    Residenz Museum

    18 settembre 2018, Germania ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

The Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany. Today's building was built between 1825 and 1835, although there has been a palace on this site since 1385. The complex covers 130 rooms and 10 courtyards. It was severely damaged in WW2 bombing raids but was reconstructed in the 1980's. Like all European palaces, the level of opulence is obscene.Leggi altro

    Schloss Linderhof

    19 settembre 2018, Germania ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Linderhof Palace is in the southwest of Bavaria. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one which he lived to see completed. It was Ludwig's Hunting Lodge. He came here twice a month, both summer and winter. The interiors are opulent but we are unable to take photos. It is said that Ludwig was homosexual but because of his station in the Roman Catholic faith, he denied this. The interiors, however are quite feminine in their detail.Leggi altro

    The Inn River at Innsbruck

    19 settembre 2018, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

The river is flowing swiftly through the town which comfortably grows around this river valley between the steep mountainsides.
The Inn is a river in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. It is a tributary of the Danube. It's 518km long. The highest point of its drainage basin is the summit of Piz Bernina, at 4,049 metres which we passed on the Bernina Express. The Engadine, the valley of the En, is the only Swiss valley whose waters end up in the Black Sea. Our tour takes us past the waters of the Inn River more than once.Leggi altro

    Kitzbuhel

    20 settembre 2018, Austria ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Kitzbuhel as a small Alpine town in the western Tyrol. It's a fashionable winter resort, known for the annual Hahnenkamm downhill ski race. Upscale shops and cafes line the streets of its medieval center. The town has a 14th century church. This weekend there is a serious runners' race being held - a vertical run of 8km; a 16km and a 32km. You'd have to be super fit to run in these mountains. We also stopped to watch the school children playing in the town's park. It was a recess and the venue was obviously their open playground.Leggi altro
