🇩🇪Rafting
Emily Embo 🇬🇧Rafting As mentioned in the last entry, on Friday we went rafting. My colleagues and I were looking forward to an hour full of water fun on the Kaituna River, which boasts three waterfalls, one of which is seven meters high and therefore considered the highest commercially navigable waterfall. Two friends from France were sitting in the front of the boat; they didn't understand much of the briefing, which might be for the best. Because when the guide told us about everything that could happen when we shoot down this waterfall, I got a bit nervous. In the best case, we all stay in the boat, right side up, and continue. But the raft could also flip over, then we have to hold onto the air bubble that forms under the raft and wait for his signal to flip it back. It could also happen that one gets thrown out and the current of the waterfall whirls one underwater, like in a washing machine. Then you should curl up into a ball and hopefully the waterfall spits you out again. Well, that didn't sound so fun, but now there's no turning back. We often practiced our safety position, but as you can see in the photos, our French front didn't quite understand it. They also got thrown out, but luckily didn't end up in the washing machine. We almost tipped over, but luckily we didn't! After we picked them up, it was smoother sailing. Now we could enjoy the beautiful nature.
Emily Embo There was also plenty of time for other fun; at one point, our guide let us out; whoever wanted could swim through a rapid. Of course, I'm in! He went ahead, anchored the raft, and blew a whistle. That was our starting signal, we swam into the rapid, got tossed around a bit, and then swam back to the raft. Our guide was ready to throw his rope behind us because the current was no joke. When we reached the end, we were glad to have all survived. The frontman from France also recorded a video with his GoPro; when he sends me the footage, I'll upload it separately again :)) Look forward to it! Until then, here are some pictures, yours Emily
