Emily Embo English version Part 1: We finally arrived in Nepal. Our journey took 28 hours, but it actually seemed less. At Frankfurt airport, everything went quickly and smoothly; check-in, passport control and security. Our 7.5 hour flight to New Delhi passed relatively quickly, but we couldn't really sleep. At take-off, the sun was setting and we were served our first meal; rice, gravy, bread roll with butter, dessert and water/tea/coffee. Lucas' meal was chicken, mine vegetarian, though the vegetarian was much spicier. At breakfast, it turns out that my vegetarian dish is also spicy, whereas Lucas' omelette is not. Luckily, I was able to swap mine and eat my whole meal this time (the spicy one I couldn‘t finish). It was accompanied by yoghurt, orange juice and again bread rolls, water and hot drinks. On approach to Delhi, the sun came up and we could see Afghanistan from above. When we landed, I immediately noticed the smog in India. At the airport we had no internet (we thought) and so the first 6 hours of our 7-hour stay passed very slowly. Later, it turned out that we had to scan our passports at a machine to get a code for the Wi-Fi. As we were waiting at the gate for boarding to begin, a certain Mr Lucas Gendra was called to come to the counter. His backpack did not make it through security and he had to go to another gate to open his backpack and show it to security. While Lucas goes there, the boarding starts and I text Lucas to hurry up. I don't hear from him and write to him when I am on the plane, he is still waiting for his backpack. More and more people get on the plane, but not Lucas. Then he finally wrote that he had made it and I see him getting on the plane, out of breath and sweaty. We think that‘s it, but then a man comes and tells us that Lucas' backpack didn't make it through the checkpoint again. The backpack has to stay in Delhi, but at least we are together!
Emily Embo English Version Part 2: Then, with a lot of turbulence, we head towards Kathmandu and our seat neighbour, a Nepali, tells us and we can see the Himalayas out of our window. And indeed we can see the tops of some mountains, only I still have to find out which ones exactly. Arriving in Kathmandu, it went smoothly; money exchanged, new sim card and by taxi to the hotel. Oh, and the taxi ride is a story for next time...
