    Erg Chebbi

    17 février 2024, Maroc ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Today drove out to the Erg Chebbi dunes located near the remote frontier town of Merzouga. The dunes are renowned for their incredible height and size, some reaching heights of 150 metres!

We arrived at the Berber camp where we were staying in tents... overnight... in the cold desert. After unpacking, we jumped on our trusty camels to watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. I was amazed (and thankful) that camels can navigate steep sand dunes while carrying a fat Australian tourist.

After sunset, we arrived back at the camp for an authentic feed and music. It was a great evening, but by the time we went to bed the wind had picked up and it was a bit noisy in the tents. But all part of the adventure.
