the dunes. Who knew sand could be so interesting! The vastness of it all was spectacular, and the driving up and down them was exhilarating!Okumaya devam et

  • Naufluft Mountains

    8 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ⛅ 36 °C

Time to move again. We passed through the Tropic of Capricorn and a pitt stop in Solitaire as we made our way through the Naukluft Mountain range. The tilted mountains are the result of lava force and earth shifts from 600 million years ago. Stunning and facinating! We arrived at Agama River Camp Lodge, and we're so excited for this beautiful setting with a wonderful pool for an afternooon of well deserved cocktails and relaxing! 💦Okumaya devam et

  • Climbing Up.. Climbing Down

    9 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ⛅ 35 °C

Uanee had us up early today for breakfast at the dunes of Soussusvlei, so we could make our 300ft climb before the heat set in. Fun to climb, but so much more to come down the face through the sand. On through the white clay pan of Deadvlei, a seasonal river that only fills every 4-5 years. Then it was onto Sesriem Canyon to climb down into this stunning canyon. The day was capped off with a stunning setting for our Thanksgiving dinner. There is so much to be thankful for.Okumaya devam et

  • Back to Windhoek

    10 Ekim 2022, Namibya ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

We returned to Windhoek today, after a brief roadside tire swap. There's never a dull moment with Uanee! We toured this modern city, got in a bit of shopping and capped it off with a fun dinner spot Joes BeerHouse. Tomorrow morning we fly again.Okumaya devam et

  • Next stop.. Johannesburg

    11 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We had to say goodbye to our amazing guide Uanee this morning. We miss him already! A quick morning flight brought us to Johannesburg. Have to admit we were not thrilled to be in a giant city ( much like Toronto) take us back to the animals. But we ventured out and were pleasantly surprised by the murals and fun spots we found in this Jewel City district. A fun lounge, where we were a little early 😉, some street shopping, and an amazing meal at this great Peta Peta restaurant. Oh and bathroom adventures you can't even make up 😜Okumaya devam et

  • 🎶On the Road Again 🎶

    12 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

A long drive today brought us through some beautiful sights, on route to Kruger for three nights. South Africa has a very different landscape from Namibia. Along the Panoramic Route we stopped at Blyde River canyon and the three Rondavels to take in the views. One last stop at Heavens Gate then we arrived at Kruger Park and the incredible Mdluli Safari Lodge. We've been waiting for this one! Is this "Glamping"!? The tents are stunning.Okumaya devam et

  • Kruger National Park

    13 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☁️ 35 °C

Another start at dawn. The lodge sent us off in our 4x4 with Zona our guide, and a picnic breakfast. The animals were pretty shy at first, but we had a wonderful close encounter with a tower of giraffes, family of baboons and a herd of elephants where Momma had to discipline one of her boys. We met this stunning male Kudu, the gazelles and wildabeast. Zebra bums are the best ♥️ Then back to the lodge to cool off, but the elephants came to entertain there too! Dinners have been so lovely, food is amazing.Okumaya devam et

  • Day on/Day off

    14 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Diana and I could not resist a quiet day to enjoy the beautiful lodge. The rest were out for a 6am start again, and we're rewarded with a very successful game drive. The Kruger river was active with playing elephants, hippos and crocodiles. The pinnacle though was a lion tribe with a giraffe they had downed. A true nature experience! One more great evening in Mdluli.Okumaya devam et

  • Another Day... Another Airport

    15 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

We left Kruger today, through some depressed areas. It's hard to imagine this is reality for so many people. Onto Pretoria, the capital city of SA. These Jakaranda trees are stunning, and Pretoria has 4-500,000 of them! They line every street. We had a quick stop to see the Union building ( parliament hill) and beautiful statue of Nelson Mandela. Passed a Budist Temple and Turkish Mosk, but sadly, shanty towns are all around as well. After the requisite souvenir stop we're back at the airport in Johannesburg for an evening flight to Cape Town.Okumaya devam et

  • Cape Town

    16 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We started out on a beautiful early morning walk along the sea park. There are stunning art installations all along the wall. We found a gem of an artisan market with beautiful health foods and treats. By lunch we had walked about 6 kms to reach Victoria Wharf. A very fun bustling area. After lunch it was time to take the ferry over to Robben Island (11km off the coast of Cape Town) for the sobering history lesson of the prison where Nelson Mandela and many apartheid leaders and activists were imprisoned. This lovely soul Mr. Mbatha was one of those prisoners from age 24 to 31. He shared his memories and accounts of his time imprisoned there. We returned for another wonderful dinner and to see the jovial life of the people out for the evening.Okumaya devam et

  • The Mother City

    17 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We spent the day touring Cape Town; lovingly referred to as The Mother City. Such a large bright vibrant city with so many distinct areas. We had a lovely wine tasting and lunch at Groot Constantia. In the afternoon we travelled up over 3500 ft via cable car to reach the top of Table Mountain. Such stunning views from this beautiful place. Much like the Grand Canyon, it is hard to capture the vastness and beauty in pictures.Okumaya devam et

  • Cape of Good Hope

    18 Ekim 2022, Güney Afrika ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We travelled along the beautiful Chapmans Peak Drive today. Through beautiful seaside towns with ostrich and baboons greeting us along the way. A lunch break at Boulder Beach was a fun stop to see the penguins! We could have watched them for a long time. But we continued on to The Cape of Good Hope, the southern tip of the continent. Hard to believe we were there!Okumaya devam et

  • Zimbabwe

    19 Ekim 2022, Zimbabve ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Today we fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, arriving at Nguni Lodge. Another amazing landscape, and beautiful scenery. These amazing orange trees are called Flamboyant Trees and while it most certainly does not feel like fall here ☀️🔥☀️ it kind of looks like fall. A beautiful sunset cruise on the Zambeni River was a fabulous way to be welcomed here. The hippos and elephants were out to entertain us.Okumaya devam et

  • Zimbabwe Adventures

    20 Ekim 2022, Zimbabve ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

What a day! Starting with an 8am helicopter ride for an ariel view of Victoria Falls and the many gorges that form this unique corner where the 4 countries of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia meet. Then it was off to walk the beautiful falls for a very different perspective of its vastness and rain forest like atmosphere. After lunch in town everyone caught their breath for the afternoon by the pool. It's only 40 degrees after all 🔥 Capped off the day and our time in Zimbabwe with an incredible drumming dinner show. So much fun!Okumaya devam et
