Adige River, VeronaDecember 11, 2019 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 6 °C
We made our way across the Ponte Castelvecchio and enjoyed a lovely stroll along the Adige River. Verona is such a pretty town on both sides of the river and it was such a beautiful day for a walk along the second longest river in Italy, although we only strolled along a short distance of it.
It was pretty cool seeing the snow covered Alps in the distance and we are all hoping we get to experience snow somewhere on this trip.
We crossed back over the river on the Ponte della Vittoria and made our way to the Piazza Della Erbe, passing through the Porta Borsari on the way. Dating back to the 1st century, the Porta Borsari is an arched limestone gate that served as the main entrance to the city.
Verona is in full Christmas mode and as we passed through the gateway we see the first of many large Christmas trees that adorn old Verona. Most of them are simply decorated and it is the many lights that make them sparkle. We are certainly getting into the Christmas spirit and it is such a lovely feel exploring the streets and laneways.Read more
